Chapter 14: Journey for the Spear
The Zenin clan's archives were extensive, centuries of accumulated knowledge stored in carefully maintained scrolls and texts.
As Toji led them through the restricted sections, his movements suggested intimate familiarity with the layout.
"The Inverted Spear of Heaven," he explained, navigating past warded shelves. "A cursed tool capable of nullifying any innate technique. The records of its last known location should be here."
Indra remembered it from his past life - having watched the show. Remembering well enough the scene where Toji pierced Heaven's absolute defense, the infinity, and stabbed Satoru in the neck.
"And you intended to retrieve this alone?" Kisara asked, her Divine Dogs maintaining a perimeter around them.
Even with Indra's authority, there were parts of the archives better approached cautiously.
"That was the plan," Toji admitted. "Before acquiring an interesting new employer."
"An employer who expects exclusivity," Indra stated, his tone making it clear this wasn't a suggestion. "Your days as a freelance assassin are over. You serve a different purpose now."
Toji raised an eyebrow, but didn't protest. After that demonstration of power, he understood the hierarchy perfectly. "And what purpose would that be?"
"The Inverted Spear of Heaven will be useful, but not for random contracts," Indra continued, examining an ancient scroll. "Finding it will be your first mission under new management."
"Last records show it was near Kyoto," Toji explained, pulling out another document. "But that was years ago. The trail's gone cold since then. No one knows where it is now."
"Then we'll find it," Indra stated simply. "A weapon that can nullify any technique isn't something that stays hidden forever. Someone, somewhere, knows something."
--------------------------------
Naobito's study remained as austere as ever, though his expression shifted minutely when Toji entered behind Indra and Kisara. Four years since the Sorcerer Killer had last stood in this room.
"We'll be leaving the compound," Indra stated without preamble. "A project that requires attention elsewhere."
"The clan's shame returns and suddenly he's taking my son on field trips?" Naobito's gaze fixed on Toji, who met it with his characteristic irreverence.
"The clan's shame now serves a different master," Indra replied. "One who actually values his abilities."
Naobito's eyes narrowed slightly, understanding the implications. His second son had just claimed ownership of the Heavenly Restricted – a power piece moving from clan disgrace to clan asset through sheer force of will.
"And Kisara?"
"Her mother's condition has stabilized," Indra stated. "And none would dare interfere now."
The threat in those words was clear. The clan had learned well what happened to those who crossed Indra's will.
"How the mighty have fallen," Naobito commented, eyes still on Toji. "From clan reject to my son's attack dog."
"Better his dog than the clan's whipping boy," Toji replied with a sharp grin, even as his mind raced. He'd walked right into the kid's trap, pride and desperation making him accept a challenge he should have avoided. Now he was bound to an eight-year-old's service.
Yet...
The way Indra had fought him – no hesitation, no underestimation. Just pure, overwhelming capability.
The boy had treated him as a genuine threat, worthy of immediate, decisive action. Not the clan's shame, not the curseless reject, but someone worthy of respect, and strength.
Someone desired the presence of.
"How long?" Naobito asked, attention shifting to his son.
"As long as necessary," Indra stated. "We'll return when our objective is achieved."
Toji watched the exchange with growing interest. The kid wielded authority like a blade – precise, purposeful, brooking no argument.
Maybe serving under him wouldn't be such a bad fate after all. At least this master saw him as a weapon worth wielding, not a flaw to be hidden.
---------------------------
The car waited at the compound's entrance, their supplies already loaded. Kisara stood ready with her shikigami dismissed, while Toji checked his arsenal one final time.
"My, my, what's this? A field trip without inviting me?"
Satoru Gojo materialized between them, floating cross-legged in the air. His wounds from their battle had long healed, but his interest in Indra had only intensified.
"Young master," the driver called, "everything is prepared for— oh." He stopped short, seeing the Gojo heir hovering there.
"Perfect timing!" Satoru exclaimed, dropping closer to Indra. The Gentle Death technique didn't react – his presence carrying no hostile intent, just his usual overwhelming curiosity. "I'll join you. It looks far more interesting than the boring missions they keep sending me on."
"Don't you have anything better to do?" Indra's tone carried genuine exasperation. "Like actually attending to your clan's duties?"
"But I am!" Satoru protested, floating even closer. "Observing the greatest mystery in the jujutsu world is absolutely productive.
The Six Eyes need to understand everything, you know. And you..." his grin widened, "you're the only thing they can't quite figure out."
"We're not a traveling circus," Indra stated flatly, though he knew arguing with Satoru was pointless. "And stop floating. You look ridiculous."
"Who's the scary-looking one?" Satoru asked, finally touching ground but practically bouncing with energy. His Six Eyes analyzed Toji, then showed confusion.
"Wait, I can't sense any cursed energy from him at all. How boring."
Toji's hand twitched toward his weapon. The legendary Six Eyes user was... a chattering child who dismissed him without a second thought. The irony wasn't lost on him – being overlooked by the very type of prodigy he'd made a career of killing.
"That's the Sorcerer Killer," Kisara explained, noting Toji's growing irritation. "The one who hunts Grade 1 sorcerers and curse users."
"Oh?" Satoru's interest barely flickered. "Never heard of him. Anyway, Indra, where are we going? Something interesting? It must be if you're actually leaving the compound."
The car's interior became a study in tension – Indra's controlled presence, Toji's murderous annoyance, Kisara's quiet observation, and Satoru's endless chatter.
The Six Eyes user seemed determined to break through Indra's usual stoic demeanor, completely ignoring everyone else.
"This is going to be a long journey," Indra muttered, while Toji silently calculated how many ways he could theoretically kill the floating annoyance.

(Author note: So we have the gang together!
These are the current heavy hitters till we get to Jujutsu High and we get Geto and Shoko and all that.
Also, just so you guys know, Cursed Spirits will have a far heavier presence in this fic, as well as Curse Users.
This world is far larger with there being sorcerers from all over the world not only japan, and with the fact that two Sons of Heaven were born in the same lifetime.
So yeah, I hope to see you all later,
