Pokémon: Worlds Divided

Chapter 7: Returning Home!

Leon gazed at the 'pond' before passing through the tunnel entrance. This pathway was filled with darkness, Leon couldn't see any signs of light.

'Many hostiles are down this way...' Beldum sent Leon a telepathic message.

'Hostiles?' Leon knew it was referring to Zubat, because most Rock Pokemon weren't hostile by nature unless provoked.

'Is it the Zubats?' Leon asked.

'Yes, there are plenty of them, and a large Pokemon is hiding beneath the surface.' Beldum even began to describe it, saying that it was a Pokemon that resembled a long snake.

'How troublesome...' Leon thought it was too dangerous, he already had one close call.

"Do I risk it...?" Leon thought about it for a moment, but he saw that only Beldum was his protector.

"I need more Pokemon to aid me in this exploration." Leon knew his limits, it was best to heal Aron and Nosepath to aid him later.

"In order to make my own remedies and potions, I'll need to learn to craft. I will never pay those ridiculous prices at that Pokemart."

Leon didn't have potions, but there was a Pokemon Center in town he could use. That's when a sudden insidious thought ensued Leon.

Could he rob the Pokemart?

"We'll see how their attitude is later down the line." Leon sighed before turning to leave.

Leon questioned if he should come here with his siblings. He wanted to take them out so they could catch their first Pokemon.

"The best place, for now, will be to hunt in the forest. Hmm, but I heard that was the most dangerous place."

"Should I head to the Wetlands first, I heard there were some Lotad out there." The Wetland was the least dangerous place to visit among the three hunting grounds.

"The wetlands it is." Leon found his answer.

Leon had been exploring the mountains for a little over two hours, even though it didn't seem like it. As Leon emerged from the cave, he noticed a small, brown Pokemon and decided to go back the way he had come.

It had appeared out of the small dens he saw before he entered this cavern. Leon knew that this was a Sandshrew.

Before Leon could inspect the Sandshrew, another Pokemon suddenly popped out of the ground. This scene briefly stunned Leon before he saw that the Pokemon was a Diglett.

Leon was stunned that a Diglett could appear on an island surrounded by water. This Pokemon usually could only appear on the mainland of any region.

Leon examined them both and found them to be completely weak. He didn't think much of them because their aptitude was limited to the F-rank.

Leon kept going and passed these two, they weren't hostile to humans by nature. However, Sandshrew was a curious Pokemon and had even thought of following Leon.

"I didn't even get a chance to use my camp equipment. I guess I could use it tomorrow when I go out with Leona and Lars."

Leon didn't venture further into the mountain because it was too dark. Also, he risked being attacked by a swarm of Zubat or possibly falling to his death.

"The mountain is crucial for me now, since I need Iron to feed my Pokemon." Leon could go to the local store and purchase it as well.

This only made him want to complete this first mission sooner, so he could earn the reward. Afterward, Leon exited the mountain cave—only to find that the downpour was still ongoing.

"Let's walk around this forest for a bit to see if I can find a Zigzagoon." Even if he had to sneak attack one, Leon would do it.

Leon wandered through the forest that surrounded the peak. He went by numerous trees and a number of bushes.

Leon saw that some of these bushes and trees had berries on them. Beldum levitated and handled the berries in the trees, while Leon picked the ones from bushes.

"There are Raspberries as well?" These were berries from Pokemon Go, as they looked alike. According to the description, Leon was right, they were exactly the same.

Leon put the items he found into his inventory. He knew they could be used as food or bait for water-type Pokemon later on. While he was doing this, he noticed something moving on a nearby tree. It was a red caterpillar-like creature that stood out from the rest of the surroundings.

No doubt, this was a Wurmple.

Leon collected the berries from Beldum and quickly instructed it. In a matter of seconds, Wurmple was knocked off the tree, defeated, and captured.

"All I need to do now is raise its level by two to get another Pokedex entry." He now had Four new entries.

Leon searched the forest for a while but he didn't encounter any Zigzagoon. Perhaps they were hiding away until the rain subsided.

Left with no choice, Leon resigned for the day and proceeded back home. Before going home, Leon went to visit the Pokemon Center.

Once Leon entered the Pokemon Center, he saw that the place was practically dead.

"Oh, a patient. How may I help you?" A woman sat behind the counter with a bored expression.

Before this, she was playing with her fingernails and contemplating life on this boring island.

"Yes, could you please heal my Pokemon?" Leon approached the desk, took out four Pokeballs, and set them down on the countertop.

"Hmm, sure. Let me check their condition first before that." After taking the Pokeballs and scanning them with the machine, she received her answer.

