"Father, how are you feeling?"
Beside the bed, Mizutani Taki knelt with a look of deep concern.
Lying frail on the bed, Junichiro Mizutani resembled a dying ember, devoid of the commanding presence he once exuded.
Junichiro gazed at his son, and a wave of guilt washed over him. Over the years, he had demanded so much of Taki, pushing him relentlessly to prepare him for the burdens of leadership. He had hoped to step back one day, trusting Taki to guide the family, but a sudden illness had stolen that dream.
Could Taki truly handle the weight of the Mizutani family's legacy alone? He had trained him well, but uncertainty still gnawed at his heart.
"I know my condition, Taki. There's no use pretending otherwise," Junichiro said weakly, his voice hoarse.
"Take these Poké Balls. The Pokémon inside will obey your commands, but you must forge bonds with them. Build trust and understanding."
He gestured to a small leather-bound notebook on the bedside table. "This book contains the strategies I've refined over decades. Study it carefully. When you've raised a Pokémon of Champion caliber, pass these teachings down. That's how our Mizutani family will endure."
"Yes, Father. I will honor your teachings."
Tears welled in Taki's eyes as he accepted the Poké Balls and notebook.
"Don't cry, boy," Junichiro said, offering a faint smile. "I'm not gone yet. Go and ensure everything outside is stable. With these Pokémon, I trust the situation will be under control. I need to rest now."
"Yes, Father," Taki replied, bowing deeply before rising.
He turned, his face hardening as he glanced back at his father. The worry and sadness vanished, replaced by a glint of cold determination.
As Junichiro closed his eyes, Taki stepped closer, his hands trembling—not with fear, but anticipation. In one swift motion, he wrapped his hands around his father's neck.
The sudden act jolted Junichiro awake. His weakened body struggled futilely as realization dawned in his eyes—pain and confusion, but no hatred.
"I'm sorry, Father," Taki whispered. "You're not sick at all. I poisoned you. When you didn't die quickly enough, I had the doctor lie about your condition. Now that you've handed me everything, it's time for me to secure our family's future… without you."
Junichiro's struggles slowed as tears slipped from his eyes. His gaze softened, not with anger, but regret.
I pushed him too hard. I made him carry too much...
As his life slipped away, Junichiro's final look was one of bittersweet acceptance.
When it was over, Taki stepped back, his tears finally falling. They landed softly on Junichiro's lifeless face.
"Rest well, Father. I'll make the Mizutani family stronger than ever, and I'll do it in your honor."
Taki knelt, his expression sincere for the first time in years. But as he rose, ambition burned fiercely in his eyes.
Before Taki could revel in his newfound power, a stern voice shattered the silence.
"Junichiro Mizutani, you are under arrest!"
Taki spun around, startled. In the doorway stood Agatha, the Ghost-type Elite Four member of the Kanto region, flanked by a man cloaked in black and an Arcanine.
"What!?" Taki stammered. His mind raced. What leverage could Agatha have against the Mizutani family?
Realizing surrender wasn't an option, Taki grabbed a Poké Ball from his belt. "Electivire, use Thunder!"
The Electric Pokémon materialized and unleashed a powerful lightning attack.
Agatha remained unfazed. "Attacking an Elite Four member? You've sealed your fate."
With a simple command, several Gengar emerged from the shadows. The temperature dropped sharply, and the Electivire's Thunder dissipated before it could reach Agatha.
One Gengar lunged forward, its spectral claws piercing through Taki's chest before he could release another Pokémon.
Taki gasped, clutching his chest as he fell to his knees.
"You've sent assassins after trainers and meddled in matters far beyond your reach," Agatha said coldly. "Your actions have condemned your family. No one will seek justice for you."
Hearing this, Taki's eyes widened in horror. His lips moved as if to speak, but no words came. He collapsed, lifeless.
"Secure the area," Agatha ordered her Gengar. "Subdue all resistance, but keep the commotion to a minimum."
The Mizutani family fell swiftly. Agatha's precision and overwhelming power left no room for retaliation. By the time others learned of the family's downfall, it was too late. The Mizutani estate was a husk of its former self, its leaders gone and its resources seized.
Meanwhile, Tyson received the news and couldn't help but feel awe.
"This is true strength," Tyson murmured, reflecting on Agatha's actions.
"Come on, Charizard," he said, his eyes glinting with determination. "Let's see how strong the ruler of this forest really is!"
As they ventured deeper into the woods, Tyson gripped his Poké Ball tightly, eager to prove his mettle.
