Proyect: Bland King - Ayanokouji Kiyotaka en Blue Lock

Chapter 28: Chapter 27: In Your Element

The tempo of the game completely changed the moment Karasu passed the ball forward to Kiyotaka.

Kiyotaka: Anyone who can't keep up with my mind can't participate in the U-20 game. It's as simple as that.

Raichi rushed forward along with the pair to form their triangular offense.

Rin was amazed at the change of direction. As soon as he tried to go 1v1 with Kiyotaka, he passed it right to Raichi who sent it through to Karasu, and who sent a clean through ball right to Kiyotaka.

Kiyotaka: Decent pass.

Extending his leg, he stopped the ball midair flawlessly but, of course, there was someone else who also knew how Kiyotaka thought.

Shido: Let's have a blast, Kiyo! Show me what ya got!

Raichi and Karasu darted forward while being guarded by Nanase and Igarashi.

Kiyotaka wasted no time and kicked the ball right towards Raichi midair.

The trio passed to one another in an indefensible triangle meticulously making their way to penalty box.

Raichi was soon double-teamed by Igarashi and Tokimitsu.

Raichi: Fuck, out of my way!

Before he could be dispossessed, he was able to send a flaky pass over to Kiyotaka who controlled it in place and pushed forward.

Kiyotaka: (This still isn't enough. Why can't I experience it now? Why can't I reach flow? Is this just not exciting enough now?)

Rin darted forward to meet his advance and Shido didn't falter. The dysfunctional double-team was now established.

Raichi: Right here!

Instead of passing it to Raichi, Kiyotaka looked one way and passed the other way right into the penalty box.

What surprised Rin and Shido, was that Shiguma and Gagamaru had already rushed the penalty box and used their tall frames to win an aerial battle.

Karasu: Nice pas-

*SWISH*

The ball went right past Karasu, then past Shiguma, towards the left-most side of the box.

Kiyotaka: It's meant for the mountain man.

Gagamaru headbutt the soccer ball dead in the center, right past the Blue Lock man's hands and through the net.

Team A [2] - Team B [3]

Shido: Aw~ lucky... what i'd kill for another Kiyo pass.

Rin: Shut up, antenna fuck. We're losing.

Shido: I have two goals. You're the one holding me back, incest supporter.

Kiyotaka: (He was late on the header and got lucky it went past a second-rate keeper. I had to guide the whole play. With Shido, he just knew where he wanted it... no... what's the point in dwelling about this? I have a top four player on my squad. I'll just continue moving forward.)

Karasu: Hehe, I thought for second you were passing to me but it soared right past me.

Kiyotaka: By focusing on a triangle offense, it opened up the two unused weapons on our team and Gagamaru capitalized. That's all there is to it. The goal of these games is to find the most favorable teammates in the U-20 game. It only makes sense to play like this.

Gagamaru ran over to Kiyotaka.

Gagamaru: Nice pass!

Kiyotaka: Nice header.

The two shared a high five, as the annoyed pair of Shido and Rin kicked off as everyone returned to their positions.

Rin began to analyze the field using his incredible intuition and football IQ. He was thinking up all possible connections. The key to beating Kiyotaka would be through chemical reactions.

But of course, despite needing to link up with Shido in order to win, he could not think of a situation where they'd work together.

So Rin didn't waste any time.

He shot the ball cleanly from the half court much to Shido's shock. It soured right towards the goal with beautiful velocity as it curved right.

*BONK*

However, it was off by a single inch and in the realm of professional soccer, an inch can be the difference from a goal or a failure. And this one... was an utter failure.

Rin: tsk!

Shido: What the hell was that? Did you honestly think you were that good. Just stick to defense if you're gonna fuck it up that bad, oni-chan lover.

 Raichi: COUNTERATTACK!

Raichi passed the ball up to Shiguma who sent an average pass up to Karasu.

Karasu: All right, let's go for the jugular.

Rin: Like hell you are-

Karasu: I don't wanna fight you.

He passed it over to Kiyotaka as Karasu switched to Igarashi.

Karasu: After all, I like to feed on the weak every now and then.

Shido: Brother-lover might have fucked up but you're not getting past me, Kiyo!

Kiyotaka: We'll see about that.

This time, he didn't pass to anyone. Instead, he attacked on his own and dueled Shido. The ball flicked about from his left foot to his right in an attempt to find a perfect attack he could use against the likes of Shido.

This flashed his memory right back to his evening of fun with Shido when they went 1v1. Although he beat him, Shido did bypass his field of vision on a couple of occasions. He just has to be aware of his physique and unpredictability.

Kiyotaka: (Now that I think about it, I haven't tried to imitate the pantheon of greats I reviewed during my time in Project: Bland King. I wonder how my dribbling moves have improved.)

