Chapter 23: I love tossing boomerangs
The mountain range was perfect for defense, surrounded by low plain deserts, the creatures on top would see, any approaching enemies.
From a kilometer away the sacred-blood blue bird spotted the approaching silhouette of a lone figure.
The winds displaced large amounts of sand reducing visibility significantly, the howling winds blocking sounds from distant areas.
The blue birds let out a magnificent screech as dozens of primitive creatures and a handful of mutant creatures rushed towards Bian. A three foot tall mutant centipede lead the assault towards Bian.
Boom!
It suddenly went up in flames as a primitive ghost butterfly boomerang blew up in its face, as it struggled more and more boomerangs came it way burning it to a crisp.
The rest of the animals "..."
Bian "since I'm injured I'll just have to kill all you without getting into close quarters combat, do beware the flames are hot"
Bian started massacre, the primitive beasts were slain without resistance while the mutant ones went down with after three or more boomerangs. Bian did not kill the beasts who ran from the battle.
Provoked by his antics the sacred-blood blue bird took off at astonishing speed as it made its way towards Bian. "I've seen your tactics before" Bian scoffed.
Bian threw two mutant ghost butterfly boomerangs at it, The sacred-blood blue bird swerved left then right as it successfully evaded these boomerangs. It closed in on Bian and aimed to tear him to shreds with its metal like talons.
Bian summoned the manticore when the bird was less than three meters from him, it successfully took the hit with a metallic sound, and tons of sparks spreading. The sacred-blood feral manticore bit into the bird's leg.
The sacred-blood blue bird spread its wings wide in an attempt to fly back to the sky but the manticore delayed it for a brief moment.
A brief moment was all Bian needed.
"Did you know boomerangs return to their owners" Bian said with a smile.
BOOM! BOOM!
Two large eruptions of fire engulfed the left and right wings of the blue bird. The mutant boomerangs it dodged earlier flew in an arc and landed on its wings.
If the sacred-blood blue bird had seen Bian holding these boomerangs it would surely dodge it no matter the cost, sadly it didn't expect the boomerangs it dodged earlier to come from its back.
After a might flap the bird released itself from the manticores grip. The fire on its wings extinguished by the sheer force it used to escape, it screeched loudly as the rest of the creatures all came towards Bian in drove.
"Keep it busy" Bian said to the manticore as he began throwing primitive ghost butterfly boomerangs indiscriminately. After a year of using vital point targeting his accuracy had reached astonishing levels even without using it.
[Primitive creature steel mole killed. The beast soul has been gained. Eat it to gain 0 to 10 primitive geno points randomly.]
'Who would have thought hunting could be so easy" Bian thought about the first primitive creature he killed, The white panther. 'Were primitive creatures always this weak'
Ignoring the messages ringing in his head, Bian supplies of ghost butterfly boomerang reduced to less than a hundred. After dealing with all the creatures present he turned his attention to the two sacred-blood beasts fighting in the sky.
With damaged wings the sacred-blood blue bird was to weak to contend with the feral manticore. It couldn't fly away either as the manticore was faster than it. It was just a matter of time till its demise.
He summoned the minotaur and watched as it ate mutant creatures larger than it. "Black holes of resources, pets are too expensive for normal folks like me" as the minotaur ate the last mutant creature Bian heard an announcement.
[Sacred-blood creature azure bunting killed. Beast soul has been gained. Eat it to gain 0 to 10 sacred geno points randomly.]
[Type of beast soul of azure bunting: flying.]
The body of the azure bunting fell from the sky with a huge thud.
Bian cooked a portion of the sacred-blood azure bunting.
[Flesh of azure bunting eaten. One sacred geno point gained.]
Bian now had 11 sacred geno points, he gave the rest of the azure bunting to the minotaur and made his way back to the waterfall near steel armor shelter. After checking on the black fanged snake he went back to the shelter and left the sanctuaries.
He immediately went to remove his soggy cast.
"How did you get it wet" the nurse asked with bags under her eyes, she seemed to be in a lot of stress.
After she removed the cast, Bian stood up before a new one could be worn. He was about to explain but was quickly silenced by the nurse.
"Why can't you just stay!" She said on the verge of crying, Bian knew something was definitely wrong.
"Is something the matter" Bian asked in a comforting voice.
"Even if I said yes, do you think you could do something about it" the nurse sounded tired and worn out.
"It feels better to get it off your chest" Bian said as he sat down beside the nurse.
Bian's face darkened after he listened to her story. The name of the nurse was Chun Mei, her father had been injured in the sanctuaries and barely came home alive, their family didn't have enough money to treat him and had to borrow from yours truly, money express.
Even after treatment, her father's heart had gone through irreversible damage. Any more damage and he would die, he couldn't enter the sanctuaries and got a job as a patrolman.
Eventually when the time came for them to pay off their debts they had to give the company their house, but the deeds to the house were fake as their aunt, Chun Li didn't actually want them to inherit the house and used some underhanded means to trick them into signing a forged document.
The family lawyer who was supposed to support them was actually dating Chun Li in secret and so the story goes. No longer interested in the house after gaining wealth, she agreed to give them the genuine documents for the house. Money express wouldn't accept the documents from anyone other than them, so they had to be legally transferred. The entire procedure took weeks to be completed as Chun Li was indifferent to their pleads.
The interest rates could no longer be paid even with the house, ever since then they had to pay back the company monthly, but they could never be free from their debts. The interest keeps on piling, leaving no way out.
...
"Um, do you feel better" Bian didn't know what to say.
"Yeah, I'm sorry about all that. Please don't tell anyone what you just heard." She went to the bathroom.
"Money express huh!" As Bian went to his room in the hospital an alert came in followed by a call.
"What's thi-- five hundred million!" Bian was shocked, he had to count the zeroes multiple times. He checked who sent it and found it to be from the same person who was also calling Professor Min.
"Hello professor Min" Bian greeted him and waited for him to speak.
"Bian, the Xue family sent you that little token as a gift of their appreciation. You can call on them for anything, they really seem to have changed. What you've done is nothing short of a miracle." Professor Min passed on demigod Xue regards.
"This couldn't have come at a better time, actually I'm having issues with this bank money express.." Bian explained his two encounters with them. "Do you think the Xue family would be willing to help?"
"Of course, they might even harass if you didn't ask for anything. I'll pass on your message just this once, since you don't have their contact info yet. Next time speak to them directly." Professor Min was about to cut the call when he remembered something "Also the surpasser that was meant to fix your hand won't be coming again. Instead a demigod will come in four months time, till then stay out of trouble." He hung up.
Bian received the contact details for the Xue family soon after. "stay out of trouble huh, I'll do my best."
