Reborn as a Lizard: Evolve! Cultivate! Become a Dragon!

Chapter 5: Shedding Skin and Advancing

Suddenly, a flaky piece of scaly skin as big as a palm fell off his left shoulder, and Brandon was stunned!

I was so dizzy that I actually took off my own skin. He looked at his left arm in surprise and saw that a palm-sized piece of skin was obviously missing from it. The entire area was covered with blood and fluid. There was actually fresh leather armour growing inside, and the scales on it looked very tender.

Brandon was stunned and immediately understood that he was about to shed his skin. Brandon had almost forgotten that lizards had to change their skin, but now he was reminded again.

No wonder I kept feeling itchy all over my body, and felt lazy and unmotivated. After finally finding the cause of the problem, a huge pain in Brandon's lizard ass was finally gone. After all, he couldn't find the reason, and the anxiety in his heart was quite great.

Now that he knew he was peeling, he didn't want to wait for the old skin to fall off automatically.

He used his claws to directly scratch the old skin off his body. The old skin looked particularly strong and tough which was likely due to practising Golden Bell.

Even Brandon, who calls himself a tough guy, was moaning while taking sharp breaths due to pain.

After a while, all the old skin on Brandon's body was peeled off by him except for the skin in some places that was particularly stubborn. He couldn't get it off yet. Even so, Brandon was still covered in blood.

No wonder skinning was listed as one of the top ten tortures. Brandon grinned.

Of course, the normal lizard moult is not as bloody as Brandon's. During the skin shedding, the lizard will feel itchy. At this time, the lizard will find a stone crevice or a tree trunk and start rubbing its armour on it. After the skin is shed, the lizard will eat the old skin. Therefore, it is difficult for us to see the skin shed by lizards.

After Brandon practised the Golden Bell Shield, the scales all over his body were extremely tough and could not be shed by ordinary methods, so the whole peeling process was extremely bloody. It seemed that practicing the golden bell shield was also a huge torture for the body that would shed the skin in future.

After peeling off his skin, Brandon felt his pain dissipate. His whole body felt as if it had been reborn and refreshed. Not only did the itching disappear, but the acuity of his mind also increased to a higher level. Brandon now felt as if he had taken off all his clothes. He felt the chilling sensation due to cold air cooling the newer tender skin.

The internal qi in the body seemed to have become more concentrated since the skin peeling, and it was actually starting to move. Brandon felt that his inner strength would have a breakthrough.

Brandon got down on all fours and began to pay attention to his Dantian. A lively internal qi quickly rose from the Dantian, from the tail to the hind limbs to the forelimbs, passing through the head and back to the Dantian, following the twists and turns of the mysterious meridians in circles.

With each revolution, the internal qi grew rapidly like a snowball. So much so that Brandon was about to lose control. But he quickly and carefully guided it to a mysterious vein. This vein seemed particularly slender and tortuous, and it was obviously not yet developed.

As the internal qi flowed in, Brandon felt severe pain all over his body, as if his body had been cut with a knife. Brandon stabilised his mind, ignored it, and guided his internal qi to rush forward. The internal qi was quickly absorbed by the meridians.

By the time he rushed to the front meridian gate, only one-half of his internal qi was left. This was the first time doing something like this and Brandon had been performing it well.

With the experience of the previous life, Brandon was not confused at all. His mental power guided his internal qi to slowly rotate clockwise. The internal force gradually formed the shape of a drill and rushed towards the closed chakra.

With a bang, Brandon seemed to hear a loud sound. Something was broken, somewhere in the body. His mind began to go blank.

After a while, Brandon came to his senses and found that the inner qi had connected with the surrounding sky outside and began to join the cycle.

Brandon knew that this is the best time to practise. If I don't properly regulate my internal strength after the breakthrough, I may return to the first level.

Brandon ignored his mental exhaustion and began to work hard to run the Zhoutian, also called the cosmic orbit. With the movement of internal qi, the muscles and bones near the meridians also began a new round of strengthening. One lap, two laps, Brandon circulated his inner qi for a full 18 laps..

Finally, it is over!

Brandon slowly opened his eyes and found that it was morning outside. Skyler jumped up and down with agitation, pecking herself from time to time and making anxious noises. Skyler saw Brandon wake up, jumped on his shoulder, and chirped non-stop, her voice was soft, crisp, and ever-changing.

Although Brandon didn't understand bird language, he could still hear Skyler's joy after seeing him wake up.

Brandon stretched out his paw and gently grabbed Skyler. Skyler chirped without panicking. He slowly exerted his internal qi to unblock Skyler's meridians. After a while, Brandon let go of Skyler, and Skyler flew away with a whoosh, apparently going to look for food.

Brandon slowly stood up and started practising Arhat fist. As a bad set of Arhat throws came down, all the bones in his body crackled, and he felt like his skeleton was released from imaginary shackles.

At the end of the day, he picked a huge banana leaf from outside and began to wipe the blood scab by rubbing it against his body. Later he resumed his practice.

Next morning upon observing, the wound had healed. As the pieces of blood scab fell off, the newer and stronger scales were revealed.

The scales are shining with a faint cold light in the sun, and the scales were arranged closely and meticulously. The patterns on the scales were acute and more complex, as if there are endless mysteries in those patterns. The colour appeared more vivid, and Brandon believed that in just a few days, this scale armour would be stronger than the last one.

