Gallade had already explained everything to Evan.
To be honest, after hearing Gallade's account, Evan gave Lurantis and Lucario an incredulous look.
"So, Lurantis, to win, you concentrated all your physical strength into one move and just threw it out?"
"Why didn't I know you had this kind of talent?"
An instant Solar Blade used like a casual strike?
That's… something else.
Is this what happens when casting speed goes out the window?
For most Pokémon, Solar Blade requires charging energy in the first turn before it can be unleashed in the second.
But Lurantis? It just throws Solar Blade around as if it's a basic attack.
Not only that, it can channel all its strength into a single skill.
Outrageous.
Still, Evan couldn't help but feel a little impressed.
This could definitely be seen as Lurantis' unique talent.
"Lura~~!!"
The Pokémon chirped excitedly, almost as if to say, "It's all thanks to the good weather!"
Evan rolled his eyes.
"Yes, I know the weather's nice," he said dryly. "But for other Grass-type Pokémon to use a move like this, they'd need the help of Sunny Day or something similar to skip the charge time."
"But you? You just use it instantly, no problem."
"That's seriously impressive, though."
"Although..." He sighed, glancing at Violet's Pokémon lying defeated on the field. "I do feel a bit bad for them. They just showed up, and you didn't hold back at all."
What a tough loss for Violet. It was funny, but also a little pitiful.
Lucario, who usually carried itself like an elite warrior, had approached the fight seriously—and still got defeated by the deceptively cute and cheerful Lurantis.
Evan shook his head. Lucario was probably feeling quite bitter.
Why wouldn't Lurantis fight according to common sense?
Suppressing a laugh, Evan asked Gallade to escort the dejected Lucario for treatment. As for Lurantis, she didn't need medical care—just a little rest.
Watching her, Evan couldn't help but ask curiously, "Lurantis, can you also activate Solar Beam instantly on a sunny day?"
If she could, that would be incredible. She could become a veritable artillery unit.
And Solar Blade...
Evan's eyes suddenly lit up as he recalled a scene from the anime.
It reminded him of a certain dramatic, oversized weapon. Could Solar Blade be wielded like a giant sword?
A curry stick, so to speak?
This was getting exciting. He could already picture it.
"Lura?"
Lurantis tilted her head, confused by her trainer's increasingly enthusiastic expression.
Evan snapped out of his thoughts and grinned.
"Lurantis, work on improving your physical strength. That move of yours has real potential," he said. "If you can make Solar Blade part of a double slash technique, imagine how powerful that would be."
"Think about it—keeping the Solar Blade charged in your hands while attacking! Doesn't that sound amazing?"
Lurantis' eyes sparkled. She seemed just as thrilled by the idea.
"Lura?"
Like this?
Golden light flickered in her hands.
Evan froze in shock.
"You can do it already?"
He had been speaking hypothetically, but Lurantis was already putting the concept into action.
"Lura!!" she chirped confidently.
Of course she could. She was good at this!
No practice necessary.
Evan nodded approvingly. "Amazing. That's how you'll fight from now on."
"If you know you're about to use Double Chop, charge the Solar Blade first, then rush forward and slash."
"Got it? Start practicing. Catching opponents off guard like this will give us a real edge."
"And don't stop there—make the Solar Blade even bigger. The kind that's huge and intimidating."
He gestured with exaggerated enthusiasm. "You'll lift it high and bring it down in one massive strike. Wouldn't that be awesome?"
Lurantis chirped again, seeming to agree. She was clearly ready to refine her newfound technique.
Evan smiled to himself.
Treating ultimate moves like casual strikes—this was going to be fun.
Lurantis listened attentively, fully engaged in Evan's words.
One dared to suggest it, and the other dared to make it happen.
With that dynamic, Evan poured more ideas and advice into Lurantis.
By the time Gallade returned with a fully recovered Lucario, Evan finally stopped.
Lucario, however, avoided making eye contact with Lurantis, clearly embarrassed.
What a blunder.
This wasn't just a defeat—it felt like a social catastrophe.
Despite being visibly stronger, Lucario had lost to Lurantis, who seemed so unassuming.
Even though it had fought until its last sliver of energy, a loss was still a loss.
And no matter how you looked at it, it was humiliating.
Like a mighty warrior brought low by an adorably tiny opponent.
It was enough to leave Lucario completely deflated.
Evan noticed the pair returning and turned his attention to Lucario, leaving his conversation with Lurantis for another time.
"Lucario," Evan began, his tone more serious, "I've heard some things about you from your trainer."
"She didn't tell me everything, but from what I gather, you've got a lot of potential."
"So, here's the plan—you'll train hard while you're here with me."
"Don't let your trainer's expectations go unmet."
He paused briefly, then continued with a sly grin, "And if you've got nothing better to do, you can help Machamp out with moving energy cubes or something."
"That'll build your strength."
"Or you can spar with other Pokémon and help patrol. Great for honing your reflexes."
Evan spoke with conviction, disguising his ulterior motive: getting Lucario to take on some of the workload.
Lucario nodded earnestly.
"Looooo~!!" it replied.
I'm in.
After a moment of hesitation, Lucario added:
"Lokalo!"
I can also cook!
Evan froze, staring at Lucario with a bewildered expression.
"You can cook?" he asked, unsure if he'd heard correctly. "Are you serious?"
Lucario nodded confidently.
Now Evan was truly shocked.
This poor Pokémon—had Violet trained it to be a chef? The idea seemed too absurd to be real, but also entirely possible.
He gave Lucario a once-over and then brightened with an idea.
"That's a fantastic skill," he said. "If you're willing, I'd like you to teach Gallade how to cook."
Gallade, who had been quietly observing, suddenly looked alarmed.
What does this have to do with me?
Before it could protest, Evan added quickly, "You can't let your sister learn this, can you? It's better for you and your brother to handle cooking—it's a valuable skill."
"So, starting tomorrow, you'll begin learning how to cook."
Gallade's expression twisted into one of incredulity.
Is he serious?
Using telepathy, it asked, Are you really making us learn cooking?
Evan gave an emphatic nod. "Of course!"
Turning back to Lucario, he said, "Can you teach Gallade your cooking skills?"
Lucario nodded enthusiastically.
"Loooo~!!"
No problem!
'I've already trained an apprentice. Teaching Gallade will be easy.'
This time, it was Gallade's turn to be completely flustered.
Evan, however, looked even more surprised.
"You had an apprentice?"
The pieces were falling into place. Violet really had been using Lucario as a glorified nanny.
But, Evan thought, this was perfect. If Lucario could teach Gallade, then his Pokémon could take over cooking duties entirely.
The thought of having delicious meals prepared by his team brought a satisfied smile to his face.
