Chapter 88: Chapter 88 – An Ex-Team Flare Grunt
???'s POV
It's been a while since I landed here in Iona River District City, Metro Kamias with my small Pokémon team. Well, that was 7 months ago. My life after my release from prison due to my good behavior wasn't easy at first because of my background and deeds as a Team Flare grunt. But even though after I had left and cut ties with that disbanded organization, it wasn't easy because I was being prejudiced by other people. So, shortly after my release from prison, I dyed my red hair black and began to travel the world, exploring and trying to have a fresh start in life. My Pokémon team, consisting of a Luxio, and a Pidove, remained loyal to me after my release from prison and even during my time in prison. These two are my companions in my travels. And then, 7 months ago, we landed in Philas region in its Kamias International Airport and moved and settled down here in Iona River District City. Luckily and strangely, the people saw me as a completely different person. The logo of Team Flare on my belt has been removed by me, signifying my transition to a good, law-abiding person. And then, after settling down in this river district city, I luckily got a job as a cashier at a local bakery. The owner and his three employees are very nice to me, and I managed to adapt easily in this new work environment. But all this time, I still wore my Team Flare grunt attire despite cutting ties with that organization. Why? Because I liked it, personally, and it makes me nice and good. I wore that in my adventures and off-work hours outside of my apartment home. But even after all that, one question lingered in my mind: What if I could go on a Trainer's journey and be that Trainer's traveling companion for a while? Well, the answer to that question is still not yet here.
Third person POV
Later after having some Pokémon battles at Trainers' Center, Rico, Jonathan, and their Pokémon teams, alongside Juan, Campillo, and their Pokémon teams, are walking down the streets of Iona River District City's streets. The time was past 12 o'clock noon, and all of them are now hungry. So, they began to talk about going to the best places to grab a nice and sit-down meal before resuming their tour of the riverside, district-oriented city. Then, while his group are still discussing that topic, Rico noticed someone on a concrete bench eating a cheese and mayonnaise sandwich for lunch. That person was a former grunt of Team Flare, yet still wears its signature, but logo-free, grunt uniform. His name is Marshall Jamie, and he had two Pokémon, a Luxio and a Pidove as his Pokémon team. Upon recognizing the red uniform from Team Flare on the news, Rico was shocked to his core, remembering the evil deeds of that organization before its arrest and disbandment. Because of this, Rico became agitated, stopping on his position and shaking his body in sheer shock. His Riolu, Litleo, and Prinplup then looked at their Trainer with confusion.
But then, Rico's group noticed his shaking and agitated movement and stopped walking, asking what was wrong. Then, after an eternity of processing in his mind, Rico snapped out and pointed his finger at Marshall for a few seconds. "Team Flare grunt!"
Jonathan and the others were alerted and looked at Marshall, who was eating his simple lunch in peace.
"Wait, that guy is?" Jonathan asked.
"Wait, what…?!" Juan was shocked.
"It can't be!" Campillo added in shock.
Calming down, Rico replied, "Yes, I saw them on TV a long time ago."
"Oh…" Juan responded back in mild amazement.
Analyzing this, Jonathan suggested to them that all of them should go to him and asked him about his former identity to confirm Rico's assumption.
Eventually, Rico and the others agreed, and all of them went up to Marshall. There, Rico said to him, "Hi there, sir." Marshall heard him and looked at him and others. "Oh, hi there. What is it?"
"We're sorry if we were rude to you by asking this…" Rico asked back, "…are you a grunt of Team Flare?"
Marshall was surprised to hear that but eventually replied, "Yes, I was, used to be back then."
Rico knew that he was right. "Oh…so, you had changed, right?"
"Yes, I did," Marshall responded back calmly and solemnly, "so you don't worry about me going into trouble anymore."
Marshall's mind said, "Are those people going to judge me for my past?"