With this, Kiyotaka took a different approach and performed two stepovers and dashed forward, while Shido kept up.

Shido: What are you plannin, genius?

Kiyotaka: Watch with your own eyes, Ryusei.

Shido blushed. He was completely shocked.

Shido: Eh, you said my first nam-

Kiyotaka performed a rainbow flick that bypassed Shido completely but his cells wouldn't allow his mind to screw up. He crashed right into Kiyotaka's side, shoulder to shoulder.

Kiyotaka: Not bad, I thought I tricked you there.

Shido: You might be able to screw with my mind but my cells were made to suit my explosion.

Kiyotaka dropped back and crossed the ball through his legs and flicked it forward in an attempt to confuse Shido. He stuck out his foot and maintained his balance. But this was all to the benefit of Kiyotaka. He knew Shido's dominant foot was his right so he purposely positioned the ball to his left, giving him a sliver of an opening.

Kiyotaka: That was close.

Hitting his full speed, he blitzed right through Shido and dashed forward, passing through both Igarashi and Tokimitsu who came in to assist. Rin, however, had peeled off Karasu and switched to Kiyotaka.

Kiyotaka: You see everything just like me. I can tell you've improved. But you're still just a corpse, so you wouldn't be able to do anything

Pretending to dribble forward, Kiyotaka instead slightly tapped the ball to his left, easily placing it in the path of Karasu.

Karasu: Finally...

He hit the ball dead center with conviction. Despite Shido's drastic turnaround effort to block the shot, it hit true and went past the goalkeeper for the fourth goal of the game.

Team A [2] - Team B [4]

Karasu: Easy...

Kiyotaka: Not bad, coyote.

Karasu: Thanks for the assist.

Raichi: Let's go!

On the other side, Igarashi jumped in and pumped his fist.

Igarashi: We can still make it a game! I'll hel-

Shido yanked him off his feet and in the air.

Shido: Shut the fuck up, Baldy. I don't need to hear an NPC's dialogue right now. And besides, it's all that fucks fault anyway.

Rin: I'm not the one he passed through with sheer ease. You should work on your defense if you don't wanna embarrass yourself anymore than you've already done.

Relinquishing his hold on Igarashi, Shido let him drop to the ground as he was ready to charge right into Rin once again as he did the same.

But before that could happen, Kiyotaka stepped in once again, and yanked Shido from the back of his shirt away from Rin to his shock.

Kiyotaka: I know he's pretty annoying but please bear with it. We're already going to play in the U-20 game together. Are you going to jeopardize it by getting a red card right now?

Shido's eyes widened as he understood the situation and snapped himself out of his aggressive trance.

Speaker: Ayanokouji Kiyotaka, yellow card.

Kiyotaka: Just get along till we get back on the same team, Shido. Then we can be a duo again.

With these words, Shido smiled.

Shido: Will do, Kiyo-kun!

After this, Kiyotaka sighed and walked over back to his side of the pitch.

Karasu: Are you two a thing? He's just listening to everything you're saying.

Kiyotaka: Something like that. He just needs to know there are more important things than a training match. The U-20 game will actually have an audience. It's the ultimate stage for his form of football. A person with as much talent as Shido deserves a standing ovation. That should be his goal. In any case...

He walked back to his position along with Karasu.

Kiyotaka: ... let's wrap this game up quickly.

...

...

...

Nanase kicked off the play by passing it forward to Rin. In this moment, Kiyotaka met Rin's eyes and began to analyze the situation in front of him.

Kiyotaka: (Rin will not make the same mistake twice, attempting to go 1v1 against me. Nanase and Igarashi need to be cut off as Rin's support and Shido should be left alone. Rin won't pass to him.)

Rin spun around Raichi, breaking his ankles and sending him to the ground using his dribbling.

Raichi: Fuck!

He sent a quick pass up to Igarashi who sporadically sent another pass over to Nanase as Karasu realized exactly what they were doing.

Karasu: (Oh, so they're trying to copy our recent attack? Well good luck with that. You don't have the personnel for it.)

Although they were making ground, Rin himself knew this wasn't good enough. Nanase and Igarashi hardly were the best support he could ask for, so he discarded Igarashi and utilized Tokimitsu, forcing Karasu to switch off.

Tokimitsu: I don't wanna mess it up!

Shido was on his own in the front, waiting for his chance to pounce.

Kiyotaka: (Not a bad pattern but it's still too slow.)

He sped full speed over to where Tokimitsu was receiving a pass from Rin. He attempted to hold his ground and body Kiyotaka, but his entire shoulder and upper half of his body flew clean off Kiyotaka's 'steel' wall of a core.

Tokimitsu: (It's just like Blake's pressure, what the fuck?! I can't move him!)

Before Kiyotaka could retrieve the ball, Tokimitsu did kick it away to the lone Igarashi.

