Reborn as Sam Winchester in Supernatural TV

Chapter 17: Grandfather

As Sam was driving the Impala -- Dean having thankfully given his permission since it is the safest car in the universe, after threats of maiming if a scratch was found on it -- Adam grew curious.

"So... Where are we going?" He questioned Sam.

Adam was still somewhat nervous. This was his older brother, not his oldest- that was Dean - but still his older brother.

One that he didn't even know the existence of till a couple of hours ago. 'He's honestly kind of intimidating.' Thought Adam to himself as he looked at Sam from the corner of his left eye, as the second oldest Winchester brother remained silent for a moment.

"Somewhere desolate. A place where there are no people or any supernaturals that can get in the way," Sam responded.

"Why?" Adam questioned now very wary, because that sounded like a place needed for a battle or at least something that might cause great damage to the surrounding area.

"To save someone," was all Sam stated as he remained silent for the rest of the journey.

'And very cryptic, it seems,'

-----------------------------------------

As Sam and Adam arrived to what appeared to be a place where there was only desert for miles and miles when you looked, the older Winchester stopped the car and stepped out, prompting Adam to do the same.

"Sa-" Adam opened his mouth to ask a question to which Sam immediately silenced him with a shush.

The boy was irritated at being treated like a child but chose to obey as he leaned against the front of the car, watching as Sam seemed to draw many elaborate symbols with spray paint onto the empty road.

Something peculiar that Adam noted was that even though it was in the middle of the night the paint still seemed very clear.

He knew many of his senses were enhanced beyond their normal capacity since he started housing Castiel, but even he knew that this was something different.

"Hey, Sam," Adam began again hesitantly, he knew what his brother was doing was probably very important but he just needed to ask this,

"What will you do when we win this? When all this is over and we can all have normal lives?" He questioned nervously.

Sam paused his drawing as he stood there for a moment, "Well," he began as he continued his work, "There are a lot of things I want to happen Adam. What I want for you is that you return to your normal life with your mother, whether that includes Father with her or with Mary or both.

That Dean can have a normal life for once, that doesn't include having to act as a parent and older brother from four years old, that he gets a nice beautiful wife, a white picket fence and a couple of kids, and gets out of this world of only death.

That Castiel can find a place to call home in this world-" Sam continues as he finishes, "One where he can find peace."

Adam hearing all this certainly felt reassured. That there is indeed reason for hope, that they can all win this and have a good life afterwards. That it isn't merely struggling fruitlessly against the inevitable.

"What about you though? You still haven't told me what you'll do? You gonna marry that demon chick-" As Sam's head turned towards him, Adam raised his arms in defense, "No judgement here, just asking."

Sam remained silent, and went to the trunk to pick up some materials.

'I thought he finally was opening up to me, but he just went back to ignoring me, like what the hell? Doesn't he know that's rude?' Adam thought to himself irritated as Sam placed what looked like a very old watch with some very suspicious symbols on it near the center of the sigil.

'From what I understand Adam is that the Sam Winchester from this world abhors lies. He seems to do his absolute best to avoid lying and from what I have observed and reasoned a non-answer is a way to avoid answering with a lie when one does not wish to speak the truth,' Castiel remarked, he himself having been listening in on the conversation and Adam's thoughts.

And as he did something clicked. Adam was incredibly confused when the first meeting between Castiel and Sam took place, but he was still for the most part awake after recovering a bit from Sam's hold.

The information presented when the discussions started helped quite a bit, but just now when Adam remembered, the connection was realized.

"You're avoiding the question. You're refusing to lie to me by saying that you have any plans after this, because you- you don't, do you?" Adam stated, horrified, making Sam pause, his shoulders tense.

"When were you going to tell us huh? I've known you for barely a couple of hours Sam. For barely a couple of hours have I realized that I apparently have an older brother and I'm already somewhat attached, so what in God's name do you think this would do to dad and Dean?" Adam questioned, his tone furious, but also full of sorrow.

"You won't tell them, you can't," Sam ordered sternly.

"What? You expect me to lie to them!?"

