Proyect: Bland King - Ayanokouji Kiyotaka en Blue Lock

Chapter 29: Chapter 28: One Man Army

Ego: Looks like he's finally building a backbone.

Anri: How did he copy Shido's ability?

Ego: He didn't.

Anri: Hm?

Ego: He improved upon it. His eyes can see more than Shido and his level of athleticism is comparable. All he needed to do was put himself in Shido's shoes and encompass his mentality for soccer. By relying on his instincts, he bypassed both Rin and Shido were not coordinated enough to stop him. It's almost unfair.

Anri: They don't call him a masterpiece for nothing.

Ego: He's just an amateur now, the same as everyone else. But he's getting there. Anything less of what we've seen would be a drastic disappointment and a waste of funds allocated towards Project: Bland King.

Anri: At his best, I don't see anyone in Blue Lock coming close to his prowess.

Ego: That may be, but then it'd just lead to sheer complacency. He still can't contend with the best of the world. Little by little, he'll have to drag his corpse up there, in order to reach the pinnacle of soccer.

*PHONE RING*

Anri rushed over to answer the phone. However, her face looked completely shocked as she tried to play off her surprise.

Ego: What is it, Anri-chan?

Anri: It's for you.

She handed the phone over to Ego who answered in his usual tone.

Ego: What is it? I'm pretty busy.

Mr. Ayanokouji: I won't take much of your time, Jinpachi Ego. My name is Ayanokouji Atsuomi.

Hearing the familiar name, Ego responded.

Ego: I've heard your last name before... oh are you Kiyotaka-chan's grandpa or something?

Mr. Ayanokouji: You know exactly who I am. Who do you think flagged your operation and forced you into a match you can't possibly win?

Ego: Ohhh, I remember now. You're the sore loser who wanted to enslave his brat but threw a hissy fit when you didn't get your way. Your dreams got crushed in your childhood and now you wanna force someone else to live your ideal life just to cope. People who linger on about the past can't push the needle. So, what do ya want? If it's just another one of your calls demanding one of my gems, I'll hang up. I'm a very busy guy.

Mr. Ayanokouji: I won't be demanding Ayanokouji anymore since I have no need. He'll come back to me once I dispose of your program. I did call, however, about the upcoming U-20 game.

Ego: I've already set the rules with those geezers in the commission-

Mr. Ayanokouji: I met with them and gave a sizable donation. Funny how much that fat, old man loves money. I'll be adding another player to the U-20 roster.

Anri: Eh?!

Eavesdropping on the conversation, Anri stood there shocked.

Ego: Hold on a sec, dictator.

He put the phone down and sighed while looking over to Anri.

Ego: Shut up, errand girl.

He went back to the call.

Ego: What's this about another player?

Mr. Ayanokouji: I'm adding another player into the U-20. One from my own project: Whiteroom. I've gone through all the training tapes and activities. Your methods are pointless and inefficient. How can a team of strikers possibly beat professionals from every position? You've failed all those poor children. But it's fine. I'll show you just how small you are compared to me. For the past few months, ever since you scurried away with my son, I've trained a Whiteroom student in my way. This call was only a warning. Prepare to witness all your efforts be in vain, Jinpachi Ego.

Ego: So you called me just to tell me your adding a robot on your team? What a waste of time. And I was already busy enough.

Hanging up the phone, Ego sighed again and continued to view the matches that were about to begin.

Anri: What kind of player is he putting in the game?

Ego: Must be someone like the bland masterpiece we have but a downgrade in every way. A defective copy.

Anri: That makes sense. If they already had someone as good as Kiyotaka, then he wouldn't be going after us to this extent. But still, even a defective copy is still better than most of our players.

Ego: His warning doesn't change a single thing about my approach. The plan is the same. Let's continue with the 3rd selection.

Anri nervously nodded and pondered about the potential player Mr. Ayanokouji was bringing in.

...

6 hours later...

...

Karasu: Wake up, copy cat.

Kiyotaka had been asleep in his seat for six hours in wait for his next match. And finally, the time had come.

Kiyotaka: They called us?

Karasu: Seems so. Come on. We gotta get on the field first. Six hours pass pretty fast.

Kiyotaka: Alright but I didn't even get anything to eat. Oh well.

The two made their way to the field and waited for the rest of their teammates. Kiyotaka and Karasu were going up against the number 5 and 6: Yukimiya and Otoya.

Yukimiya: Oh, look it's Karasu and... Kiyotaka, yeah that's your name. What's up?

Kiyotaka: Not much, just here to win.

Karasu: Let's have a blast.

Otoya: We'll see about that.

Soon the rest of the players came flowing in. On Kiyotaka and Karasu's team, there was Niko, Saramadara, and Yuzu.

And on the other team, Team C, it was a bunch of randoms.

