Chapter 3: First Pokemon!
Leon was thinking about the best possible Pokemon. It had to be a Pokemon that was really powerful and didn't take so long to evolve.
"If I can see the information on items, could I possibly see the information on Pokemon?" Leon wasn't sure, but he had a feeling that he probably could.
"In any case, let's see." Leon focused back on the subject at hand. He thought about the starters, but using one of the trio starters was too generic.
This was not to say that he wasn't interested in getting them; rather, there were initially better options.
"Do I even need to do much thinking? The Hoenn region is the only region by far that has two Pseudo-Legendaries."
That's right, there were two of them. Both were Bagon and Beldum, but it was clear who was the rarest of the two.
Leon could only go on the logic of the game because he didn't watch the anime much.
According to him, Beldum was the rarest. If this world was somewhat similar to the game, then Leon could find Bagon in Meteor Falls.
"The only Pokemon that was hard to acquire was Beldum. This was a Pokemon you would receive after defeating the champ—at the end game."
To top it off, Beldum evolved early as a Pseudo-Legend. Not only did it have insane Telekinetic abilities, but it was also a super powerful genius Pokemon.
At least when it evolved into a Metagross.
"Beldum it is..." Leon was only worried about one thing, its move pool as a Beldum. This was its only major flaw during this stage.
This was similar to Abra, where you'd have to baby it until it became a powerful Kadabra. Leon went into a restroom stall and proceeded to pull out the Token.
Leon inspected the Token and found that it was a bronze token with Pikachu's face on it.
[Would you like to use (Pokemon Starter Token)? Y/N?]
'Yes, of course.' Leon clicked yes. Afterward, a glossary of Pokemon appeared on the virtual screen.
"I really like this style, it's so well done." The first Pokemon to appear was Abra in its 3d form. Leon touched the screen and scrolled down until he quickly arrived at the B section.

Basculin
➢Beldum
Bellsprout
Bermite
Bidoof

With a smile, Leon pressed Beldum, causing a new screen to appear. It questioned Leon's confidence in his choice of Beldum.
After obviously clicking yes, Leon saw the last panel.
-----
Choose Beldum's Nature, Pokeball, and Form.
-Input Nature ________
-Normal Form ☐
-Shiny Form ☐
-Choose Pokeball________
Note: You may not choose a Masterball.
-----
'Oh, that's what form meant, it meant Shiny or not!' Leon couldn't stop smiling. He was smiling so much that his jaw was starting to ache.
Leon imputed the Nature, Form, and after some thinking, the ball before being asked by the system if he was sure. Afterward, the token flashed with brilliant bronze-like light.
Suddenly, a ball appeared in front of Leon. The Pokeball sat on the floor unmoved, this was a Heavy Ball.
This was the Pokeball Leon had chosen for Beldum. Furthermore, this was because of its color and function.
The color of Pokeball suited Beldum and suited its weight when it turned into a Metagross.
It really is a heavyball, haha. Beldum should be in it—I finally have a real-life Pokemon." Leon grasped the Heavyball with a heavy expression.
"Come out!" Leon lightly tossed the Heavyball to the ground when a white silhouette shot out.
Beldum appeared and gave a cry.
"Oh, my gosh, it's really a Beldum!" Leon stared at the little Pokemon in surprise.
Beldum levitated there silently and stared at Leon curiously. Leon stared back at Beldum, he was still shocked about it.
"Hahahaha!" Leon came out of his stupor and burst into wild laughter. Afterward, Leon tried using that inspection skill on Beldum. This skill could be used naturally like talking or a sudden body motion.
"Let's see..."

