Chapter 19: Revelation
During the ride to the Bunker, Sam and Castiel explained what happened to Henry, with Abbadon listening in, in the backseat.
Throughout the explanation.
The time-traveling Winchester asked various questions, and a variety of emotions flashed through his eyes as he attempted to keep his expression completely even, attempting to remain as objective as possible.
Soon enough they arrived, and stepped out of the impala.
"So this is the place," Henry stated, a hint of excitement in his voice.
This was the place he was promised to be brought before the knight slaughtered everyone. It was the greatest well of knowledge on earth and soon all that knowledge would belong to them.
As they all approach the door, Henry pulls out the key and gently puts it in and opens the door.
As they enter, Henry sees practically only darkness. The three who are gifted with supernatural senses though can see clearly the stairs in front of them leading down below.
They slowly go down the stairs, wary, but also with a sense of excitement.
Sam knowing there is supposed to be switch box in which a lever is that needs to be pulled for the lights to be turned on finds it easily enough and lights up the whole space, and as he does an exclamation of awe comes out of Henry at the sight.
"My God... This here is all the knowledge the Men of Letters have amassed since their inception. With all this power there is very little we can not do." Henry stated, a bit of giddiness in his tone.
"Indeed, but, I doubt even here we can find a better source of knowledge than my Knight's pretty little head," Sam stated as he joined the three and from behind gently tapped Abbadon's head, causing her to attempt to growl at being interrupted from her own look around, but no sound was released from her throat.
She herself was also very interested in this place for it in fact was the searching of it that brought her into her current predicament.
"Speaking of that knowledge, how will you get it out of her, Sam? Abbadon is a demon that is as old, if not older than humanity itself. Making her speak is no small matter." Castiel remarked.
"Don't worry Castiel, I have my ways. Actually, now that I think about it, why don't you two go and take a look and see what we can use and in the meant time I'll take her down below into the dungeon to... convince her to cooperate.
I'll call you guys down when I get her to talk." Sam stated, though both could read between the lines what he meant.
Without another word to the two of them, Sam beckoned for Abbadon to follow, which she did since she knew this kind of resistance would only be a fruitless endeavor.
Soon enough they entered the dark room, Sam forgoing the turning on of the lights for it was pointless for the two of them, maybe when Henry and Castiel came down.
As Sam pushed her into the chair and chained her down, the devil's trap below it and the various other sigils on the walls being a great restraint for any demon -- Sam not being one, but something greater unaffected -- made her even more susceptible to Sam's influence.
"Are you going to make this easy on yourself Abby or do I need to do something we- well, you won't enjoy?" Sam questioned nonchalantly as he opened one of the folded chairs there to sit upon it backward.
Abbadon merely glared and gestured down with her eyes, "Oh, yeah, sorry, you can speak now."
"I don't have anything to say to you," She hissed furiously.
"Why not?" Sam questioned, genuine curiosity in his tone as he set his chin on the back of his hand.
"You reject your position my Lord. You have claimed yourself my end, why would I aid in such a fate?"
The corners of Sam's mouth lifted up for a moment in acknowledgement of her words as he calmly looked up for a moment before he looked back at her.
"Fair enough I suppose. But what makes you think you can actually deny me anything?"
Sam's power begins to fill the room causing Abbadon to flinch and stare defiantly into the hunter's eyes.
"Isn't Hell's law basically might makes right? The authority rests in my hands right now and yet you disobey me, why? Doesn't that make you a hypocrite? Or do you not actually believe in what you preach?" Sam continued questioning when she remained silent.
"Your divine self -- Lucifer, is still the superior of the two of you. You both are two halves of one god, the god of Hell, but that does not mean that one of you two is not superior to the other." Abbadon countered, but Sam could sense the war brewing within her being as she herself couldn't fully believe in her own words.
Demons are creatures of habit, akin to angels.
They only know to cause havoc and destruction as they throw themselves into every sin imaginable, but even they have a law, a hierarchy that they simply can not defy without falling into their own ruin at the loss of their sense of purpose.
It is how Lucifer made them. Without that they'd be useless to him, simply uncontrollable beasts which the best thing to be done about them would be to put them down.