To say the match was one-sided would be the understatement of the century. It was such an underwhelming match that there was no need to write anything but the outcome.

Ayanokouji assisted Karasu on the first two goals and then scored three goals in a row to clinch the victory, a complete demolition job.

Team B [5] - Team C [0]

After effortlessly destroying the team placed in front of them, Karasu and Kiyotaka returned to the VIP room as Shido and Rin were there, bickering among one another. They had six hours to kill after all.

Shido: Looks like we're going against each other again later, Kiyo.

Kiyotaka: You better do more than bicker amongst each other in your rematch. I expect great things from you.

Shido chuckled and pulled Kiyo in his grasp by throwing his right arm over his shoulder.

Shido: You don't gotta be worrying about me. I won't let that brother-loving ass ruin my game.

Kiyotaka: If you say so, then that's fine. I know you'll pull through.

Rin: You mind breaking it up? It's fucking disgusting.

Karasu: Salty loser, aren't we? Can't stop taking L's.

Rin: It won't be the same. I'll crush the lot of you.

Kiyotaka: Actions speak louder than words. Come on, Karasu, I'm hungry.

Karasu: Oh, right, you did miss lunch.

Shido, still with his arm over Kiyo's shoulder, smiled.

Shido: Of course, I'll be coming with you.

Kiyotaka: What about Rin?

Shido: Who cares about that fuck? I'm hungry too. I'm in the mood for a ribeye.

Kiyotaka: Since you lost, I don't plan on feeding you myself.

Shido looked on in sheer disappointment.

Shido: Huh?!

The three made their way to the cafeteria, leaving the lonely Rin by himself.

While in the cafeteria ordering their food, they stumbled upon Bachira and Isagi who were getting their plates of simple food.

Isagi: Oh, Kiyotaka, it's you, Karasu, and... Shido.

Kiyotaka: Nice to see you both. We're just grabbing food.

Bachira: I can't wait to see what kind of monster you really are now in our next match.

Kiyotaka: So you've already decided to join Rin and Shido's team.

Bachira: Facing the two best players in Blue Lock is tempting, but I have a feeling you're gonna give a more exciting matchup. You stole my dribbling techniques so now I gotta prove my own are better.

Kiyotaka: At least you got a good mentality. And what about you, Isagi? I forgot which team you chose.

Shido: Eh, does it really matter? He's just gonna be a liability. '

Isagi: I joined Rin and Shido. I want to prove myself by paving my path alongside Rin and against you.

Shido: Damn, he's on my-

Kiyotaka: I wouldn't have it any other way. I'm interested in how your vision's improved since I assisted you back in the first selection. I want to see it for myself.

Karasu: That's the first time I've heard him say anything good about someone aside from his side piece.

Shido: Who you calling the main item a side piece?

Kiyotaka: We're holding up the line. Let's get our meal and eat. I want to relax in peace before our final match. (Aside from a few moments of the first match, this selection hasn't lived up to my expectations from the previous two. I guess it's because of the lack of risks. I'm already guaranteed a spot on the starting eleven. The real tension will begin soon enough, when the U-20 game begins.)

Isagi: See you later, Kiyotaka.

Bachira: I can't wait.

Kiyotaka: Likewise.

...

...

...

Six hours passed by like clockwork, as Anri and Ego looked through the many camera's at their disposal viewing the top four enter the field and awaiting the rest of their teams.

Anri: These matches are intense.

Ego: Aside from one, I'd have to agree. This third selection has really starred our bland king. He's really expressing himself now, almost a different person altogether really. Well, that was my intention from the very beginning. He's going to continue to pay me back for saving his life. Anything less than stellar is unacceptable.

Shido and Rin begrudgingly entered the field on one side while Kiyotaka and Karasu, the analytical duo, readied themselves, already talking amongst themselves what they planned to do during their final match of the third selection.

Finally the remaining players arrived.

The teams were as follows:

Team A: Hiori, Isagi, Bachira, Shido, and Rin

Team B: Chigiri, Barou, Nagi, Kiyotaka, and Karasu.

Barou: The fucking star, you enjoy your limelight?

Kiyotaka looked confused.

Kiyotaka: Hm? You mean me?

Barou: Hope you enjoyed your fame. Cuz I'm coming through and taking it all for myself.

Kiyotaka: Ok.

Chigiri gave a nicer greeting, patting him on the back and smiling.

Chigiri: I heard alot about you, most of it was rumors about you and Shido, but I also heard how much you've changed your playstyle. You've gotten faster. Let's have a blast.

Kiyotaka nodded in reply.

Nagi: Let's win.

Kiyotaka: Ok.

The two exchanged completely calm and nonchalant responses as Isagi, Bachira and Hiori conversed amongst themselves while Shido stared right at Kiyotaka from across the field and smiled.