"Indeed, it's a shiny. Would you look at those stunning shades of gold and silver? Though this is a unique discovery, what exactly is this aptitude thing?"
This C+ Aptitude seem fairly good, but Leon wasn't sure about the ranks. Leon saw Beldum's move set and sighed.
This was the hardest part about training Beldum, at least, in the early stage.
"Hey there, Beldum, I'll be your new trainer from now on. I hope we can get along as we progress and grow together." Leon grinned and tried to pick Beldum up, but he found that its body didn't even budge.
"What the..." Leon looked at Beldum strangely, how much did this thing weigh?
Beldum gave a cry, it didn't say its name like other Pokemon. Leon caressed his chin, admiring its glossy coloration.
"You're so unique and radiant, that makes you special in your own way." Leon's first thought was food for Beldum. He would need to provide for his Pokemon, himself, and of course, for his Family.
'As for food, Beldum is a carnivore. As modest and harmless as Beldum looked, this guy's method in killing its prey is quite vicious.'
'Hi, it's nice to meet you.' Suddenly, Leon heard a somewhat mechanical childish voice echoing in his head.
Leon looked down toward Beldum with widened eyes.
'You're able to speak to me telepathically?' Leon crouched down toward Beldum and inquired.
'Yes, only when you're close enough, can I do it.' Beldum could only telepathically communicate with Leon within a certain proximity.
'This is good, we can understand each other better this way.' This caused relief to wash over Leon. In this way, he wouldn't need to try and interpret Beldum's words.
It was indeed a good starter Pokemon in so many ways.
'I'm hungry, can I eat something?' Beldum was already looking to fill its stomach.
'What do you want to eat? I can get you some berries if you want.' They had some berries, particularly Sitrus berries.
'Berries? I want some.' Beldum said immediately.
'Okay, wait for now, I'll retrieve them in a bit.' With this, Leon recalled Beldum with a deep smile.
"Nice. So I can put Pokeballs with Pokemon into the Inventory." Leon sighed in relief because it stated that living entities couldn't be placed in an Inventory. He guessed that this rule didn't apply if they were in a Pokeball.
Leon quickly exited the restroom after taking a leak and washing his hands. He saw that his brother was sitting at the table stuffing his face.
"Leon, you're alright?" Lars stopped eating and gazed at Leon with surprise. He had heard from his sister, but Lars thought she was saying that to calm him down.
"Yeah, I recovered somehow, it must be a miracle. Furthermore, I feel stronger than ever have." Leon smiled but frowned when he saw Lars' face.
"What happened to your face? Did those twins do something to you at some point?" Lars had a swollen eye, something he didn't have yesterday.
"It's nothing, I'll survive." Lars waved his hand and dismissed the subject. Leona was already preparing to give him something cold to put over it.
"This can't go on, how long are you two planning to continue living like this? I'm heading to the mountain to capture my first Pokemon."
Leon went and said what he was planning to do, after all, he wanted to start his journey. At least, he wanted to start it right away, but he could only wait until a month later.
"You're going to be a Pokemon trainer and you plan to go to the mountain?" Lars was surprised, he hadn't had time to think about such luxurious things.
Even if he did, he would be digging his own grave going there.
Lars was also always working trying to make what money he could. Leon didn't want to do such jobs for such low pay. They were paying them ₱1 to ₱2 an hour, this was equivalent to cheap labor.
"Naturally, we still have a bright future ahead of us because we are young. If I stayed here and threw all of that away, I'd be a damn fool. These are what I have, and they will help us catch Pokemon. If you're willing to become a trainer as well, I'll give you a few."
"Leon, language..." Leona's eyes widened as she looked at Leon in shock.
Right then, Leon took out five Pokeballs and sat them on the table. Leona and Lars couldn't believe their eyes, they were actual Pokeballs!
The Pokemart on this Island sold them for a whopping price of ₱16 each. This was daylight robbery, but the kids who wanted to catch their first Pokemon had to pay.
Even though their parents were scared of Pokemon, they knew how beneficial it was to be a trainer. They wanted their kids to become trainers, but the pricing on Pokeballs cost way too much.
"L-Leon, did you buy these or did you..." Leona's expression changed, but it was clear that she thought he may have stolen them.
"No, they're not stolen. Don't you know that you can make Pokeballs with Acorns and Tumblestone?"
Leon wasn't sure if this was a thing in this world, so he was speaking only for the moment.
"Tumblestone? I heard someone mention this type of stone a while ago. At least a year ago, but I didn't mind it much."
Leona seemed to recall someone talking about Tumblestones when she was grocery shopping. Leon's eyes brightened when he heard this, so such a concept exists here.
Lars barely heard what was being said because his eyes were glued to Pokeballs.
"Well, since you don't want to be a Pokemon trainer, I guess I'll keep all of these." Leon reached out to grab the Pokeball.
"Wait! I-I...." Lars' face turned red since he couldn't get his words out.
Leona came over and put an ice-wrapped paper towel on his face to break the tension.
"Ugh!" Lars groaned in pain before grabbing hold of the Ice pack.
"You're not going anywhere until you recover from your face injury," Leona said in a somewhat commanding tone.
"Wait until you fully recover, I'll be going out in a bit." Right then, Leon took all of the Pokeballs and secretly stored them. Afterward, he sat down and pulled out the [Pokemon Guide Manual].
The cover of the manual showed all three of the Hoenn region's starters. In the corner, it said the word Exclusive Release.
"Huh? Where did you get that booklet from?" Leona squinted and asked suspiciously.
"I found it in the trash and took it out because I thought it looked interesting." Leon lied and said with a smile.
Leona just looked him in the eyes, it couldn't be any more obvious that she didn't believe him.
Leon coughed and opened the manual. There, he saw the first Pokemon numbered in the Hoenn Pokedex.
He saw Treeko with it typing, common height, common weight, and a little biography about it. On the same page was Grovyle below and Sceptile in the same way.
This information wasn't new to Leon so he quickly browsed through the booklet. After going through every Pokemon, Leon arrived at another section.
The pages were connected together to form a map of the Hoenn region.