"No," Sam responded as he approached Adam, towering over him and pressing a finger on his chest, "What I expect little brother is that you understand that if I don't do what may need to be done that your mother dies.

That she'll become some demons toy to use for their own sick games. That you'll choose your mother over some guy you met who just so happens to be your older brother too." The reincarnator stated, his voice cold as ice, leaving no room for disagreement.

Adam stood there agape for a moment until his eyes glowed blue causing Sam to back away a little, "You were quite harsh with your words."

"Do you disagree Castiel?" Sam questioned as he turned his back and returned to his work.

"Not necessarily," Castiel responded as he moved around the drawing and observed more intently than he could when Adam was on the wheel.

"You still plan to throw yourself into the Cage with the Morning Star?" He questioned, his tone non-judgemental, simply curious, though behind that voice was thousands of memories flashing in a moment, all of the Light Bringer donning his Perfect Vessel and laying waste to all within the universe.

"I'd personally like to avoid that, but that is indeed the last resort." Sam responded as he poured holy oil around the circular drawing that spanned a size greater than the impala in width.

"You ready?" Sam questioned as he entered the circle and crouched, placing his palm at its very center.

"I should be asking you that, you are after all from what I see performing a soul directing spell upon a soul lost in time."

"You don't need to worry about me Castiel, but I'll take that as you concurring with me starting," As Sam stated this he poured his soul energy into the spell, and as he did, it activated.

The spell flew towards Castiel who simply remained in place as it passed through him with him at the point of contact directing it towards the time it needed to be.

A bright light encompassed the entire area, in all directions-- the spell only remaining hidden from Heaven and Hell by aid of the sigils and various hiding spells Sam activated, aided by Castiel's guidance of them -- chasing away the darkness of the night, making it appear akin to day.

As the light finally burst with a mighty shockwave a figure descended from it onto the cold sand.

As Henry Winchester hastily after a moment of pushed himself up he looked around and saw two men he did not recognize, "Please, time is of essence, which of you is John Winchester?" He immediately questioned as he rushed onto the road, out of the sand.

"Neither," Sam responded as he approached.

"That- that is impossible, the spell should have worked," Henry murmered to himself in shock.

"It did Mr. Winchester. This is Sam Winchester, your grandson." Castiel stated.

"W- What?" Henry questioned himself in shock. 'The spell should've drawn me to my closest living blood relative years from now. The only reason why John would not be here is...'

"D- Does that mean my son is dead?" The time-travelling Winchester questioned, anguish clear in his voice.

"No, my father is alive and well thankfully. I merely performed a soul directing spell upon you, directing you to our time rather than further into the future. Now would you please step out of the circle? We aren't in the clear yet."

"How could you possibly perform a soul directing spell- wait, that matters not at the moment. A mighty demon is at my heel, she passed through the gate as I opened it, we must escape with haste!" Henry stated ferverently.

"We know, now grandfather, could you please leave the trap." At Sam's words, Henry looked down and saw indeed a great sigil that even he as a man of letters could not fully comprehend the function of.

He without further questioning immediately deserted it, though carefully, without disturbing what he saw as an oily substance surrounding the sigil or the sigil itself.

"How did you know about my predicament Samuel?" Henry questioned.

"Samuel?" The psychic questioned.

"Is that not your name? I reasoned Sam being a nickname of sort."

"It actually is, yeah, but rarely do people call me that." Sam explained.

"Do you wish me to call you by Sam then?" Henry questioned. He knew he was attempting to distract himself from the gnawing fear in his heart at Abbadon's soon arrival.

He honestly would've preferred they ran and regrouped, but he decided to trust this man who claimed to be his grandson who was genius enough to find a way to direct a soul as it travelled through time.

"Call me by whatever you're most comfortable with." Was all Sam answered as Castiel straightened his posture, "She's coming," He warned.

"It's show time then," Sam said with a smirk as he lit a match and threw it onto the oil, and the moment he did the demon in a cloud of smoke burst into existence at the center of the sigil.

A red haired, blood-soaked woman appeared within when the smoke dissipated.

"Henry Winchester," She hissed maliciously as she turned her demonic gaze towards him.
