Rebirth in Blood: The Sun of Sin

Chapter 11: Strange

The motorcycle raced at an incredible speed.

The modified engine roared as it quickly accelerated to 100 km/h.

Lin An, without a helmet, remained expressionless as the high-speed wind rushed at him, seemingly unaffected.

In the distance, he faintly heard someone shouting from the nearby community behind him.

However, even if he could hear it clearly, he wouldn't stop.

The modified bike, like a black shadow, zoomed down the city's outer ring road.

The road was littered with crashed cars and gruesome corpses.

Limbs and severed arms hung from the guardrails, resembling fresh cuts of meat.

Relying on his enhanced reflexes after awakening, Lin An skillfully maneuvered the bike, dodging obstacles along the way.

Even though he wasn't skilled in motorcycle riding, his extraordinary reflexes granted him driving abilities comparable to top-tier racers.

On the city's outer ring highway, a silver-white RV had two people cautiously standing atop it.

They had been trapped there for a full day and night.

No food, no water.

Fear and hunger were nearly breaking their will.

Beside them, the original driver and other passengers had turned into zombies.

Four zombies, driven by their insatiable thirst for flesh, relentlessly howled and clawed at the RV's body.

Each time the vehicle shook from their attacks, the bald man below let out a frightened scream.

On the roof, the other woman, dressed in a white short-sleeve and denim shorts, looked youthful and cute.

Unlike the bald man's panic, she held onto the RV's antenna tightly to prevent herself from falling.

"We can't stay here any longer."

"We're out of water and food. If we keep this up, we'll die from exhaustion."

The woman, Wen Ya, tried to calm herself and couldn't help but discuss their options with the bald man.

The bald man, Li Zhiping, her boss at the company, didn't respond.

He was still in a state of shock, anxiously scanning around.

Wen Ya sighed as she observed Li Zhiping's disarray.

She hadn't expected that someone his age would be more panicked than her.

Perverted and cowardly.

Just a day ago during a company team-building event, Li Zhiping had been trying to drag her to a KTV session with both soft and hard tactics.

She had no choice but to suggest an outdoor picnic to avoid the obvious intentions of the older man.

Wen Ya ignored his shouting and massaged her sore ankles.

Her slender, fair ankles had turned a little bruised from when she had climbed to the top of the RV.

"Help!"

"Is anyone out there to save us?"

After shouting for what felt like an eternity, dehydrated and exhausted, Li Zhiping felt his throat burning.

Fear and fatigue were taking their toll, and he stopped shouting in despair.

His gaze shifted to Wen Ya, who was sitting still on the roof, her eyes glazed over.

She had long, elegant legs, which she absentmindedly massaged with her fingers.

"Wen Ya…"

"You've got a pretty bad injury."

Li Zhiping swallowed with difficulty. He had been eyeing this young woman for a long time.

She was young, pretty, and not like the aging, unattractive women at the company.

He heard she graduated from a prestigious university.

"I'll help you with your foot."

Without hesitation, he made a move to massage her feet.

Wen Ya quickly stood up, her face turning wary.

"There's no need. You should worry about yourself."

She shot him a disgusted glare.

Cowardly and repulsive.

Even in this situation, he was still thinking with his base desires.

Li Zhiping didn't mind. His gaze remained fixed on Wen Ya's body.

Desire was evident in his eyes.

After shouting for a day with no response, it was clear the world had gone mad.

If they were going to die anyway, he might as well enjoy himself before the end. Pull someone down with him to avoid dying alone.

The atmosphere grew tense.

Wen Ya's expression turned cold. She noticed the change in Li Zhiping's demeanor.

They were both on the roof, and if things escalated into a fight, they could easily fall into the swarm of zombies below.

However, no matter what, she wouldn't let this old man touch her.

What to do!?

Li Zhiping's thoughts became hazy, and his fearful thoughts dissipated as he fantasized.

Unable to control himself, he loosened his belt and reached for Wen Ya.

Suddenly, the RV rocked violently.

Caught off guard, Li Zhiping stumbled and fell on the roof.

Below, the zombies went wild, clawing and jumping, desperately reaching for him.

The decaying tips of their fingers brushed his neck like an electric shock.

Li Zhiping screamed and straightened up in panic.

After a moment, he frantically turned his head back and forth, as if realizing something.