Demons need direction in their destruction, that is why they always yearn for a king- a god, and currently Abbadon knew that the two she saw as her gods were on opposite sides, unable to know which side she's supposed to choose.
Lucifer who she has known for eons untold, but who was trapped and powerless right now, or Sam, her messiah, the one she'd only heard of in legends, but who was now before her, beautiful, powerful, and absolute.
"I could torture you Abbadon. I could inflict upon you pain like you can't even imagine. Such delicious and perfect pain and pleasure,-" Sam began staring sadistically at the demon. Sam hates demons more than anything in the world. It's akin to Lucifer's hate for humans.
The reason he tolerates Ruby is because she's more human than demon, for demon to Sam isn't a species but a state of being.
"But I won't, well, I prefer not to at least." Sam finishes in a nonchalant tone.
"Why not?" Abaddon questions warily, because she knows the truth in his words. She understands his power even more than he does himself after all.
"I have use for you going past only being my food," Sam begins as he stands up and approaches her and starts fiddling with her hair, "You'll be useful as well as a Knight like you were made to be, darling. But-" Sam roughly grips on her head,
"The knowledge you have is very important to me and if I need to turn you into a needy little whore for it, one that can not function without a need for pleasure and pain, then I am more than willing to do so.
The choice is in the end yours, my dear," Sam finishes as he leans back and sits backwards once more on the chair, gazing at her silently as she mulls over her options.
After about an hour of absolute silence, Sam entertaining himself by gazing at the changing expressions upon her soul she finally comes to a decision.
"If I accept, if I stand beside you against the Light Bringer, can you promise me sanctuary at your side?"
Sam thinks over her question for a moment and nods, "So long as you don't attempt to disobey me, that you don't go after anyone I deem innocent, then yes, you'll be my prized Knight, a trusted aid at my side as I eventually rule the Abyss."
Abbadon hearing this let out a sigh of relief, "Okay, I am ready to answer any questions you have."
"Perfect," Sam began with a grin, 'Castiel, bring Henry with you and come down here.' Sam communicated with the angel. telephonically.
Soon after the dungeon's lights went on and the angel and older Winchester entered.
"The chairs are at the side of the door," Sam tells them as he looks over his shoulder towards them.
As Castiel and Henry both sat down next to Sam, they nodded toward him, "Are you ready, knight?" Sam questioned, earning a nod from her as well.
"What do you want to know?"
"Everything," Sam responded seriously.
"I have lived for eons my Lord, for me to state everything would mean for us to remain here for centuries." Abbadon countered.
"Start from the beginning. Start from the Fall of Heaven's brightest," Castiel ordered. Abbadon sent a look towards Sam, earning a nod from her and a gesture for her to proceed.
"It all began with the creation of humanity, birthing envy within the eldest's heart-"
"The eldest? Lucifer is the oldest archangel?" Sam questioned in shock, earning a confused but confirming nod from Abbadon.
"Yes my Lord, I believe this is even stated within you humans's stories. 'Let there be light' and all that," Though as she said this Castiel and Sam looked at each other, eyes widened in shock, because this was far different from what they knew. Henry though seemed to already know this.
'This world isn't the same as mine,' Castiel stated telepathically to Sam.
'It isn't what I believed before either. I always thought Michael was the oldest,'
Sam now for the first time realized that this world isn't an exact replica of the show.
"Don't mind me, continue, Abbadon," Sam commanded her after a moment of her staying silent, questioning whether she should continue or not.
"When humanity was created by God, when the first man and woman walked the sacred Garden, Lucifer began to envy them.
You humans tell the story of how he refused to prostrate before them in envy and pride, for he envied the Father's love for them and prided over his might, which is in fact true, but there was another reason as well. Something else he envied about humanity." Abbadon explained.
"Something else? What did the Devil envy that he himself did not already possess? I thought him to be the mightiest save the Lord," Henry questioned, his intrigue surpassing his revulsion towards the killer of his comrades.
"Your potential," Abbadon answered the Winchester.
"Our potential?" Questioned Sam confused.
"You humans have a soul different than an angel's. Angels can not create power, they receive it from Heaven-"
"Lucifer is an archangel though, that does not apply to him," Castiel interrupted.
"Yes, but archangels are not continuous generators, unlike human souls which leak power quite literally everywhere. What do you think magic is?