Soon he was distracted by growling sounds of his own stomach. But the stored food had been eaten so Brandon decided to go hunting.

The early morning in the rainforest seemed a bit gloomy. In order to compete for the sunlight, the leaves had covered the entire sky. Only a few small spots of light leaked through the layers of leaves, forming beautiful beams of light.

The soft soil exuded the smell of decay, and was covered with various fungi, large and small, colourful and attractive but also deadly. All kinds of strange bugs hurriedly crawled by, looking very busy.

Brandon's entire body was hidden among the leaves. The natural protective colours of yellow and green allowed Brandon to blend in the surroundings and hunt better without being discovered by his prey.

He lowered his body and slowly crawled forward, his keen eyes exploring the surrounding situation.

Suddenly, Brandon stopped, tilted his head and listened for a while, his body almost touched the ground, and he slowly began crawling in one direction without making any sound.

He gently pushed aside the leaves in front, revealing only a pair of eyes. He found an elk not far ahead, chewing leaves leisurely, its ears turning from time to time, looking very alert. Brandon held his breath and mimicked a lion's hunting movements. He slowly approached the elk.

His silent movements were comparable to any other large predator. He needed to be patient as Elks are gentle, eat grass, and run extremely fast. But after Brandon practised Golden Bell, his strength had increased and his running speed was more than before. However, he had more explosive power but insufficient endurance.

Brandon slowly approached the elk. The poor elk obviously did not feel that the danger was slowly approaching closer, and closer.

Just when Brandon was about to pounce, he accidentally stepped on a dead branch. After hearing the click, the elk was startled and ran forward quickly.

Brandon was angry. I'll see how you would escape out of palm of my hand.

Such a perfect lurking was actually destroyed, and he was obviously a little angry. Brandon used his internal strength, lunged hard with both feet, and kept running on two legs with momentum. Like a tank, he shot forward.

The elk seemed a little panicked and ran in whatever direction it could go. The chase began and the surrounding trees became denser and denser. Brandon jumped several times, trying to catch up with the elk.

Just as he was catching up with it, the elk can always got rid of Brandon with its flexible movement. After chasing for nearly ten minutes, Brandon was already out of breath.

The elk got into a dense jungle. Brandon followed closely but lost the trace of the elk. Brandon found himself lost.

This is an area that Brandon had not explored yet, and the woods seemed a bit quiet. Brandon felt that this place was a little strange.

He slowly walked forward. The further he walked, the fewer trees appeared. He was mildly anxious in his heart. After walking for nearly two minutes, he found a giant tree in front of him, about three meters in diameter. There were no trees growing around it at all.

The appearance of this tree was very special. From a distance, it looked like a huge willow tree. Long branches hung down reaching the ground. The black-purple bark was soft and smooth, just like human skin.

There were few leaves on the vine-like branches, but the leaves were bright red in colour. The clear veins in those leaves were as bright as blood, just like the small blood vessels visible in the tender parts of the human body, as if they were alive.

At the top of the tree, there were actually seven huge spherical objects, which looked like large unopened flower buds. The breeze blew, and the thick branches danced with the wind in a rhythm, and the seven huge flower buds on the top waved in synchronisation.

Looking from a distance, you can't help but think of a devil waving to you in the distance. These flower buds emit a mysterious smell, which makes people want to get closer unconsciously.

What kind of strange tree is this? Brandon muttered in his heart. He had an inexplicable urge to go and see it. Brandon slowly climbed towards the strange tree, being careful and alert.

Suddenly the branches stretched out quickly like a snake and rolled towards Brandon. Brandon was shocked and turned around to run, but it was obviously too late.

A thick short branch about the size of a child's arm quickly wrapped around Brandon's hind legs.

Brandon was suspended into the air, and more branches surrounded him. At this time, Brandon could no longer care about his fear. He swung his tail and struck at the branches.

The huge buds on the top of the tree had opened, revealing teeth that looked like animals. It looked terrifying. Brandon glanced at the horrifying scenery in panic.

It emitted an eerie white light, making Brandon's scales stand on end. The whole tree seemed to be alive, dancing crazily. Brandon danced his limbs and tail to fight with these branches and prevent them from getting closer. The reaction of the branch hit by the huge force became obviously slower.

His mouth tightly bit the branch wrapped around his left leg, trying to bite it off, but these branches were obviously extremely tough. Even though Brandon's teeth were far sharper than ordinary lizards, it was difficult to bite them off in a short time.

Brandon started to get angry. He used up the little internal strength in his body and started biting the branch with all his strength. His teeth began to become loose.

After a while, there was a crunching sound, the branch had been bitten into two pieces, and blood-like liquid oozed from the injured branch. The strange tree became even more crazy. All the branches flew over.

As soon as Brandon landed on the ground, he ran forward as hard as he could. Finally running out of the danger zone, Brandon sat down on the ground.

He was panting from exhaustion, and felt scared for a while. Looking at the man-eating tree in front of him that had returned to calmness, Brandon was secretly stunned. There are so many strange things in the hidden corners of this forest.

I'm not going to look at it again, he walked back the way he came from recently. But the jungle was very dense. When walking in it, he could not see more than ten metres away because the direction in front was blocked by trees.

Brandon searched for a long time, but still couldn't figure it out. Because every place looked so similar. It was already starting to get dark. If he couldn't find the road again, he would've had to sleep outside. The jungle in the dark was obviously more dangerous.
