Chapter 123: Sunset
Bian appeared on a dilipidated building top. The scene around him was filled with utter devastation.
The plain ground looked as though it had been devastated by earthquakes with unimaginable magnitudes.
Several other run down building were in sight. These buildings didn't look like they were constructed by the crystallisers.
To explore the vast plain, others might need a team of thousands and careful approach, but Bian had a much faster method.
A soft indigo light spread out from his person and enveloped the world as far as the eye could see.
He was suddenly hit with several sensations as he sensed the situation of the devastated plain.
Broken building. Destroyed plaetue. A weird moving liquid.
No that wasn't a liquid, it was countless beetles similar to the unicorn beetle Bian once had.
"Bingo!"
Bian sped off towards the swarm of endless bottles, reaching their location after some time had elapsed.
He deactivated the Emperical Aura, as keeping it active drained him at an astonishing rate.
Sure enough, the ground split open and a green liquid surged out. As the green river approached him, Bian could see it more clearly that they were actually just countless little beetles.
The beetles dashed towards him, but avoided him at the last moment. They had no intention of attacking him. Instead they made way around him and positioned themselves as if they were kowtowing.
A single beetle flew up towards his face and emmited a peculiar sound. Then it turned around and flew off in a particular direction.
"It wants me to follow."
Bian stepped in big strides chasing after the beetle, all the others parted to make way for him then followed behind.
They travelled through the desolate lands until he reached a building which was intact unlike the rest.
It looked like a temple and once the beetle reached there, it stopped it's movement. Bian ascended the stairs of the temple and went within.
There were no statues depicting any gods but there were three dings present in the temple.
Upon further investigation, Bian saw a transparent crystal jug in the temple. There was a small woman in the jug who had her face buried beneath her knees.
"Sunset." Bian looked at her, then moved to tap the jug.
The woman looked up at him with golden eyes and a little bit of hope. She seemed to say something but Bian couldn't hear her.
"Stand back, I'll brake the vase."
Bian wrote it down and showed her. She immediately moved to the back of the jug while Bian summoned the golden vambrace blade.
In a fury of sparks, Bian assaulted the vase with a barrage of ferocious strikes. His moves were calculated and delivered with brutal force, riddling the vase with several marks.
It would take at most a thousand strikes to brake the vase, but Bian had better things to do with his time.
Setting the body pillar to overdrive, Bian's skin turned to pure jade as he became a living statue. His breathing ceased, a violent surge of power bubbled up from within.
Swipe!
A golden diagonal arc flew right through the vase, a few millimeters above Sunset's head. It was like a brilliant solar flare, which tore through all obstacles.
Bian restored the body pillar to is normal functioning. His body became normal once more and his breathing continued.
He felt a little bit of weakness but it was gone after a few seconds. Sunset had used those few seconds to step out of the vase and grew to her normal size.
Bian handed her his clothes and looked at her with a bit of melancholy.
"Its a pleasure to meet you Sunset. I am Bian Manwei, also called the anomaly.
I know you were a part of the blueblood special forces. Your team investigated another dimension which was the realm of god. Am I correct?"
Receiving an affirmative nod from Sunset, Bian told her to seat down as he continued.
"I hate to break it to you, but it must be said. Han Jingzhi was right, none of you who made a wish with that god had a happy ending.
Qin Haizen was found frozen in a cave and died soon after he was set free, I fear the same thing may soon happen to you."
"WHAT! No I don't think so. Are you sure? What if... how do I know you aren't lying?"
Bian sighed and pointed to the back of her hand. Her previously smooth skin now had some black slots and wrinkles, which were developing in real time.
Sunset looked extremely frightened. Her knees buckled and her body shivered, ready to collapse under its own weight.
Bian grabbed her just in time to prevent her from falling. He helped her down, and the two of them sat side by side on the floor, resting their backs on the wall of the temple.
"I said the things I said to remove the time spent on unnecessary chatter. Tell me your dreams and more about yourself, let's have a conversation."
Truly Bian had shocked Sunset to her core. The belief she held in her heart for hundreds of years was suddenly overturned with a few sentences.
She was about to die. It wouldn't be a glorious death but a whimper on a planet, where no one would even know she lived.
Well almost no one. Bian was here after all, willing to hear her story. He was a shoulder for her to lean on, to express all her emotions and grievances before she passed away.
"Thank you!"
...
Bian stood up and gave a silent prayer. He had buried Sunset with all her worries and grievances. Her hopes and dreams would not stay buried though, he would carry it out of this planet and out of the sanctuaries themselves.
Bian lifted two dings effortlessly and brought them out of the temple. The beetles seemed to rejoice as he gave the dings to them.
He went in and brought out the third ding. Saying a silent goodbye, Bian followed the beetles as they led him through the devastated plains.
Absolutely everything was in ruins save for that temple. After a few moments of travel, he encountered another structure which was in good shape.
It was a well.
The beetles tossed in the three dings one after the other and the water in the well began to boil.
With a burst of water, a giant black beetle emerged from the well. It hovered a few feet above the ground while facing Bian.
Bian noticed a sensation coming from the area where he was stung earlier on. A glowing beetle tattoo appeared on his palm as he felt a connection with the black beetle in front of him.
"Step one comeplete!"
Giving a mental command, the mouth of the beetle opened to reveal a cockpit hidden within the creature.
Bian got in and immediately activated the scan function. Several points were immediately highlighted on a holographic map of the terrain.
These points contained purple crystal cores which could be used as weapons of mass destruction, especially in the hands of his new ship.
"I'll have to name this ship too. Nothing to flashy, let's go with Black Crusier."
The Black Crusier could use those purple crystal cores as a source of energy to shoot continously beams of laser or fire all the energy in a core at once and destroy a star level interstellar spaceship.
The level of control over the Black Cruiser was determined by the mind. It was controlled entirely with Bian's thoughts.
With the current state of the Soul Pillar. Bian could operate the Black Crusier with startling precision. He flew around excavating those purple crystal core in a matter of hours.
Even if another surpasser had the Black Cruseir. It would take close to four days to accumulate the same amount Bian had.
He didn't clean out the planet thoroughly but picked up most of those crystals. He saved a massive crater site as his last destination, where it took him half a day to take all the purple crystals there, just because of the sheer amount that was present.
After accumulating thousands of purple crystal cores. Bian used his customised space ship to return back to planet Subterranea.
The black beetle shrunk down to the size of his fist and Bian placed it in a safe location. The reason he didn't use the black beetle to return was because he couldn't access the sanctuaries through it.
Only the customised space ship had a teleporter inbuilt as per his requirements.
Bian set the course and memorised the Estimated Time of Arrival, before he used the teleporter to appear back in the sanctuaries.
And he was glad he came back at the time he did.
