Reincarnation of a Hunter

Chapter 7.1 - Awakening

The journey from Westphalia to Marseille took about 8 to 11 days.

After taking a boat along the river to the sea, we transferred to a merchant ship bound for Catalonia in the Kingdom of Iberia.

Finally, we arrived and changed boats again then headed to Marseille.

We only rode a boat day and night.

If you’re on a commercial ship without accelerators, it’s quite a distance that could take a month.

 —Splash!

While standing on the ship’s deck headed to Catalonia, I looked out at the sea while listening to the captain’s horn to announce our departure.

It was nice to see the ocean again, even though I had seen it many times before.

It’s been a while since I’ve smelled the ocean or heard the sound of seagulls flying by.

While staring at the ocean, my stomach suddenly felt warm.

Then a series of distracting system messages started to appear, blocking my view.

Just like when I first became a Hunter, I felt a surge of energy in my body.

Yeah, that’s what awakening felt like, but I thought I was going to start with an F in rebirth. It had a backup.’

It would take a while to get back to S-level, but it’s nice to have the hunter system back.

First, I looked at the skill window and saw that I had 2 skills when I was at Level E.

[Leer Morale]  was a skill that allows you to identify items or objects of unknown purpose, much like emotions in RPGs.

If you use it on a person, their real name, age, and a short description would appear. Since it’s a low-level skill, it doesn’t give any details.

[Loose Golem Transformation]

allows you to summon up to two Golems by conjuring a specified object. They could not generate mana on their own, so their combat power was lower than that of E-F Hunters.

Instead, they have good AI and could capture mana, self-repair, and labor indefinitely.

Before, I used to dig with golems and do workshops (carrier of construction materials). I even bought a house with my salary.

I made a pretty good living doing labor.

When I’m not participating in gate raids, my two golems would play around the clock. Then I do other part-time jobs.

For a moment, I thought about the past, then I came back to my senses.

Before, these skills weren’t very useful, but now they do.’

[Leer Morale]  would be very helpful in getting information about the other person.

Because there are very few ways to validate your identity in this world.

Wooden seals could be easily faked, and only the seal of a noble family was impenetrable, and even then it was transferable.

I evaluated Martin on a test basis.

That’s great, wasn’t it?

Now, no one could make a fool out of me.

Also, the [Loose Golem Transformation]

 was more useful than before.

There aren’t any forklifts or bulldozers in this world.

Golems that work around the 24 hours would be very useful for clearing large forests.

Let’s run a test, shall we?’

I got a piece of wood from the sailor, held it up, and shouted the skill initiator.

 “Golem Transformation.” —Thud, thud!

With a slight noise, the pieces of wood twisted, creating a tall wood golem.

At the same time, I could hear the surrounding crowd cheering.

“Wow, it’s magic.” “Oho, isn’t that a magic puppet?”

The men on deck gathered around to see the golem. They thought it was a magical puppet.

Martin saw it too and came running.

“How did you do that? You didn’t even go to a magic school.” “I always knew I could do that.”

I used to do that before.

Anyway, I commanded the golem.

“Golem, go to the bottom of the ship and catch rats, then throw them into the ocean.” ―Tap, tap, tap!

The Golem’s AI was good at what it does, so it would understand and follow commands like this.

The golem soon ran down the stairs.

And the crowd followed the golem into the docks.

Perhaps they were wondering if it really could catch mice.

Meanwhile, I looked at the storage rooms.

I don’t have any items, but all the gear I used in my E-level days were there.

A Gladius with ‘

Made in Korea’

engraved on the handle, a sturdy-looking round shield, and a military broadsword given by the Ministry of Defense.

But the clothing was a bit strange.

Sweatshirt and three-striped slippers.

 “…”

I don’t understand what this stuff was in the backup. I’m lik

e, ‘Oh, I was an E in college, so let’s just say I got a comfy outfit.’

There were two equipment rooms, but the second one was empty.

I decided to put the weapons I had in the empty spaces.

What should I put in it, something that’s durable and easy to use?’

Back in the cabin, I opened my bag and found the dagger I had received from the Cardinal of Aachen.

Let’s put this one in because it’s the most durable.’

Then, the time that I grabbed the handle of the dagger…

《System alarm!!!》

You have obtained the item 【

Soul Reaper

‘What? Why are these items in this world?’

It doesn’t make sense to have items in this world without a hunter system.

I’m guessing two things.

First, there was a dimensional gap, like a gate, that someone must have carried across.

Second, as in my case, I must have pulled it out of the equipment storage.

‘Either way, it doesn’t matter.’

I had it figured out