Shido: Pass it over her, Baldy! Now!

Igarashi: Ah, don't kill me!

He kicked the ball right into the air on a trajectory over to Shido who leapt right above the stationary Shiguma and controlled it with his chest.

Shido: Easy, now it's time for some fun.

In one motion, the ball went cleanly through Shiguma's feet, nutmegging him. During his 1v1 session with Kiyotaka, Shido had developed his dribbling by viewing the combinations Kiyotaka utilized against him. He couldn't replicate them all but he could improve on his simple 1v1 package. He needed to in order to go against Rin's almost insistent play with others to make himself better.

Shido cut inside through the left, soon met by Karasu.

Karasu: Let's see what kind of tricks ya got when you're the one starting the plays.

Shido: I don't need any tricks, coyote.

He cut to the right and held Karasu in place with his incredible core strength.

Shido: I just needed you out of the way.

*SMASH*

He hit the ball with power right towards the top right corner of the goal. However, once again, Kiyotaka soared through the air and with the top of his cleat, hit the ball right into the top post as it deflected out of the box.

Kiyotaka: I almost didn't reach it.

Shido: Eh?!

The ball, however, beautifully fell down like a gift from the gods outside the penalty box to the feet of... Rin.

In one motion, He kicked the ball to the side and curved it all around the left to the top corner, scoring a goal from outside the box.

Team A [3] - Team B [4]

Rin: I'll crush all of you.

...

...

...

Kiyotaka: Nice shot. It was pretty lucky though. But I guess it makes sense. You did need something to even the playing field.

Rin glanced over to Kiyotaka as both sides went to their sides.

Kiyotaka: Karasu.

Karasu: Hm?

Kiyotaka: If we keep drawing this game out, they're going to think they have a chance at winning. So send me a cross and I'll finish it.

Karasu: Huh? But that's not your playstyle. You're not a poacher.

Kiyotaka: I've already seen enough to try to be one. Make sure I'm at least part of the way close to the penalty box. Drop back and send a decent pass. I'll make sure to put it away.

Karasu: (He thinks he can take on those two monsters in a brawl for the ball at the same time? Optimistic much?)

He sighed.

Karasu smiled.

Karasu: Let's see what you can do, copier. I wanna see if it's the same ability or an even better one.

Kickoff began as Kiyotaka passed to Karasu and sprinted forward, surprising Rin. Shido, however, knew what he was going to do.

Shido: Hehehehe!!! Don't tell me you got my ability all figured out? Let's go copier! Show me how you can use my ability.

Rin: (Copier? It makes sense. He copied my shot technique during our first match. He probably thinks I'm just going to roll over and play dead. I'll stop you.)

Karasu gave a quick pass to Raichi as he saw Karasu drop even further back behind him. Up front, Kiyotaka continued to dash forward, with both Rin and Shido bumping into him from both sides.

Shido: He's mine! Get away!

Rin: Lay off, antenna freak. He's my kill. My revenge.

Raichi: (Why is he charging forward like Shido usually does? Wait, is he going to copy Shido?)

He passed right back to Karasu who scanned the area in front of him. A short pass would make the entire play crumble. And a pass too long would be like turning over the keys to your father after borrowing his car.

So he waited...

... until the pieces lined up in his favor.

Tokimitsu had charged forward to block the pass attempt but to no avail. The ball soared right off Karasu's feet and into the air.

Kiyotaka, along with Rin and Shido, all reached the border of the penalty box. They were at the leftmost side.

Rin closely observed Kiyotaka and looked surprised over one small detail that other might have overlooked.

Rin: (Why isn't he looking for the ball?)

Shido: (Are you relying on your very own spatial awareness, you monster?)

Kiyotaka: (If I continue to make plays for others, I won't get picked as a striker. A striker's job is to score goals. Assists are completely useless in the philosophy of a striker. So I want to see... if I have what it takes... to become a striker. And in order to do that, I need to use the best striker in Blue Lock as my template, Ryusei Shido.)

The ball now dropped inside the penalty box a few feet away from Kiyotaka's head. He still didn't look anywhere near the ball's direction.

Instead, he stopped his run quickly and controlled the ball with his chest despite the pressure Rin and Shido had over him.

Rin: (What?)

Shido: (He's using everything he's learned from the players he's beat to make his own poacher build. Ah... I keep seeing it... an explosion is coming... a supernova...)

Because Kiyotaka turned his body to the right, the ball dropped firmly down to his right leg. Rin extended his leg as Shido did the same.

Instead of shooting right away, he flicked it over to his other leg. After all, he was ambidextrous.

Kiyotaka: It's over.

He kicked the ball midair, performing an acrobatic volley only he could complete. The ball soared right past the range of both Shido and Rin as it entered the net at an incredible velocity, securing Kiyotaka's sheer and utterly dominant win.
