Pokémon: Worlds Divided

Chapter 5: Cave Exploration!

Beldum eyed its target, seemingly enthusiastically about its first battle. However, right as Beldum floated forward, Zigzagoon tilted its head before quickly turning around and fleeing.

"What!" Leon didn't expect Zigzagoon to flee just like that. Its eyes looked to be saying that it didn't have time to fight.

"I guess I can forget about capturing a Zigzagoon, for now." Leon wasn't disappointed about Zigzagoon fleeing.

After all, Zigzagoon was a common Pokemon in Hoenn. That is when a thought suddenly ensued Leon and he paused.

"Beldum has such terrible moves and it won't learn any moves until it reaches Level Twenty," Leon recalled the item he received from the Starter Box.

Origin TM.

Right as Leon pulled out the Origin TM, a system prompt appeared before him. It asked Leon if he would like to use this TM on Beldum, the summoned Pokemon.

Leon quickly agreed. This Origin TM would only teach Beldum a move it was capable of knowing. Furthermore, it would be randomly selected between these moves.

It was between Iron Head and Zen headbutt. Right then, Beldum's body flashed for a second before concluding.

Leon checked Beldum's status his eyes lit up with joy. Beldum had learned the move Iron Head as a TM.

"Iron Head is the best option this early, so this is the best possible choice." Leon smiled at Beldum and said.

Afterward, Leon continued scouting around the mountain until he found the cave. He stepped into the mouth of the cave, before pulling out his flashlight.

Leon's intention wasn't to go up the mountain in the first place. Going up a mountain in this weather was too dangerous.

In the far reaches of the cave, Leon could see light. Leon took a deep breath and entered the cave. Beldum trailed closely behind, as if it anticipated something.

'Multiple targets, ahead.' Suddenly, Beldum spoke to Leon telepathically.

When Leon heard Beldum speak, he slowed down. At that moment, Leon was attacked by a silhouette that descended from the cave's ceiling.

"Crap..." Leon fell backward to dodge the sudden sneak attack.

"Iron Head this thing!" Leon quickly ordered.

Beldum didn't need to see its target to know where it was since it could sense it. Beldum moved like a rocket, torpedoing its body toward the dark assailant.

The attacker was quickly blown from its high place and fell to the ground unmoved. Leon heard the screeches of the assailant and knew it was a Zubat.

Leon flashed his light and saw that it was indeed a Zubat. It was at Level two of all things, so it didn't stand a chance.

Leon stared at Zubat through the lens of the flashlight with curiosity. From its status, it wasn't anything significant.

Leon didn't bother with Zubat and continued toward the bit of light. However, through this, he was attacked multiple times by Zubats.

Beldum even leveled up in the process of battling so much. Leon and Beldum left a trail of Zubat bodies in their passing, littering the ground.

That's when Leon was close to the light, he slowly approached and peeked his head around the corner.

Leon discovered a vast network of caves there, where he observed multiple moving rock figures. Leon observed gems, some of which seemed to be tumblestones.

"Has anyone even discovered this cave? This has to be a new discovery; there's no other way around it."

Once Beldum saw these things before it, a sense of greed appeared in its eye. Those Tumblestones and moving figures were appealing to it.

They were Geodude and many of them at that. There was another Pokemon that stood out the most to Leon.

This Pokemon had an angular, abstract face made out of bluish-gray metal, with heavy brows over constantly shut eyes and a pinkish-red nose jutting out like a three-dimensional arrow.

"My gosh, it's actually a Nosepass." Leon had heard a few guards talking about this Pokemon. They mentioned that it was a rare sight to see or come across on this Island.

After all, it was only seen once because they only dwell in caves exclusively.

Leon saw Geodudes working together by moving rocks to a certain location. They look to be covering up places leaking water.

'Food!' Beldum was about to burst forth and attack the closest Geodude.

'Stop!' Leon hurriedly said with a change in expression. Beldum, fortunately, remained in place and didn't attack.

Nosepass and Geodude weren't aggressive Pokemon by nature, thus, they minded their own business.

'Dang it, this Nosepass is eating the Tumblestones and storing the gold ore in its nose!' Leon's expression darkened a bit.

That gold could be sold at a high price, but this Nosepass was stuffing its nose with it. It was probably going to slowly break this gold down and add it to its composition. This would aid it in evolving later down the line.

Leon inspected Nosepass first before making any decisions.

-----

The only problem was once Beldum entered the battle, there was no retreat. Leon wouldn't be able to recall Beldum due to Nosepass's [Magnet Pull] ability.

'It's still a rock type. Beldum, do you see that Pokemon over there eating those minerals? I want you to attack it. Don't you eat it, this is a guy I want captured alive.'

Leon knew that Nosepass would be an irresistible treat to Beldum. Beldum killed its prey by hitting it with a psychic blast that would destroy the target's mind. Afterward, they could feed on the target at their leisure.

However, most didn't need to do this since they would be taken care of by Metang. This is until they become a Metang themselves; that's when they would have to hunt for themselves.

"Go, attack! Iron Head!" Beldum didn't hesitate and torpedoed forward, its body wrapped in a metallic tint.

Nosepass was caught off guard, it was already a slow Pokemon. Beldum slammed into Nosepass and sent it flying, scraping against the nearest wall and falling to the ground.

Beldum and Nosepass actually weighed around the same, with Nosepass being slightly heavier.

The group of Geodude looked at the fight that Beldum had started, but they didn't bother helping or getting involved.

Nosepass barely got up from the attack, it had taken severe damage from the [Iron Head].

"What can you do? Even if you learned Rock Throw, it would be useless, you're completely outmatched."