The third and final match of Kiyotaka's third selection soon kicked off.

...

...

...

Kiyotaka: Formation is simple. Me and Karasu up front. The rest of you in the back. If you want a chance to show your skills, react to our plays.

Chigiri and Nagi agreed while Barou just grunted at Kiyotaka's words.

Team A soon began with the ball. Isagi received a pass from Rin but just by taking a few steps forward, Karasu had met his advance.

Karasu: I've gone through all of the data in anticipation for this game. And out of all the players on this team, you're by far the weakest.

Isagi's passing options were completely blocked off by Karasu's anticipation.

Shido: If ya can't beat your matchup, then what good are ya?!

Bum-rushing Isagi and overtaking possession, Shido rushed forward, leaving Karasu and Isagi in his dust.

Kiyotaka: I guess the only person who can stop you is me. I'll have to take responsibility.

Shido: Hehe, just try it.

With his overwhelming speed on full display, Kiyotaka circled around and stuck out his foot in front of Shido.

He tried to tap the ball forward and through Kiyotaka's legs, but his balance and coordination prevented him from being swayed.

The two were ultimately locked in a stalemate, unable to stop the other.

Kiyotaka, already thinking ahead, released his hard hold on the stalemate as he saw Rin running right behind Shido.

Shido: Eh, ya gave up-

Moments later, Rin had taken the ball cleanly from an unsuspecting Shido and dribbled through Nagi's legs and going forward to the goal.

Rin: Getting distracted can make you a victim of an ambush, antenna fuck.

Chigiri wanted to disengage from Hiori but Kiyotaka gave him a signal, keeping him at his position.

Barou, not caring for anything Kiyotaka said, rushed towards Rin who pulled off from his desperate charge. By the time Barou realized what had happened, Rin had nutmegged and passed him entirely.

And it would have wrapped up nicely with a goal from Rin, had another factor not partake in the scuffle.

Shido: Eh, you had another gear? You're leaving me in the dust.

Just as Rin was about to shoot the ball cleanly through the Blue Lock man, Kiyotaka had leapt into the air and stole the ball as it flew in the air towards the goal.

Kiyotaka had trapped a live shot.

Rin was angry to say the least, more annoyed than anything.

Isagi: (Is he even faster than Chigiri? How did he just run past Shido. And that looked like Nagi's trapping ability but... better.)

Kiyotaka: Time for our counterattack.

With his incredible speed, he zoomed past the out-of-position Rin.K

Bachira: I can't believe it but you've gotten better. Let's see ya use my dribbling moves to get past me.

Kiyotaka crossed over the ball and feinted right and then feinted left. The whole time, Bachira made sure never to take his eyes off the ball, waiting for Kiyotaka's burst of speed to kick in.

Finally, Kiyotaka dribbled the ball through his legs and sent it gliding past Bachira's right foot at the last possible moment.

And because of his speed, he darted through a surprised Bachira, retaking his own pass.

Bachira: (For a second there, I thought I saw Loki gliding past me.)

Isagi: (He's too strong. Can he just use anyone's abilities and make them better. That's just unfair. But I can't think like a loser. I need to challenge myself!)

Kiyotaka's solo run now met another obstacle, Hiori who attempted to use the data he collected up to this point to determine what Kiyotaka would do.

Hiori: (He's most likely going to go for the goal, no? That should be what he learned from Shido.)

Karasu looked on as he was analyzing what Kiyotaka's next move could be. All the while, Chigiri surprisingly understood his train of thought and dashed forward at incredible speeds.

Barou seemed displaced from the strategies used and simply rushed forward in an attempt to entice Kiyotaka to pass towards him.

Nagi was guarded by Isagi as the two pushed forward, battling for terrain.

However, the only person who decided where the ball went, was Kiyotaka as he took on the role of a number 10.

Kiyotaka: (Seems like someone understood my train of thought.)

Before Hiori could close in and take the ball away from Kiyotaka, it had already left his feet.

Hiori: (Hm? Where did the ball go?)

It was a low pass, only levitating off the ground a couple centimeters and glided over past Barou and towards Nagi.

Isagi: (It's here!)

Nagi: You're wrong Isagi.

Isagi: What?!

The ball glided closer towards the pair.

Nagi: His pass was never meant for me.

Isagi: (No way...)

Opening his legs wide, Nagi let the ball go right through shocking Isagi completely. Kiyotaka's real target, was Chigiri this entire time.

Chigiri, without even controlling the ball, hit it directly in the bottom left corner of the net. Since the counterattack was so vibrant and fast paced, there was no one guarding Chigiri.

It was a simple goal.

Team A [0] - Team B [1]

Isagi looked back over to Kiyotaka who smiled slightly, relishing in a perfect play he devised from the chaos both teams created.
