Rebirth: Super gene

Chapter 117: Destructive Shrimp

As the amount of sunlight reduced, visibility decreased even more. Soon the shelter was surrounded by pitch blackness at the depths of the ocean.

"Its so quiet." Hope Spirit's voice echoed in the eerie darkness.

"To become a beacon or not to become a beacon, that is the question." Bian pondered out loud.

At last the temptation for super beast souls and more importantly a battle ready berserk super pet was greater than the need to remain safe.

Bian released the Emperical Aura. The shining light attracting the dwellers of the dark at the bottom of the ocean.

"Is this safe?" Hope Spirit asked with a tinge of concern.

She had not finished voicing out her thoughts when a blue light converged on the shelter. The light directly ignored the barrier and affected everyone in the shelter.

"What is this?"

"I can't move!"

'Its like jelly.' Bian found his movements restrained. This was definately an ability of a super creature.

Soon a fifty meters shadow surfaced from the distant darkness. It was a massive, colourful shrimp with big eyes and even bigger pincers.

Each of its eyes had nine pupils, telling Bian this was a super creature with nine gene locks opened.

The massive shrimp swiftly approached the dome of the shelter, unperturbed by the restraining effect of the blue light.

"The Ink Sun Dragon will soon be in position. Hope! The barrier can take one blow of the creature right?"

"Yes if it's just one attack it shoul-"

Bang! Crack!! Splash!!!

Three sounds resounded at once. One second the shrimp was nearing the dome, then the next second, a thunderous sound erupted, followed by the sound of glass shattering and water flooding.

Bian hurriedly unsumonned the spirits and the Strength Overlord. The geno tress had deep roots and would be okay, but the everyone else was currently restricted and would be carried away by the water pressure.

'Never thought I would see a cavitation bubble so big up close.' The sixth gene lock of the three inner pillars involved the soul pillar.

This pillar had absorbed the specialty of the thunder rune, which could seemingly slow down time from his perception.

With the soul pillar's hyperactivity, the abilities of the thunder rune allowed him to think of countless scenarios in record time.

Just before the shrimp attacked, time dilated and Bian clearly saw it punch out with its big pincers at a speed defying all logic.

A cavitation bubble was formed and shattered the barrier in one blow. If the pincer had landed a direct hit, the shelter might have been blown up with a single attack.

'Well all of that doesn't matter anymore' Bian smirked. A monstrous shadow of an octopus, over ten times the size of the shrimp loomed over it.

Kree!

Bang! Pew!!! Boom!!!

The shrimp actually sensed it's life was in danger and punched out with all it's might above it. The dark beam of the Ink Sun Dragon and the cavitation bubble attack of the shrimp collided.

Out of an explosion came the weakened black solar ray which mercilessly struck down in the shrimp.

An even bigger explosion followed suit. The two pincers the shrimp had used for defense were blown off. One of its eyes was gone and it's body looked ready to collapse at any time.

The blue light weakened, allowing Bian to move a little bit better under the water.

'That's enough' Bian instructed the Ink Sun Dragon to loom over the shrimp without attacking again. It's size had reduced to three hundred meters, but it could still deal one more blast before retreating.

Bian took off like a rocket, approaching the damaged shrimp. He summoned the super beast soul of the Vermin Devil king.

A gold vambrace appeared on his right arm with a bug like design. From the wrist of the vambrace emerged a golden blade adorned with snake skin texture. The end of the sharpened blade was an extremely lethal point, capable of piercing the flesh of super creatures.

The vambrace covered his entire right arm and the blade was one and a half meters long.

Bian's body changed in the blink of an eye. His smooth skin became perfect just like a statue. He no longer needed to breathe, as he felt a sense of wholeness and terrific power bubbling up from within.

Having activated jadebody, Bian used the edge of his weapon to cut one of the legs of the distracted shrimp.

The huge creature finally took it's eyes of the menacing Ink Sun Dragon and gave Bian its full attention. Although it was was smaller that the Ink Sun Dragon, it was still twenty-five times bigger than Bian.

Unfortunately for the creature, it had lost its pincers and the blue light could not restrain Bian's movement when he used the complete jadebody.

The move wasn't ineffective, it did work on Bian. The issue is its restraining effect was of no concern to Bian when using the jadebody. It was like throwing a pebble at a river to change its flow—the effect didn't even ripple.

With a flash and a dash, Bian assaulted the shrimp growing accustomed to his new weapon.

"I'm about done breaking it in." Bian swung the blade left and right. After a few clashes with the shrimp, he had gotten a feel for the weapon.

It was basically an extension of his arm, one sharp enough to deal damage to super creatures.

With a pained howl, the shrimp turned away and began swimming into the darkness.

"Trying to escape? That ship sailed the moment you decided to approach."

With a powerful push, Bian made a beeline towards the shrimp. A clean swipe was made around its neck, as he turned around gracefully, watching the decapitated head of the shrimp flow in the bloodied waters.

[Super Creature Destructive Shrimp killed. Beast soul has been acquired. The flesh is edible. Eat the life essence to gain 0 to 10 Super Geno points randomly.]

Dying in the light of the Emperical Aura was tantamount to relinquishing it's beast soul to him.

Bian ceased the Emperical Aura and disengaged the full Jadebody. He felt a sense of weakness for a brief moment, before he recovered just as quick.

"The overall strength has increased, but so has the consumption." He moved the body of the shrimp back to the shelter, while the Ink Sun Dragon flew back to the skies to absorb some more sunlight.

The spirit hall was a hundred meters tall and free of water. Bian dragged the shrimp into the hall, then summoned Hope Spirit to ask about the barrier.

"The barrier is being repaired and can be activated after three days. Once it's up and running, we can drain the water from the shelter."

Bian wad digging out the life essence from the Destructive Shrimp while Hope Spirit was talking.

He summoned the Strength Overlord and fed it the remains of the Destructive Shrimp.

"From next time, we take the initiative to attack." Bian crossed his leg and simulated the energy flow of the Destructive Shrimp.

The life essence in his hands slowly dissolved, enhancing every facet of power in his body.

[Life essence of Destructive Shrimp eaten. One super geno point acquired]

[Life essence of Destructive Shrimp eaten. One super geno point acquired]

...

Bian gained nine super geno points from the life essence. His strength had surged even more, and he was slowly getting closer to the level of fighting super creatures without activating jadebody.

"Still not enough." Bian looked wistfully at the Strength Overlord. Even after eating a meal over twenty times its size, it showed no signs of evolution.

"Well I still have something to look forward to." Bian checked the type of beast soul of the Destructive Shrimp.

[Type of Beast Soul of Super Creature Destructive Shrimp: Gem]

"A gem type beast soul. The higher the compatability, the higher the chances-"

Bian paused as he had come to realise, wouldn't the gem type work on any beast soul.

Screw low probabilities, he was the king of randomness. His domain triumphs over all uncertainties.

Once he obtained a rare beast soul, he would fuse it with the gem and bring its rank up to super.

"This was a good harvest." With most of his time bound to be spent in the sanctuaries. Bian returned to the ship and changed its instructions to complete stealth while it would be on standby, slowly orbiting the planet.

The shelter kept moving through the deep waters. When next Bian was ready, all he would have to do is unleash the Emperical Aura and draw in more unlucky super creatures.
