Chapter 248: Chapter 248 Let’s Go to College Together?_1
Yet Father Zhao, holding Little Huzi, continued his unusual response, “It’s still falling. I think it should stop before the snowfall.”
Father Zhao mentioned the college entrance examination, “Hanhan, in the next half a month, you should stay home and study well to do well in the exam and get into a good university.”
Meng Yunhan really wanted to say that she never stopped studying and with her diligent revision, she should be able to get into Kyoto University.
“Dad, when I get into university, shall we go to school together?” Meng Yunhan tentatively asked, wondering if he would want to give up his scrap collection business if they could buy a house in Kyoto to settle down in for a while.
Father Zhao was stunned by the thought, accompanying Hanhan to university?
Seeing Father Zhao not saying anything, Meng Yunhan assumed he was reluctant and quickly said, “Dad, think about it! I’m going to cook.”
Father Zhao kept thinking about the situation. If Yunhan really got into college, it would mean several years of studies.
He remembered how the house suddenly fell silent after their departure last time.
“Little Huzi, do you think your grandfather should go with your mother?” he pondered.
Father Zhao wondered about the tuition and living expenses that may be incurred if they managed to secure admission. If he were to follow them, would Ahao’s meager allowance be enough?
He had managed to save some money over the years.
Little Huzi, unable to comprehend these concerns, assumed that Father Zhao was playing around with him and started laughing.
“OK, let’s go. Grandfather will accompany you and take care of you,” Father Zhao realized that if Yunhan truly got accepted, she would have to attend school, and this child certainly wouldn’t be able to fend for himself. He decided to go and take care of Huzi, as he knew Yunhan would be reluctant to leave the child in his care.
They would endure a few hard years, however once Yunhan graduated and found a job, things would become easier.
As a university graduate, she would be in demand, whether in factories or public institutions. Having a secure job, it wouldn’t be a problem to support both him and Huzi, would it?
At dinner, Father Zhao told Meng Yunhan about his decision, “I’ll accompany you to university and look after your child.”
Meng Yunhan felt a bit guilty. When she first joined this family, her motives were out of desperation and bitterness, but since living with her dad, she slowly became more accepting, and sincerely treated him as her real father.
Now that she was going to university, and asked her father to be her safety net, she felt really sorry for him, but she vowed to treat her father well for the rest of her life and never let him regret adopting her as his daughter.
She would ensure he enjoys his twilight years!
“Dad, don’t worry. When I go to university, the school will give us subsidies, and Ahao’s allowance will be enough for all three of us.”
Father Zhao looked at Meng Yunhan in amazement, surprised to learn, “There are subsidies at university? Do we not need to pay tuition or living fees?”
Meng Yunhan chuckled, “Yes, there are subsidies. We don’t need to pay.”
Upon hearing this, Father Zhao was even more overjoyed, “That’s another benefit of going to university. You must do your best to get in.”
Meng Yunhan confidently replied, “I will get in, I’m planning to go to Kyoto University. Let’s go to Kyoto.”
Father Zhao had only ever heard about Kyoto from others and in newspapers, he hadn’t actually been there before.
“Going to Kyoto, going to Kyoto.” he mused, looking forward to visiting Tiananmen and climbing the Great Wall.
Little Huzi, seeing Father Zhao so excited, stared at him wide-eyed.
She was so cute that Meng Yunhan couldn’t help but want to kiss her.
Meng Yunhan had no idea that Yun Hao had seen her kissing Little Huzi so often before, that he had gotten jealous and was considering gifting Little Huzi away.
