Reicarnated as a Hyuga in the Warring States Period

Chapter 9: Chapter 9: Disappointment and New Training Regime

Hezel felt ready. His strength had increased a lot but it had met a plateau. While he could still improve a lot through regular training he didn't have techniques to match with his ever-growing chakra reserve.

While sage mode was an option, it felt more like an overall power-up. What he lacked was a technique to match something like Madara's Susanoo or the First Hokage's True Several Thousand Hands.

So he decided to improve his battle experience.

Hezel wasn't one to delay once he took a decision. He got up from his meditative stance and went with quick steps towards the building of the Hyūga's council.

He went towards one of the guards and said: "Tell the patriarch that I have something to discuss with him."

The guard recognized him and with a nod went inside to announce him. Soon after he exited and said: "The patriarch is waiting for you."

Hezel entered the meeting room and sat on a pillow in seiza.

(Patriarch): "Well, Hezel. Why did you come to meet me today?"

(Hezel): "I wish to participate in the missions with the branch house members to enhance my battle experience."

(Patriarch): "Denied"

(Hezel): "But…"

(Patriarch): "No buts. I feared this day would come. There are multiple reasons why you must not go to the battlefield. Not only you are very precious to the clan but did you think about the pressure we will face once you go?

The byakugan is the only doujutsu that can be transplanted without drawbacks Once you go you will be targeted by a lot of parties making our missions very hard. How many branch house members will die protecting you? How many because there will be more hostiles on the battlefield? How much will be the income of the clan affected?"

Hezel was speechless. He indeed never thought about those issues. In the end, he was forced to say: "Understood Patriarch. I won't mention it again without addressing those issues."

(Patriarch): *Hmpf*

Hezel thought hard about the issues pointed out by the patriarch. A few days later he came to him with a solution but the patriarch refused him for some other reasons. This continued for a few weeks. When the patriarch saw that Hezel would continue to plead his case he decided to simply say to him that he won't be allowed to leave and that was final.

Exited again from the patriarch's meeting room Hezel was fuming and just as he was planning whether to leave on his own he discovered that he had been put under the monitor of five branch house members.

He had to give up his wild thought.

Since he couldn't leave he started thinking about training.

As he thought it over, he noticed that he hadn't started practicing the nature transformation of his wind element or shape transformation.

So: leaves for nature transformation and balloons for shape transformation. For shape transformation, he intended to master the Rasengan which would be considered the ultimate example of it.

As he was musing about his future training, he didn't notice that while walking he had strayed from his usual route. At some point, he was woken up from his thoughts by some familiar cries.

He went in the direction of the shouts and saw his sister Hue training by hitting the trunk of a tree with her palms.

Hue noticed a presence behind her and turned around. "Brother! What are you doing here?"

(Hezel): "I was passing near and I heard your shout so I came looking. What are YOU doing here? Isn't your training supervised by our father?"

Hue started fidgeting and said in a low voice: "Father doesn't have much time. I am not as talented as brother so, if I want to become as strong as you, I need to train much harder."

(Hezel): "And you thought that repeatedly hitting a tree would close the gap?"

Hue lowered her head and started blushing.

Hezel exhaled: "Come with me. From now on you will train with me. While I can't for sure make you as strong as me, I will make you a force to be reckoned with."

Hue's eyes sparkled and she rejoiced: "Yay! Brother is gonna train me."

Hearing that, Hezel couldn't help feeling ashamed. In his pursuit of strength, he had overlooked one of the most precious things in this life: his little sister.