It is the power that flows through the world leaked from the souls of humans and those who were human, manipulated through spells and items of power to suit their needs." Abbadon explained.
"As I was saying, Lucifer saw great potential in the power of a human soul and the body that was a vessel capable of sustaining such power. He wanted such a soul and body for himself. That was his demand, he demanded rather that he subject himself to these humans, that he receive what they received as well.
He disobeyed his Father doing this and was banished from the Sacred Garden. He later corrupted Lilith as a consequence of attempting to rip her apart to understand how his Father made such a soul.
This sparked a war in Heaven between a third of the Host on Lucifer's side and the rest on the side of God, led by His Sword, 'He Who is Like God,' Michael, The Morning Star's younger brother.
Lucifer would have won the war were it not for God bestowing upon Michael a human soul that functioned as his sword, this is what you humans have named, the flaming sword.
The power it gave Michael allowed him to tear Lucifer's whole army asunder and gift defeat to the Daystar, but not before the fallen archangel broke the sword and took a piece of it for himself."
"Wait, he broke the sword?" Castiel questioned in shock.
'But how is that possible, is Dean not the Michael Sword?' Sam questioned Castiel.
'He is, I have confirmed it myself. I am as perplexed as you are Sam. Have you not seen this in any of the other worlds?'
'No, I have not.'
"Lucifer taking his broken piece fleed the battle and hid himself in some obscure part of Creation. When Eve was created for Adam after Lilith's betrayel of him at her siding with Lucifer, he revealed himself and tempted them with the fruit of the forbidden tree.
But unknown to most, Lucifer put a small bit of his grace alongside, the broken piece of the flaming sword inside the fruit, as Adam and Eve at it, Lucifer's plan began to root itself in their very descendants.
God realizing this, took a piece of Michael's grace alongside his part of the sword and did the same as he banished them to the earth." Abbadon continued.
"To what end? What is it God and Lucifer attempted to achieve?" Henry questioned even more confused than before.
"Lucifer wanted that power for himself as I told you, now, after facing it even more than before. Lucifer was always the brightest, wisest, and most powerful of all God's angels as you know. Before that very moment he had never been bested by anyone save his Creator, and now he finally found out how to obtain it.
God had put a sort of mechanism inside of Adam and Eve wherein when they have children, the souls are made from pieces of their souls, and so forth. Now that Lucifer had put his grace and the piece of the sword inside of Adam and Eve-"
"He was able to create a soul completely compatible with him, one basically made for him, and that soul is... Me." Sam suddenly realized, shocked and horrified.
And indeed it was. Sam may have been reincarnated into this world, but as he was told when he was born, he was always supposed to be the Sam Winchester of this world. The grace and sword piece had merged with him upon his birth, which along with his passing through the veil between worlds has made him a very unique soul. More than he could currently possibly understand.
"Yes, you, my Lord. You are in essence Lucifer's creation as much as you are God's. You are his son, his true vessel, his other half. You are what humans these days call the Anti-Christ. Our Messiah, our Savior, The White Horseman of the Apocalypse.
You are Lucifer Conquest over Creation incarnated. If you and him joined, a being more mighty than ever before would be born, one that would be able to remake the universe entirely in their image." Abbadon explained, though her tone was filled with reverence, awe and worship, which Sam at this moment was too horrified and shocked to even care about.
"And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals, and I heard, as it were the noise of thunder, one of the four beasts saying, Come and see.
And I saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer." Henry quoted, his tone, horrified, awed and even intrigued.
"You are the First Horseman my Lord, the Bringer of the Apocalypse. Your very presence on this earth is a sign to your four brothers that the Apocalypse is nigh." Abbadon stated with giddiness.
Sam couldn't take it anymore, this was too much, too different than he expected. Too different from what he planned for. He abruptly stood up, horrified, backing away, stumbling against his chair as it then fell onto the ground.
He then hastily opened the door of the dungeon and walked out, needing to be anywhere but here.
"Sam!" Castiel called out to him, to no avail as Sam started to runaway.
"Henry, you stay and watch over Abbadon, I'm going to go after Sam," Castiel stated as he ran out as fast as he could out as well.
"Well," Abbadon began with a sadistic smirk as she turned her face towards the older Winchester, "They asked for it,"
