Chapter 37: Chapter37-Corner: This Isn’t the Ducal Manor I Remember
Seeing William's skepticism, Corner shook his head repeatedly and explained:
"There are things you simply don't know. In the Singularity Battlefield, there's a special pass that grants access to the mysterious Chaos City. With enough advanced mana stones, you can buy anything you want there—it's a paradise for the rich. Even Ascended Rank Level 9 elites would be willing to wash your feet for the right price!"
William was stunned, unable to believe what he was hearing.
He had entered the Singularity Battlefield before, but he'd never heard of Chaos City or its pass.
However, he knew Corner wasn't one to spout nonsense. The seriousness on his face made it clear he wasn't joking.
"Chaos City? Advanced mana stones are that important?" William murmured.
"Exactly! Advanced mana stones are crucial. They're the only way to exchange for chaos cards, and with chaos cards, you can buy anything and access any service in Chaos City!" Corner explained. "I worked there for fifty years just to save up enough to purchase these two Thrones. The most incredible part? When I returned, only a few days had passed in the outside world!"
William's eyes widened in shock. "Is this… is this real?"
"Of course it's real! If you have a large number of advanced mana stones, don't waste them!" Corner urged earnestly.
William pondered for a moment before suddenly saying, "Then what are we waiting for? Let's head to this Chaos City you mentioned!"
If Corner was telling the truth, their 10,000,000 advanced mana stones could surely buy many valuable treasures. It would significantly boost Ducal Manor's strength!
"You can't enter Chaos City without a pass," Corner said regretfully. "The pass I had was already difficult enough to obtain!"
Passes were extremely rare, and acquiring one was a matter of sheer luck.
Suddenly, as if remembering something, Corner asked curiously, "How many advanced mana stones do you have? And where did you get them?"
"We have nearly 10,000,000. If I'd known about Chaos City earlier, I would have given you the pass and asked for your help," William replied, a hint of regret in his tone.
Corner froze, staring blankly at William. "What did you just say? You have nearly 10,000,000 advanced mana stones?"
William nodded. "Yes, all thanks to our independent senator. He's a tycoon like none we've ever seen before!"
"The scale of his wealth is unimaginable. He has so many advanced mana stones that he told us to keep the array running permanently. If we run out, he said we can just ask for more."
What?!
Corner was utterly dumbfounded.
Where could you possibly find such a generous independent senator?
10,000,000 advanced mana stones? Even with all his collaborations with William in the Singularity Battlefield, they hadn't found anywhere near that amount.
"Can I meet him?" Corner rubbed his hands together eagerly.
If this independent senator truly had so many advanced mana stones, entering Chaos City would be the perfect move!
"He's already gone into the Singularity Battlefield," William replied, shaking his head. "And you won't be able to track him down with your special methods. He's currently in the Second Zone."
"Second Zone? An Apprentice Rank?" Corner's heart skipped a beat.
This had to be a joke!
How could an Apprentice Rank individual possibly possess so many advanced mana stones?
"You can choose not to believe it, but it's the truth," William said with a shrug. "When you meet him, you'll realize his wealth is beyond imagination."
"Also, if he gets one of those passes you mentioned, we might all benefit! No one knows how many advanced mana stones he has!"
"When he returns, we might witness a miracle!"
In the Second Zone
Velen had been searching for four hours, but he hadn't found any trace of a Land of Legacy—or even any living people or spellbeasts.
Despite such a lengthy search, he had found nothing.
"Damn it!" Velen gritted his teeth. "Kidd, if I see you again, I swear I'll smack you silly!"
The Land of Legacy was nowhere to be found, and the pass was even more elusive.
Though he had obtained a pass earlier, Kidd's misleading advice had caused him to waste so much time. Just as he'd begun to enjoy himself as a tycoon, he was unceremoniously kicked out.
The more he thought about it, the angrier he became!
"Brother Velen!"
A familiar voice suddenly called out in the distance.
Turning his head, Velen saw Kidd approaching and immediately stormed toward him.
"Kidd! That pass you gave me only lasted half a day! Do you have any idea how much I suffered because of you?"
Kidd was stunned by Velen's words but quickly explained,
"Brother, I didn't tamper with the pass! It must've been used by someone else before!"
"When I found the pass, it was in the possession of an old man who was gravely injured. He'd been fighting others over some treasure. I took advantage of the situation and questioned him about its use!"
Hearing this, Velen studied Kidd for a moment and sensed that he wasn't lying.
If Kidd had intentionally deceived him, he wouldn't have approached him so openly now; he would have hidden or run away.
"Brother, what's Chaos City like?" Kidd asked curiously.
Though he'd found the pass, he had never dared to use it, knowing how expensive everything in Chaos City was. Entering without sufficient funds would've been a waste.
If he ever amassed enough advanced mana stones and didn't have a pass to enter, he'd regret it for life.
Now that Velen had experienced it firsthand, Kidd was eager to know if the rumors were true.
Thinking about the high-tech world of Chaos City, Velen asked,
"Do you guys have advanced technology where you're from?"
The galaxies in the universe varied greatly in their technological development.
Kidd blinked in confusion and asked, "Technology? What's that?"
Seeing Kidd's ignorance, Velen shook his head.
"If you don't understand technology, I can't explain it to you. Just remember this—advanced mana stones are incredibly important. If you get your hands on them, hold onto them tightly. They're essential."
Kidd nodded earnestly at Velen's warning.
Advanced mana stones were rare even in the Singularity Battlefield. Kidd had only managed to find a few ordinary mana stones, which couldn't compare to advanced mana stones.
At that moment, Velen's pupils contracted as his system interface updated.
Special Item: Sword of Judgement (Fragmented Version) – 9,999 units!
Another skill fragment!
Velen was familiar with this scenario; he'd encountered the Eye of Hell earlier, which he had given to the rabbit.
Distributing these fragments wouldn't be difficult, but he needed a suitable recipient.
Velen glanced at Kidd and asked,
"Kidd, are you a swordsman?"
"Swordsman? That's too hard! I tried learning sword techniques before, but I just don't have the talent," Kidd admitted, puzzled by the sudden question.
Too hard? No talent?
To Velen, those weren't problems.
If that was the case, he'd help Kidd out!
Feeling unsettled by Velen's intense gaze, Kidd cleared his throat and asked,
"Brother Velen, is there something you need me to do?"
"You just stand still," Velen said with a gentle smile. "I'm giving you a great opportunity!"
A great opportunity?
Kidd didn't understand.
Then he saw a strange sword energy radiating from Velen's hand.
Although it was as thin as a strand of hair, it emitted an incredibly dangerous and holy aura, as if a divine arbiter was about to deliver judgment!
This was undoubtedly an extraordinarily powerful swordsman skill!
As that thought crossed Kidd's mind, the strand of sword energy entered his forehead.
A terrifying Sword of Judgment skill resonated within his mind.
Even though Kidd had never formally trained in swordsmanship and only heard of swordsmen, the infusion of this sword energy granted him a deep understanding of several swordsman techniques.