There was no harsh or severe damage to them. Their injuries were minor, after all, they were only beaten up with blunt attacks.

The nurse stated that they would be back to normal within thirty minutes. She took the Pokeballs and went to the back with them.

Leon sighed and took a seat in the waiting area.

Leon saw a magazine and decided to check it out. There, he saw that it was about the gym leaders of the region.

"Good to see that nothing has changed in this world when it comes to gym leaders." Leon saw from each page that the gym leaders were the same.

Roxanne was the first gym leader.

"If it was anything like the series and games, I should have the advantage against her."

Leon had an Aron and Beldum, so it should be enough to defeat her. He thought.

"These are gym leaders, so they'll be skilled in fighting." Leon couldn't underestimate her when the time came.

"I'm getting excited just thinking about my adventures. Even though this sounds childish, I can't wait."

As Leon browsed through the magazine, he came across a new topic to him: guilds. However, there wasn't much information provided about them.

Leon leaned back in his chair, set down his magazine, and mulled over his next move.

"Ah, for now, let's continue the schedule I already had in place. I should just head to the Wetlands tomorrow and go from there."

Leon needed to train Beldum and his other Pokemon up more. He also needed to capture more Pokemon and go back to the mountain to defeat that Carvanha.

After an hour of waiting, the nurse came over and handed Leon his Pokemon. This Island provided free healing services for Pokemon, exclusively.

After all, the Pokemon Alliance supported the Pokemon Centers and Marts.

"Please, come again." Honestly, the nurse hoped Leon would come again to relieve her of her boredom.

"Thank you, I'll take my leave now." Leon quickly left the center, he was eager to check out his new Pokemon.

Leon quite liked the rainy weather, he just kinda found it hard to see sometimes. In no time, Leon arrived home safely.

"Leon, you're back!" Leon was greeted by his sister the moment he appeared.

"Of course, did you think I would die or something?" Leon grinned and said.

"No, no, no, of course not!" Leona hurriedly said in horror.

How could she hope that?!

"I'm joking. Anyway, I managed to catch some Pokemon." Leon had been gone for two and a half hours.

"What? Are you serious?" Suddenly, Lars appeared out of the backroom with an expression of shock.

"Hahaha, why do you look like that? Of course, I'm serious." Leon couldn't help but laugh seeing Lars' expression.

Cough

"Ahem, can you show them?" Leona coughed and said curiously.

"I had to set a trap to get my first Pokemon and it aided me in catching more Pokemon." Leon took out the Pokeballs. Afterward, Leon tossed the first Pokemon out, which was Beldum.

"It's r-really a Pokemon..." Lars's eyes widened as he stared at Beldum with an incredulous expression.

"Seeing is believing in some cases, this is one of those cases." Leon could see that Lars was rubbing his eyes as if he was dreaming.

"Wow, what is it called? I heard Pokemon have different elemental types." Leona wanted to touch Beldum but ultimately decided against it.

"This Pokemon is called Beldum. Its typing is Steel and Psychic, which is quite good." Leon suddenly remembered something.

Afterward, Leon pulled out the magazine he had acquired from the system starter box.

"Learn about the Pokemon in this book since these are the native Pokemon of this region. You both should study them all and remember them well."

Leon handed the manual to Leona for her and Lars to study, as this was something he didn't really need. Fortunately, they already learned how to read and write from the orphanage.

Leona opened the manual and flipped through it, feeling emotional inexplicably.

It was like a full-color picture book that gave brief explanations and information about the Pokemon. Leona grew silent as she immersed herself in each page she turned.

"Why does it look like a metal leg of some sort?" Lars broke the silence as he analyzed Beldum and said.

"Most Pokemon have similarities to their future evolutions. It does look like an arm and leg, this will be a part of it when it evolves."

Indeed, this applied to many Pokemon such as Beldum, Bagon, Charmander, and many more.

"Here it is, it's the Pokemon right here." Leona found the page that displayed Beldum's evolutionary line.

"What? This little thing is going to evolve into that?!" Lars almost grabbed the book before Leona moved it away.

This thing looked monstrous and intimidating.

"It called a M-me-ta...gross." Lars sounded the word out slowly, so as to not butcher the name.

"Hmm, the color is different compared to the book." Leona looked back and forth at Leon's Beldum and the book variant.

"Yeah, mine is a little different. It's known as a shiny Pokemon, which is rarely sighted. They're the same, they just have different colors and that's all."

Afterward, Leon showed them Aron, Nosepass, and Wurmple. Wurmple scared Leona, so Leon was forced to recall it.

Lars was astonished at the amount of Pokemon Leon had caught. He was sure now, he wanted to become a Pokemon trainer!
