Pokemon: These Players are too annoying!

Chapter 70: 98-win streak

"From a screen, to a ring, to a pen, to a king. Where's my crown that's my bling always drama when I ring~"

"YOOO THIS SONG IS FIRE!"

"SHUT THE FUCK UP!"

The old man slapped his son hard across the face, almost twisting his neck.

"DAD?! WHY DID YOU SLAP ME WHEN I WAS LISTENING TO ISK?!"

"Turn off that music right now, or this slap will be your farewell along with your Vaporeon!"

"Okay..."

The son turned off the music in pain and looked over at his father, who was kissing a Octillery and a Rapidash.

"You love Pokémon just like I do, so why did you yell at me when I brought Vaporeon home?"

"What do you know?! The youth today are disgusting, and you're ruining our family tradition!"

"But dad—"

"SHUT UP AND GET OUT OF HERE!" Another slap hit the son's face, causing him to clutch his cheek in pain.

"Damn, that's crazy," a guy with dark green hair was watching the TV while training his Pokémon.

...Specifically, by whipping them if they made a mistake.

Turning off the TV, he cracked the whip on the ground and ordered.

"Sandshrew! I know you can do better than that! You have to!"

His name is A.J, short for Attorney Jones (I made this name up, it's not canon). He was just an ordinary trainer. The only thing unusual was his training methods.

"Wrong!" A.J whipped the wall, causing Rattata to tremble in fear.

What was even scarier was the special training gear he made his Pokémon wear, capable of turning Pikachu into a ball.

With such harsh training, it's no wonder his Pokémon were stronger than those of a typical trainer.

This was reflected in his record—98 victories!

"Just two more wins, and I'll officially challenge a Gym."

He hadn't challenged any Gyms yet because he was preparing and training as thoroughly as possible to ensure easy victories.

So he kept whipping the wall, training his Pokémon until a bell rang.

"Hmm? A new challenger?"

He went outside and saw a young man, who was looking at his phone before lifting his head to meet his gaze.

"Are you the trainer everyone's talking about? If so, fight me."

The young man wore a black shirt, long purple pants, and had brownish-orange hair.

It was Blue.

Looking at Blue's arrogant yet calm demeanor, A.J

immediately recognized this guy was strong.

"Alright, just in time. My Pokémon need a battle."

But he wasn't afraid. If he lost, it was because he wasn't good enough.

After all, the responsibility always lies with the trainer—there's no such thing as a weak Pokémon, only a trainer who isn't strong enough.

Pikachu used Iron Tail, striking directly at a trainer's Zubat.

"Zubat!" The young boy rushed to hold his unconscious Zubat, then sighed.

Pikachu then jumped right onto Red's face, making a few sounds as if to say, "Praise me!"

Red, used to Pikachu smothering his face to the point of suffocation, struggled to pull him off.

Meanwhile, Leaf was happily counting the money she had earned after facing several trainers, hugging her Ivysaur in excitement.

"You two are really strong!" Several other trainers gathered around to chat and compliment Red and Leaf.

"Aww, thanks!" Leaf tucked away the money she had "earned" (more like taken).

"I think you two might be able to beat A.J.," a boy said.

"A.J?"

"…?"

"You don't know A.J? He's pretty famous around here for his 98-win streak."

"98 wins?! That many?!" Misty, who had been silent, finally spoke up in surprise.

The other trainers began sharing their stories of defeat and how terrifying A.J's Pokémon were—especially those who had faced his signature Pokémon, Sandshrew.

"I can't believe a Pokémon that hasn't even evolved yet easily beat my Machoke," said a trainer dressed in martial arts gear.

"Yeah! Especially with that Earthquake move! I still can't believe Sandshrew knows that."

Listening to the trainers talk, Red just thought quietly, glancing at Pikachu, who was sitting on his head.

Pika? (Hmm?)

"…"

Pikapi? Pika! (You're wondering if I can beat him? Pfft, I'll win for sure!)

Maybe a little too confident.

After a while, the trainers said their goodbyes and left. Misty, Leaf, and Red turned to Brock, who was picking mushrooms.

"Are you done yet, Brock?"

"Almost!" Brock picked the last mushroom, checked his guidebook, and stored it in a box.

"Looks like you guys had a fun conversation," Brock smiled as he walked over.

"Yeah, we were talking about this trainer named A.J"

"So, do you guys want to go challenge him?"

"Definitely! A 98-win streak means he's strong!" Leaf said enthusiastically.

'And a lot of money too… hehehe,' she thought.

Red stared at Leaf blankly, clearly knowing what she was really thinking.

"Then what are we waiting for? Let's go!" Misty said, also curious.

The group followed the directions given by the other trainers. When they arrived, they saw that the battle arena was pretty damaged.

"Did someone just battle him?" Leaf noticed a bell and started ringing it repeatedly.

*DING DONG, DING DING DING DING!

"STOP THAT! IT'S SO LOUD!" A guy came out angrily, shouting, which startled them.

"Um… hi? Are you A.J?" Misty asked.

"And who are you?"

"I'm here to challenge you!" Leaf approached, wearing an innocent smile.

A.J sighed at that.

"No."

???

"Huh?! Why not?!" Leaf asked, her face shocked.

The money is right in front of me, why is it slipping away?!

"My Pokémon are recovering."

Recovering?

"…you lost?"

"Yeah, now please leave. You're disturbing my Pokémon's rest."

A.J shut the door immediately, leaving the group stunned.

The 98-win streak… had been broken by Blue!
