Chapter 36: Chapter36-Ascended Rank Awakeners Can Only Work Here

Velen quickly adjusted his mindset and continued wandering through Chaos City.

Along the way, he saw various buildings and shops:

Arena,Alchemy Guild,Forging Association,Scroll Factory,Residential areas, hotels, and more.

The city was a dazzling array of everything one could imagine. Whatever Velen could think of, it was all here.

After wandering for a while, Velen finally stopped in front of a grand bank.

This bank exuded an imposing presence, occupying several square miles. At the entrance, a sign radiating a peculiar energy stood proudly:

Chaos Bank.

"Welcome, esteemed guest. How may I assist you?"

As soon as he stepped into the lobby, a young woman in a business dress approached him with a lively demeanor and a gentle smile.

"Do you have chaos cards here?"

Velen glanced at her and asked. Since it was a bank, it should have these, right?

Hearing his question, the woman's smile faltered slightly, but she still answered,

"In Chaos City, one advanced mana stone can be exchanged for a chaos card. This is the unique currency of Chaos City, and all transactions here must be made using chaos cards."

One advanced mana stone for a chaos card!

For other awakeners, this was an expensive luxury.

But for Velen… wasn't this too cheap?

At the same time, Velen noticed the woman's ID card pinned to her chest:

Name: AnnyGalaxy: Large Magellanic GalaxyRank: Ascended Rank Level 7

Though the information was simple, the fact that an Ascended Rank powerhouse was working at Chaos City to earn a living and serving an Apprentice Rank awakener like him was unimaginable in the outside world!

Seeing Velen staring at her ID card, a hint of embarrassment flashed across Anny's face.

"Working here allows us to earn some chaos cards. Plus, working in Chaos City doesn't consume our pass time, which is a great advantage for us."

Velen was intrigued.

"Doesn't this waste your time? How do you find time to level up? Advanced mana stones can only be found in the Singularity Battlefield, right?"

Faced with Velen's barrage of questions, Anny decided he was a complete novice. She didn't want to waste more time explaining and shook her head.

"If you're not here for business, please don't disrupt my work."

Advanced mana stones were rare resources. Even though they existed in the Singularity Battlefield, acquiring them in large quantities was nearly impossible. The safest and most reliable way was to work here.

If she weren't a Chaos Bank employee bound by regulations, she might have kicked Velen out already. After all, he was just an Apprentice Rank Level 9 newbie—not worth her time.

"This is one billion advanced mana stones. Please exchange them all for chaos cards," Velen said, pulling out a storage bag and handing it to Anny.

Anny gasped audibly, her eyes widening as she glanced inside the bag.

The bag was filled to the brim with advanced mana stones—one billion of them!

In all her years working here, she had never seen anyone capable of producing so many advanced mana stones at once.

This was likely unprecedented in Chaos City's history!

Instantly, the disdain in her heart turned into reverence. The smile on her face transformed into one of fawning respect.

"Esteemed guest, please have a seat. I will process this for you immediately!"

Clutching the storage bag with both hands, Anny hurried to the counter, her tone utterly deferential.

While Anny processed the transaction, Velen's mind drifted back to his experiences on Uranus Star, Ducal Manor, the Singularity Battlefield, and Chaos City.

The world truly was fascinating!

Now that he understood how chaos cards worked, he thought about obtaining more passes to bring Anastasia and the others here to enjoy it.

Before long, Anny returned, sashaying gracefully, her demeanor both charming and respectful.

"Esteemed super VIP, here is your crystal card. It contains all the chaos cards you exchanged. When you need to make a purchase, simply swipe it."

"If there's anything else you need or any questions, I'll provide the best service for you!"

To Anny, Velen was now a tycoon of the highest order.

If she could gain his favor, even the smallest crumbs he gave her could be life-changing.

"You seem busy with your work, so I won't trouble you further," Velen said, shaking his head and walking away.

Anny's fawning attitude was painfully obvious, and Velen didn't like people like her.

Without another word, Velen left, thinking it was time to indulge a little.

Suddenly, the pass in his possession began to glow red and burn.

A spatial ripple erupted, engulfing Velen and forcibly teleporting him out of Chaos City.

When Velen opened his eyes again, he was back in the Second Zone with its two suns overhead.

"Kidd, that bastard! He gave me a defective pass! I was only there for half a day, and my time's up already?"

Velen's chest heaved with frustration. It felt like dying with unspent wealth in hand—utterly unfair!

Looking at the crystal card in his hand, Velen sighed and rubbed his forehead. It seemed his enjoyment would have to wait.

"Kidd said the pass was found in a Land of Legacy. Looks like if I want another pass, I'll need to find one of those places," Velen muttered before quickly composing himself and deciding to search for a Land of Legacy in the Second Zone.

Outside Ducal Manor, 100 KM above the sky.

An elderly man with pale, vampire-like skin and a melancholic gaze suddenly appeared.

His eyes gleamed as he stared at the ever-rotating Starlight Array protecting the manor, his pale face filled with surprise.

What was going on?

Ducal Manor wasn't under attack, so why was the array operating at full power?

Just then, Senator William appeared in front of him. Seeing the pale-skinned man, William broke into a smile.

"It's been years, you old fossil. What brings you to Ducal Manor?"

The pale man sighed, the melancholy on his face fading slightly. He opened his mouth to speak but hesitated, unsure of where to begin.

Fifty years.

He had spent fifty years working in Chaos City.

Years ago, he had stumbled upon a pass in the Singularity Battlefield and entered Chaos City. After painstakingly saving up chaos cards, he finally bought artifacts capable of weakening the Judgement of RULEs.

Now that he had returned, only a short time had passed in the outside world.

The surreal nature of it all left him dazed, as though an eternity had passed.

"Corner, just tell me what's going on. We've been friends for years!" William said, curious about Corner's uncharacteristic hesitation.

"Forget it. Let's talk inside Ducal Manor," Corner replied.

As William led him past the array, Corner suddenly seemed to remember something and asked in shock, "William, the energy core sustaining your array—are you using advanced mana stones?"

William beamed with pride.

"Of course! Ducal Manor has plenty of advanced mana stones now. Since you've come all this way, I'll give you some later."

Give me some?!

Corner's pupils contracted. Had he misheard?

"William, are you insane? Advanced mana stones are incredibly precious. You don't need to waste them on the array. Ordinary mana stones would suffice!"

Seeing Corner's stunned expression, William couldn't help but feel a sense of déjà vu.

Wasn't this what they had tried to tell Velen before?

But with the 10,000,000 advanced mana stones Velen had given them, Ducal Manor had enough to last decades. There was no shortage!

"These are two Thrones capable of resisting the Judgement of RULEs at Ascended Rank. Each can shield me once, meaning I only have two more Judgements of RULEs to overcome before ascending to the upper plane universe!"

"Even so, such precious artifacts only cost me 500,000 advanced mana stones!"

As Corner spoke, he manifested two golden Thrones in his palms.

William frowned slightly.

"Corner, you might've been scammed. The artifacts capable of resisting the Judgement of RULEs are well-documented. What on earth are these Thrones?"