Leon grinned as he watched the battle from afar with assurance.

Nosepass attacked by exuding a Magnetic force from its body. It was trying to put pressure on Beldum, which caused it to stumble slightly.

"Magnet Pull can do that? It can't do that in the game, right?" Leon knitted his eyebrows, this wasn't possible. This was the real world, so those rules didn't apply.

Leon understood that he'd be a fool to rely on game mechanics.

"You little big nose, just get caught already." Leon came forward and ordered Beldum to attack again with [Iron Head].

Clearly, the Magnetic force wasn't enough to deter Beldum as it quickly lashed out at Nosepass again. Beldum smashed into Nosepass's large nose and sent it sliding across the rocky ground.

The Geodudes seem to dislike all of the noise taking place. They were frowning their eyes at the situation. Leon ran over and pulled out a Pokeball before tossing it at the fallen Nosepass.

"Come to Daddy!" Leon laughed happily and said.

Nosepass was encapsulated by the Pokeball with a flash of red light. Leon and Beldum watched with anticipation as the Pokeball shook from left to right.

Within seconds, Nosepass was caught!

"Yes! Good job Beldum!" Leon praised Beldum for its undeterred determination. He patted Beldum's hard and cold body, but Leon doubted that it could really feel it.

Afterward, Leon picked up the Pokeball and placed it in his Inventory.

Leon Inspected Beldum and found that it had leveled up to Seven. He could also see that it was really close to level Eight.

"That Iron Head move is really a lifesaver, this will make leveling easier. Once you become a Metang, the sky is the limit, haha!"

Leon looked toward the group of Geodude who went back to working again. He wanted to attack these Geodude, but they would probably gang up on Beldum.

Leon inspected them and found that their only offensive move was Tackle. They shouldn't pose a threat to Beldum at all.

"Hmm, before that. Beldum, break those Tumblestones and carefully dig out that gold; don't eat them."

Beldum got to work while Leon carefully instructed it. Leon was able to collect a decent amount of Tumblestones and gold.

Multiple Tumblestones were broken and taken into Leon's Inventory.

"This gold could be sold at a decent price like the gold nuggets." Money was needed the most right now since it would aid him and his family.

He also found much to his joy, that these gems were actually not gems. One was a Water stone, a Damp rock, and a Green shard.

"This cave hasn't been explored yet, there might be many more treasures lurking about." This was Leon's first day in the Pokemon world and he was getting so fortunate.

Leon was fearless about exploring and wanted to be strong in this world. He couldn't be scared, lest he missed out on an opportunity.

With a smile, Leon placed his newly acquired items into his Inventory. With so many attacks from Zubat, these islanders wouldn't bother to explore this cave anyway.

Leon turned to the Geodudes, he wanted to have Beldum attack one. However, it was best to be safe rather than sorry. Leon sought to find an isolated Geodude or some other rock type.

Their levels weren't that high, with the highest being at Level Six, but their numbers were no joke.

Leon counted about Twenty-two of them, which would be too overwhelming—even for Beldum.

Leon continued his exploration of the cave, which now required him to use his flashlight again.

Once again, Leon was attacked by Zubat, but their levels seemed to be higher this time around. Beldum fought again before reaching Level Eight during the confrontation.

"Running into these guys in a cave system at every step isn't exaggerated." Leon believed the games were right in this regard; these Zubat were everywhere he went.

Leon begrudgingly continued through the cave, flashing his light on the ground, ahead, and at the ceiling of the cave.

Beldum closely followed and he ran into 2 Geodudes on the way.

"It looks like your food has arrived, Beldum. Attack them, use [Iron Head]." Leon thought that Two Geodudes weren't a problem for Beldum.

Beldum looked excited and targeted one of the Geodude right away.

"Dude..." Geodude looked surprised, but he didn't have time to process anything when it was smashed away.

Geodude's partner, Geodude, lunged at Beldum with a tackle. However, Beldum was unmoved by Geodude's attack.

Not only was Beldum of a higher level, but Geodude's tackle was also not very effective. Furthermore, Beldum weighed more than 2 times as much as Geodude.

Geodude was completely outmatched.

"Mhmaa..." Beldum slammed into the opposing Geodude; one-shotting it!

Beldum didn't wait for Leon's command. It jumped Geodude and used its claws to tear into its body, and proceeded to eat it!

"My gosh..." Leon quickly turned his flashlight away from this sight. Unfortunately, he could hear the crunching rock sounds, as Beldum tore into Geodude.

While this going on, Leon checked his completion status.

First Contact

Objective: Collect 10 Different Species Of Pokemon Native to the Hoenn region.

[2/10]

"Oh...Is it finally counting Beldum as a capture?" Leon wondered about this before, but he didn't put too much thought into it.

Beldum ate both Geodude, but Leon didn't watch. In fact, he didn't dare point his flashlight in that direction after Beldum was finished.

Afterward, both Leon and Beldum kept going through the cave cautiously. The wall was rocky, while the ground was no longer rocky, but filled with soft soil.

Leon spotted several burrows around here, which spiked his awareness. Nonetheless, Leon kept walking until he saw a light reflecting off the cave wall corner ahead.

Leon crouched down and walked toward the location slowly. Afterward, he peeked around the corner and his eyebrows rose with interest.

"Oh, what a nice location, it looks really comfortable." Leon saw a pond that dwelled under a hole in the ceiling of the cave.

This hole cascade light into the cave while water constantly dripped heavily from it. Leon knew right away that this hole was cascading light from outside.

Leon spotted movements in the corner of the cave. The little figure seemed to have sensed something and turned around.

That's when it saw Leon.
