Chapter 162
“Hey, I’ve told you so much. Can you untie me now?” Roy said, noticing Chu Muxi was lost in thought and unable to help but remind him.
Chu Muxi glanced at him. “Don’t you still want to see Marshal Lu?”
“You agreed to let me see him?!” Roy asked in surprise.
“I did not agree,” Chu Muxi coldly replied.
Roy: “…”
‘Then why are you asking?’
An idea suddenly struck Chu Muxi. He looked at Roy and asked, “Is the person who taught you how to do things here as well? Let me think… He was one of the people who kidnapped me that day. Moreover, he was watching me from behind the surveillance cameras, wasn’t he?”
Roy’s mouth dropped open.
Chu Muxi observed his reaction and knew he was right. He smiled and said, “Thank you. Alright, I’ve asked all the questions. You can stay here. Soon, someone will come to take you away.”
With that, Chu Muxi left, ignoring Roy’s attempts to call him back, and closed the door behind him.
As soon as the door opened from the inside, Zhou Xu heard the commotion and his first reaction was to gauge Chu Muxi’s expression.
Chu Muxi’s calm demeanour showed nothing out of the ordinary.
“Any progress?” Zhou Xu asked.
Chu Muxi nodded. “Where is your boss?”
“Just downstairs,” Zhou Xu replied, carefully watching Chu Muxi’s expression for any sign of trouble. “What about that guy in there?”
Chu Muxi looked at Zhou Xu and casually said, “You can handle it. The questions have been asked.” He took a couple of steps and then stopped.
“What’s wrong?” Zhou Xu asked.
“This time you came to save me, did you catch many people?” Chu Muxi inquired.
Zhou Xu nodded. “Yes, we apprehended everyone who was here at the time. None of them escaped.”
Chu Muxi said, “There’s surveillance inside the house. Shouldn’t someone be watching me behind the cameras? Did you catch those people too?”
“Yes, we caught them. But—” Zhou Xu sneered.
Chu Muxi looked at him. “What about them?”
“One or two of them spoke quickly. The moment a laser gun was pointed at their heads, they revealed everything.” Zhou Xu recalled how the middle-aged men immediately became frightened and uneasy upon seeing them. They quickly lost their bravado and spilled everything they knew once the laser gun appeared.
But there was one person…
“What’s the matter? Is something wrong?” Chu Muxi asked, sensing something was off.
“I think there’s one person inside who doesn’t seem quite right,” Zhou Xu said thoughtfully.
That day, when they entered the room, there were five people: three middle-aged men, one in his early twenties, and one in his thirties.
The middle-aged men were the most arrogant at first but were also the quickest to give in.
The man in his early twenties had some backbone and kept insisting they were fighting for freedom, equality, and the empire. Eventually, he too gave in.
Only the man in his thirties seemed to keep a low profile. Even when their leader said he had something important to convey to Lu Junzhi, it was ‘inadvertently’ revealed by the young man in his early twenties.
Thinking back, Chu Muxi realized there was something seriously wrong with this man.