"Check me! Did I get scratched?!"

His voice was on the verge of cracking.

"Please, check quickly!"

Unable to see the back of his neck, he turned to Wen Ya for help.

"No."

Wen Ya sighed in relief, coldly replying.

A flash of unease crossed her eyes but was quickly suppressed.

Li Zhiping let out a long sigh, his tightly wound nerves finally relaxing.

It was a close call.

He would rather kill himself than turn into a zombie.

Last night, he had witnessed a colleague from the RV get scratched on the face by a zombie. Within ten minutes, that person had turned into a zombie.

Flesh falling off, rotting, and stinking.

If he hadn't reacted quickly and gotten to the roof, the corpse below with only half a foot left would've been his fate.

"I just remembered."

"There's food in the RV, and the keys are still in it."

"The roof window is open, though it's covered by a sunshade."

Wen Ya suddenly spoke, addressing Li Zhiping.

"Jump over, there's a chance we can survive."

"Just a kick and that window will break open."

"Staying here, once it cools down tonight, we won't have any chance."

Her tone was calm, stating the facts.

She hid her right hand behind her, gripping a set of keys tightly.

Hmm!?

Li Zhiping's eyes lit up. He had noticed the RV earlier, but it seemed pointless to jump over.

But now that Wen Ya mentioned the sunroof was open, it meant he could get in through the roof!

Conflicted and hesitant.

It was a bit too far to jump, and he didn't dare try.

Wen Ya didn't look at him anymore after speaking. She focused on conserving her energy, a bitter smile forming in her heart.

The sunroof wasn't open, and she had the keys in her hand.

She was tricking Li Zhiping into jumping over, and once he was about to die, she'd lead the zombies away, then escape in the RV.

There were many holes in her plan, but it was the only option she had now.

Staying here, both of them would die.

No.

One would die.

Li Zhiping had already been infected.

She had seen the small scratch on the back of his neck.

"If you want to jump, you go first!"

"Since you know, why don't you jump over?"

Li Zhiping asked with suspicion, scratching his arm.

"I could go first."

"Take off your clothes and let me enjoy myself."

He didn't even try to hide his intentions.

Wen Ya's eyes grew colder, and she remained silent.

Her right hand, hidden behind her back, was slowly feeling for a tool knife attached to the keys.

Suddenly—

"Vroom!"

The roar of a motorcycle engine grew louder as it approached.

The two on the roof froze in disbelief, listening carefully.

After confirming the sound, they both looked up at the same time, their faces filled with joy.

A vehicle was coming!

Li Zhiping hurriedly stood up, waving his arms desperately to get Lin An's attention.

"Help… me!"

He screamed at the top of his lungs, his voice cracking.

His throat dry and hoarse, the sound came out as a raspy croak.

Lin An ignored him, speeding past on the motorcycle.

The speed was so fast that even the zombies surrounding the RV didn't react in time.

"Damn it! Damn it!"

"Why didn't you stop?!"

From hope to despair, Li Zhiping stared at the receding black dot in the distance.

"What the hell!"

"Can't you see there are people here?!"

Li Zhiping couldn't hold back his curse. Wen Ya, although disappointed, quickly recovered her composure and seemed to be deep in thought.

Their eyes suddenly met.

Li Zhiping licked his cracked lips, looking pensive.

He scratched the back of his neck. Suddenly, he felt an itch, an intense heat and itching all over…

Why was Wen Ya looking so… appealing?

At a highway intersection.

"Screech—"

Tires screeched as the motorcycle skidded to a halt, performing a sharp drift.

Lin An got off the bike and gazed at the RV about 400 meters away.

He wasn't trying to be a hero.

After the apocalypse, not even the most beautiful woman dying in front of him would make him bat an eyelash.

He was just curious.

When he passed the RV earlier, he had felt a faint psychic fluctuation.

Was it equipment from the apocalypse?

Or something else?

As an awakened one, Lin An's sensory abilities far surpassed normal humans.

Especially after the game began, some "game" items would automatically emit these fluctuations, like little points of light in the dark.

"Judgment Eye!"

Lin An muttered under his breath, activating his Judgment Eye to scan.

"Human: Male (Infected)"

"Player Level: 0 (Non-awakened)"

"Human: Female (Awakened)"
