Chapter 169
Tern droves over in a rail car. Lu Junzhi and Chu Muxi got on the car first, while Zhou Xu and Christie boarded the other car behind them.
After entering through the passage, all the way to the innermost end, the rail car stopped.
Chu Muxi and Lu Junzhi got off one after the other and walked to stand in front of what looked like an elevator.
Tern walked ahead, opened a combination lock on the wall next to him, raised his hand, and pressed a series of numbers. He then unlocked it using both fingerprints and pupils.
The elevator door opened. Tern went in first and stood at the door. Lu Junzhi looked at Chu Muxi and said, “Let’s go.”
Chu Muxi and Lu Junzhi entered, followed by Zhou Xu and Christie.
The elevator door closed, and it descended all the way down, finally reaching the deepest part of the ground.
Chu Muxi glanced at the display on the screen and saw that they had descended at least to the 100th floor.
With a final ding, the elevator finally stopped.
Lu Junzhi walked out first, followed closely by Chu Muxi.
They walked to the end of the passage, where a huge and thick metal door appeared.
Chu Muxi couldn’t tell what material it was made of, but seeing it, he knew there must be something very important behind the door.
Chu Muxi’s heart stirred, and he asked Lu Junzhi in a low voice, “Is Chunjun behind this?”
Lu Junzhi nodded slightly, “Yes.”
Chu Muxi immediately became excited. He looked eagerly at the door in front of him, wishing he could rush through it and run straight to Chunjun.
Lu Junzhi approached the door, and Chu Muxi watched as he unlocked it three times before finally opening the metal door.
Just when Chu Muxi thought he would see Chunjun right away, he realized there was only a short passage behind the gate, and another door at the end of it.
“This is…” Chu Muxi was confused.
Zhou Xu explained, “This is just Chunjun’s first barrier. There are eleven more barriers ahead.”
“Isn’t this too much?” Chu Muxi was amazed.
But when he thought of how it was Chunjun being protected, he felt that such precautions were nothing out of the ordinary.
Zhou Xu continued to introduce various defence methods as they passed through the gates, but Chu Muxi had no doubt that, had it been him, he would have been dead before even reaching the first door.
Finally, they arrived at the last door, and Lu Junzhi stepped forward to unlock it.
Chu Muxi heard a clang as the lock on the metal door was released.
Then, Zhou Xu and Tern stepped forward, each standing on one side, pulling the handles of the door and slowly opening it to reveal what was inside.
As the door opened, a huge transparent cover was revealed within.
Chu Muxi raised his head, and the sight of a massive silver mecha appeared before him. It stood there cold and silent, radiating a chilling, awe-inspiring light.
“It’s so… beautiful,” Chu Muxi whispered in awe.
It was truly perfect, even just standing there quietly.
Chu Muxi could already feel a huge sense of oppression deep in his heart, radiating from the mecha’s massive frame.
It seemed that any unnecessary movement might awaken the giant mecha, which could then swallow them all whole.
“Isn’t it stunning?” Christie asked softly from behind him.
Chu Muxi stared at Chunjun, unwilling to look away for even a moment.
Anyone who saw him would likely feel the same.
At this moment, Chu Muxi finally understood what Chunjun represented in everyone’s minds.
