Chapter 1: Transmigration!
Darkness filled Leon's vision moments after he had seen and heard a loud explosion. He had looked once before his vision was filled with an orange-red light.
Then there was darkness.
"No...am I dead? I had such a bright future, how could this happen?" Leon was shocked and angry.
Something had happened at the factory he was driving by. In the next moment, a catastrophic Meltdown occurred.
There was no telling how many people had died other than him in the explosion. Leon's car had been hit and blown off the road, it could be said that he died instantly.
"I had a wine delivery company that was picking up, but I died just like this?" Leon had even bought himself a new Audi R8, but with his death, it was all useless.
"Is this what death is like? There's nothing but a dark void." Leon gazed around, but he couldn't see anything.
"Leon, wake up, are you okay?" Suddenly, Leon heard a voice calling out to him. With that voice, a light could be seen.
Leon swam through the deadlights, hoping for a chance of survival and revival. The voice kept calling him but the light appeared to be getting further away.
"What? Why is this..." Leon's eyes dilated. The light just kept slipping further and further into the distance.
Leon stopped, there was no way he could catch that light. Eventually, the light was no more, it had gone and exhausted. Leon had opted not to chase this light, there was no way to catch it.
"That was the light of salvation, my way back. That voice sounded like my brother, it had to be him."
Leon figured time might be different here because he had just appeared in this place. However, he could hear his brother's voice which meant his body was probably in the hospital.
"I blew it." Leon sighed, it was all over. Grief and fear could be seen on Leon's face, he had nothing.
"What!" Just as Leon was sinking into hopelessness, he saw another light. He didn't even need to think about it and swam as fast as he could toward it.
"Yes!" The light didn't move away and stayed in place. Leon was elated as he successfully passed through the tunnel of light.
"Have I made it back home?" Leon gazed around and found that he was in a dark room. He also saw that there was a lantern sitting next to him.
"I'm sleeping on a mattress on the floor?" Leon finally understood his situation, this was no hospital.
Right then, a rush of memories sparked in Leon's mind. This caused Leon a minor headache, but it only lasted for five seconds.
Leon was stunned when these memories flashed through.
"T-this...this is the Pokemon world?" Leon's eyes widened. Furthermore, he discovered that this was the body of a boy who shared his name rather than his own.
Judging from his memories, this boy had lost his parents and ran away from that abusive orphanage. Leon and his siblings escaped by hiding on a ship. The ship led them to this island where they decided to stay and live.
Leon, his sister, and his brother lived here for 4 years. He and his brother did odd jobs to make money.
However, Leon had gotten into a conflict with a shop owner's two sons. They had a family-owned Pokemart, but they sold their goods for more than double the price.
Leon had complained about the store's prices, calling them con artists. The two sons of the shop owner beat Leon unconscious, calling him poor lowly trash with no future.
They had attacked Leon and his brother many times before, but they couldn't do anything about it. Their influence on this island was too much for someone like them to overcome. His father ran the market and set the prices the way he wanted.
Leon's brother went to seek an account by reporting it. However, they said Leon attacked first and the Two sons could only protect themselves. The case was dismissed right away and his brother was sent away.
Leon turned and saw a figure lying next to him, but it was too dark to make out. He understood that this boy had succumbed to his injuries and died in his sleep.
"How unfortunate." Leon sighed when he understood the previous owner's predicament. He was also thankful for this opportunity at life, but his situation wasn't good.
"I'll avenge you, don't worry," Leon assured the previous owner. He was harboring deep resentment from the previous owner. It wouldn't go away until Leon got back at those who had wronged him.
"Those two have Pokemon already. So even if I can beat or kill them with my hands, they have animals with superpowers to back them."
Leon stretched over and grabbed the lantern next to him. He flashed it toward the person sleeping next to him.
'This is my new sister, it would appear that she was the one who bandaged me up.' From his memories, the previous owner came from a set of triplets. His sister was the youngest, while Leon himself was the middle child.
His sister was named Leona, and his brother was named Lars. They lived in an abandoned factory, sleeping on a mattress on the floor.
His sister had black hair and a youthful face, she was, after all a kid according to his world's standards. Just like this previous owner, she was fourteen years old and would turn fifteen years old in a month or so.
At the age of fourteen, you could own and carry a Pokemon. While at the age of fifteen, you could challenge the Pokemon League by getting an Alliance License.
'How can I obtain a Pokemon?' Pokeballs are necessary, but the Pokemart charges exorbitant prices for them. Plus that family is my enemy, so it would be a bad idea to go there.
Leon slowly sat up and thought to himself, that it was best to not talk out loud.
[Activating Exploration & Simulation System...!]
These words appeared on a purple virtual screen that abruptly materialized in front of Leon's face.
"Is this the legendary system?" Leon's mouth opened wide with surprise and joy.
[System will be completely downloaded in One Hour!]
"All those novels about systems, it turns out that there were truths to them. Perhaps the guy who came up with this concept had a system."
However, Leon saw that this was going to take a while so he wanted to inspect his environment.
"Let's see. Where am I in the world exactly? At least, region-wise." Leon quickly found his answer from his memories.
"Well, how about that? I'm in the Hoenn region of all places." Leon wasn't on the mainland but on an island forty miles away from the Battle Frontier.
From what Leon could gather, he was on one of those odd islands that couldn't be accessed in the game. The island was in the lower bottom corner of the Hoenn map, where other Islands were located.
"An uncharted island from Hoenn, hehe. That's both amusing and fascinating at the same time. If I get the chance, I'd like to visit a few islands."
Leon knew Pokemon well, he was a fan and had even researched Pokemon behavior patterns.
"Hmm, how is this possible?" Leon checked his body and found that he had been completely healed.
After giving it some thought, he got up and stretched. Leon went to the old factory's bathroom.
Much to his surprise, the water still worked here and so did the toilets. Leon inspected his face through the mirror. He was a fair-skinned youth with purple eyes and a fairly decent face.
Pitifully, Leon found that he was on the thinner side.
"I don't have any food. Usually, all we eat is bread, old bread, and whatever berries we can find around. Once a month we're able to eat some meat, but that might not happen."
"What was needed was meat, a great deal of protein to sustain him. To work out and stack muscle, I need a source of protein." Leon's first thought was to slay some Pokemon and eat them.
At least the edible ones.
"Our financial situation isn't good, I'll need to somehow fix that."
"That's right, my brother Lars should be doing some odd jobs right now." Leon thought about the odd jobs and the amount they were being paid.
"What a scam! We need to get off this island and make a real living—we can't stay here." Leon frowned. He felt like everyone on this island was crooked in some way.
"There are Pokemon on this island that can be caught, but they aren't super rare."
According to Leon's memory, there were three locations where he could hunt Pokemon.
-The Wetlands-
-Terra Mountain-
-Woodcast Forest-
"These are the three locations where I could get Pokemon." Leon was already imagining the Pokemon team he wanted to form.
There were Pokemon trainers on the island, but most people were too scared to venture into the beyond.
They were scared of Pokemon and hid in this small town, but they were still interested in making their children Pokemon trainers.
"I should probably wait until this system is completely downloaded. Afterward, I can figure out what steps I need to take next." Leon stroked his chin and said.
"Leon...are you in the restroom?" Leon heard a feminine and youthful voice call out to him right then.
