Chapter 7: Chapter 7: Pikachu vs. Squirtle
"Squirtle, use Water Gun!" Gary's voice rang out with determination as Squirtle inhaled deeply, gathering Water-Type energy in its body. A jet of water erupted from its mouth with precision and speed, aimed directly at Pikachu.
"Pikachu, dodge it!" Ash called out calmly, his voice steady despite the tension of his first battle.
"Pika!" Pikachu responded instantly, agilely leaping sideways to avoid the attack. The Water Gun zipped past him, striking the ground with a loud splash and scattering droplets into the air.
The townsfolk watching the battle from beyond the fence held their breath. For many of them, this was a chance to witness Pallet Town's newest trainers—Ash and Gary—prove their worth. The cheers of Gary's fan club echoed louder as the battle progressed.
"Squirtle, get closer! Use Tackle!" Gary shouted, his eyes narrowing as he assessed the situation.
Squirtle sprang into action, its short legs moving with surprising speed. Its body glowed faintly as Normal-Type energy surged, enhancing its movements. The small turtle Pokémon darted toward Pikachu with the intent to strike.
"Wait for it… now, dodge and counter with Thunder Shock!" Ash commanded, his instincts kicking in.
At the last possible second, Pikachu rolled out of harm's way. The Tackle attack missed by inches, and before Squirtle could recover, Pikachu retaliated.
"Pika-chu!" Electric energy crackled from Pikachu's red cheeks, arcing forward in a burst of golden light. The Thunder Shock struck Squirtle head-on, electricity coursing through its body.
"Squirtle!" Gary exclaimed, watching as his Pokémon cried out in pain. As a Water-Type, Squirtle was particularly vulnerable to Electric attacks, and the damage was significant.
When the sparks subsided, Squirtle panted heavily, but to everyone's surprise, it remained standing. A faint blue aura shimmered around its body—a sign that its Torrent ability had activated.
Gary clenched his fists, his expression growing more determined. Torrent, an ability unique to many Water-Type Pokémon, amplified the power of their Water-Type moves when their health was critically low. This was his chance to turn the tide.
"Squirtle, fall back and fire another Water Gun!" Gary called out.
"Jenny!" Squirtle responded immediately, leaping back to create distance. With the Torrent ability active, the Water Gun attack fired at an even greater speed and power than before.
The jet of water hurtled toward Pikachu, and for a moment, Ash hesitated. The enhanced speed of the attack caught him off guard.
But Pikachu's instincts as a seasoned wild Pokémon kicked in. Without waiting for Ash's command, it darted to the side, narrowly avoiding the water, which crashed into the ground and left a small crater behind.
Gary's jaw tightened as he saw Pikachu's reflexes. This Pikachu… it's not an ordinary starter Pokémon.
The crowd erupted in excitement, and even Ash felt a twinge of relief. "Thanks, Pikachu," he muttered under his breath, realizing he had almost let his guard down.
"Now's your chance! Pikachu, Thunder Shock again!" Ash called, seizing the opportunity.
Pikachu didn't hesitate. Electricity crackled once more as it unleashed another Thunder Shock. The bolt of energy streaked through the air and hit Squirtle squarely.
"Jenny—!" Squirtle cried out as the electric attack overwhelmed it. After a few agonizing moments, the small turtle collapsed to the ground, smoke rising faintly from its body.
The battle was over.

A Moment of Victory
"Squirtle is unable to battle. Pikachu wins!" a bystander declared, acting as an unofficial referee.
Gary stared at his fallen Pokémon in disbelief. This wasn't how he had imagined his first battle ending. He quickly ran over to Squirtle and knelt beside it, checking to ensure it was okay.
"You did well, Squirtle," Gary said softly, recalling the exhausted Pokémon into its Poké Ball. "This loss is on me, not you."
Meanwhile, Ash was beaming. "Pikachu, that was amazing!" he said, kneeling to meet his partner's eyes.
"Pika pika!" Pikachu puffed out its chest, clearly proud of its performance.
The spectators clapped and cheered, though some members of Gary's fan club looked less than thrilled. Despite the cheers, Gary stood up, his expression a mix of disappointment and resolve.

Lessons Learned
"You won this time, Ash," Gary said, his voice steady but laced with determination. "But don't think this is over. I'll train harder, and next time, you won't be so lucky."
Ash smiled, extending a hand. "I'll be ready for you, Gary. Let's both get stronger."
Gary hesitated for a moment before shaking Ash's hand. "You've improved," he admitted grudgingly. "I'll give you that."
With that, Gary turned and walked away, his fan club trailing behind him.
Professor Oak, who had been watching from a distance, nodded approvingly. "Ash has potential," he murmured to himself. "But he still has a lot to learn."

A New Beginning
As the crowd dispersed, Ash felt a surge of excitement. This battle had been his first step into the world of Pokémon training, and it had shown him just how much there was to learn.
"Pikachu, we're just getting started," he said, looking down at his partner.
"Pika!" Pikachu responded with enthusiasm.
Together, they turned toward the open road, ready for the challenges ahead.
Little did they know, their journey would take them to places far beyond their imagination—where the bonds between Trainers and Pokémon would be tested, and the line between friend and foe would blur.
For now, though, Ash was content. He had taken his first step toward becoming a Pokémon Master, and with Pikachu by his side, he was ready for anything.
