Roar of the Anjanath

Chapter 5: Feathers may fly

Devastation. That would be the best word that comes to mind if anyone were to describe how the marsh currently looks. Trees either covered in claw marks or directly splintered, lay about the area, broken stones scattered amongst the ground, and the occasional footprint larger than a person lay about. Within this chaos, the two culprits, can be seen still fighting.

"Get off already!" Evans now currently finds himself bucking about like a mad bull as he tries to snatch the bird wyvern with his jaws, which had somehow managed to climb onto his back. Unrelenting, the kulu-ya-Ku continues with its mighty ironlike grip, pecking with great gusto at Evans now marred face.

Evans crashes through more of the surroundings, twisting from time to time to make sure the unwanted deadweight on his back suffers for its poor choices. Tired of this farce, Evans begins to climb the giant ancient tree, devilish plan in mind. Unaware, likely due to either the built up fatigue, the adrenaline from the fight, or both, the kulu-ya-Ku continues to peck away, sealing its fate for what is next to come.

Now amongst the tree canopies high above the ground, flash flies lazily floating about, Evans makes his way to the vine covered edge of the tree." Lets see how you like...THIS!" and with that, to the shock of a now horrified kulu-ya-Ku, he threw himself off the edge, hurtling to the forest floor, back pointed towards the now fast approaching ground.

 BOOOoom!

Gravel and dirt erupt into the air as the two monsters crash into the forest floor, forming a crater large enough to fit a whole Jagaras pack. No movement is seen from the crater for a bit. Then, Evans, bird wyvern in jaw, leaps out exhausted and bruised from both the fight and his stunt. "Man, that was something. whoever says fighting these things was easy never fought this one that's for sure. Time to go home." Done getting himself together, he makes his way back to his nest.

Once home, he places the corpse down and is about to bite into it when he has an idea. "Wait...I could actually cook this with the small embers I can make! not only would this train my ability to produce fire, but i can get a delicious meal! hah, now i see why the saying is two birds one stone." Eager to try, Evans puffs out small amounts of flames as long as he can muster, which is only a minute before he needs to recover. Repeating his actions four more times so as not to burn the corpse, he now takes a bite "Delicious!"

And with that, Evans lays to rest , belly content and head full of dreams. Before Evans knew it, 4 years flies by(mc is now 10 years), with his routine consisting of hunting other wyverns, practicing new moves, and refining his flame sac.

Due to his efforts, he has finally grown to be slightly bigger than the average, an astounding 25 meters thanks to all of the bio energy he has consumed from the great Jagaras leaders and bird wyverns hunted. "Still should have better prepared against puke breath when i first found it. Bleugh!" Evans shuddered as he recalled how one pukei pukei spat a poison covered scatternut at him while he was roaring. Ever since, he never bothered making his presence known to them, always finding new ways to catch them off guard.

"Now then, I'm one step closer to getting that rathalos, though i now need a bigger base of operations." Due to his growth, the nest his mother has made was beginning to seem a bit small. " It seems like its time to get an upgrade"

Evans, now seeking a new place, began to travel the ancient forest. His movements cause many wyverns to move away before they are spotted, fearing that they may become his next meal due to his actions over the years. after travelling for a few days, snapping up unfortunate creatures in the way, he finally finds the perfect spot for the time being. The spot is a large tree that seems capable of holding his weight, with towering branches that make the ideal shade for avoiding being spotted by other things easily while still receiving enough light for him to bask in it.

While Evans was admiring the new potential nest, a shadow creeps nearby, silently as possible to get close. It jumps, preparing to end this anjanath in one swift strike. The shadow however, failed to consider that, due to the hundreds of battles he has endured, and with the scars to prove it, Evans had let the creature approach. Quick as lightning, Evans turns and bites the forelimb of his foe, now injured and thrown to the floor. " a Tobi-Kadachi huh? luckily i had taken one of its legs other wise this would have been a pain to actually fight"

The Tobi-Kadachi is a strange combination between serpent and squirl, with spikey fur traveling from it's back to its tail and a snake like head. "Later squirrely, next time stick with hunting acorns in your next life." Evans having said all the mocking things he wanted to, began to intake large amounts of air. The fanged wyvern, sensing imminent death, attempts to run, but stumbles from how mangled its leg is.

 FWOOOOSHHHH!

Evans releases the breath he charged, but instead of air, a stream of fire rushes to meet the fallen Tobi-Kadachi. The electric squirrel howls one last agonizing roar before falling silent and turning to ashes. With the wyvern scorched, Evans heads up to claim his new nest, unaware of the unwanted observer seeing his actions.
