pokemon Fighting Dreamers

Chapter 2: chapter 2

After what we'd call a successful escape from her home our heroine was hiding in the forest, she ran until she thought it was far enough and now she was preparing a campfire with Cinderace.

''So, any idea of where do you want to go?'' The fire rabbit asked to her trainer.

''I'm still thinking about it, for now let's just head to south, at least until we make it to Turffield.'' She said after placing a final log. ''All done, throw a Pyro Ball.''

The rabbit did as she was told and ignited up the campfire.

''Good, now we just need to assemble the tent, but first...do you want some marshmallows?'' Her face lighted up as she pulled a bag of them out of her backpack.

''Cinder.'' The pokemon nodded.

''What?''

''Cinderace?''

''Why are you...'' She touched her hair noticing something was missing. ''WH-WHERE IS MY HAIRBAND?''

''Cinder?''

The girl and her pokemon started searching with their view until Cinderace pointed to a tree near them, in that tree there was a Rufflet with the hairband in his claws.

''W-What? How did he even? Hey you! Give that back!'' The trainer yelled at the Pokemon both angry and worried, but the Rufflet flew away ignoring her.

''No, no , no, no, come on, Cinderace!'' She started running after the avian and her Pokemon followed her.

''Kick him an Electro Ball!''

Cinderace started charging electricity and was about to kick the ball.

''No wait, that could damage the hairband!''

Cinderace stopped the attack and ended up stumbling and falling face to the ground.

''Argh, what do I do? what do I do?'' The girl started walking in circles.

Cinderace got up and dusted off noticing they lost track of the Rufflet, she then saw her trainer who looked like she was about to have a mental breakdown, next thing the Pokemon did was walk to her trainer and give her a ''little'' slap on the cheek.

''Hey, what was that for?'' Said the trainer rubbing her red cheek.

''CINDERACE!'' The Pokemon yelled.

''I CAN'T UNDERSTAND YOU! WHAT I AM SUPPOSED TO DO IF I CAN'T UNDERSTAND YOU?!''

Cinderace once again slapped her trainer in the cheek.

''STOP DOING THAT!'' She looked at Cinderace in the eyes, the fire Pokemon was steadily looking at her, she eventually understand the message.

''Oh, I see, sorry...You're right, I need to calm down.'' She sat down and crossed her legs then she started to breath slowly.

''Now that I think about it this is weird, Rufflets don't tend to run away, they're always recklessly fighting other Pokemon.''

''Hey, that gives me an idea.'' She started searching on her bag. ''Let's use this.'' She said taking out a disc with the inscription: ''TR_74:Iron_head''.

''Cinderace?'' The Pokemon looked at her confused.

''Trust me, forget Gunk Shot and replace it with this.''

After a while searching they found the Rufflet again, it was resting on the branch of a tree and he has put the hairband around his neck somehow.

''Alright, kick some Electro Balls close to him, but don't shot him directly, let's try taunt him to make him attack us.''

Cinderace did as her trainer told her and started kicking electric balls but missing on purpose, the Rufflet tried to escape but the Electro Balls prevented him from doing that, so he angrily charged against them using Brave Bird.

''We got him! Use Iron Head to take the hit!''

Cinderace's eyes turned silver and her head was covered by a metallic shine, she then received the Brave Bird kicking up some dust due to the impact, when the dust cleared Cinderace was standing as if nothing had happened while the Rufflet was completely knocked out in the ground.

''Good work, Cinderace!'' She took the hairband from the Rufflet's neck and then placed it on her hair as usual.

''There, now say anything to me.'' She said to her pokemon who though about what to say for a second.

''Remember that time I said that you would look good in a dress?''

''Yes, and I already told you I HATE DRESSES!''

''Fine, Fine, geez.''

''At least this thing is fine, I don't know what would happen to me if I couldn't talk to you...I don't have anyone else after all.''

''Oh come on, It's not just me, Quilladin and Hitmontop are here for you too.''

''You know what I mean, this thing only works with you.''

''Yeah, but other trainers don't need that hairband, After spending enough time with their Pokemon they feel like they can understand them, maybe you should put that in practice, I know I'm your ''ace'', but I think you trust me a bit too much because we can talk directly, Quilladin and Hitmontop are part of the team too.''

''I guess you are right.''

''I still wonder though...your mother gave you the hairband before you met me, Did she know how it worked?''

''I don't know, she also died before I met you so it's not like I could have asked her anything about it.''

''Yeah, sorry.'' Said the pokemon noticing she bought up a heavy feeling.

''No, its fine.''

''Ruff.''

They looked down noticing that the Rufflet who caused them all that trouble had woken up and was looking up to them.

''Uh, sorry about the headache, buddy, but that thing you took was very important and I needed it back.''

The Pokemon then flew to the girl's shoulder placing a wing on his chest and doing what looked like a reverence.

''Rufflet!'' He said.

''He says that at first he didn't though we were worthy of battling, but now he admires our strength and wants to be part of our team to become stronger, he also wants a berry.'' Cinderace translated for her trainer.

''He said all that with a single 'Rufflet'?'' The girl looked unconvinced.

''Yup.'' Cinderace smiled.

''Sure...hang on a second'' She started searching on her bag. ''I don't have any berries, but how about a Nest Ball?'' She said holding it in front of the bird pokemon.

Rufflet pecked the button of the green Poke Ball opening it and getting caught without resisting.

''Seems like he liked it, Look at you, not a day since starting your adventure and already got a new Pokemon.''

''It's a good start, let's head back to the camp.''

Once they were close to the camp they noticed someone was squatting next to the campfire, it was one of the ninjas that works for her father, both hid behind a bush to not be seen by him.

''Who's that?''

''I'm not sure.'' She pulled out a Friend Ball released her Quilladin.

''Ok, Quilladin, see that guy over there?'' She pointed and the Pokemon looked. ''I need you to use Leech Seed to ambush him, but be careful.''

''Quil!'' The pokemon did a soldier salute and started rolling like a ball towards the person.

''Yes, I'm pretty sure she was here...'' The man said to himself and tried to get up but then felt something on his toe.

He looked down noticing a plant that was wrapping his whole leg and was kept growing.

''My, seems like I got myself in some trouble.'' He tried to escape but ended up wrapped to his shoulders and falling down, Quilladin then jumped on top of him, threatening him with his spikes.

''Please, don't make any sudden moves.'' She got out of the bush and started walking towards the man.

''Now, off with the mask.'' She said as she took it off. ''Oh, it just you, Genta.''

''What do you mean by 'It's just you Genta'? You're making it sound as if I wasn't a menace.'' He said offended.

''Genta, you are not a menace, Quilladin, let him go.'' The Pokemon did as he was told as and the plants were retreated.

''Of course I am, just look at this!'' He said striking a pose. ''See? MENACING!''

''Alright guys, we're leaving.'' She started walking away and her Pokemon followed her.

''Now you, you should behave yourself, Miss Shinka.'' The man followed her too.

''Don't you try lecture me Genta; and don't call me Miss, you know I don't like it.''

''Well, sorry, it's a matter of respect for your family, you should act more like you father, He's very- ARGH!'' His speech was interrupted after the girl kicked him in the leg making him fall in pain.

''That's it, I'm done, goodbye Genta.'' She kept walking.

''Was the kick necessary?'' Asked Cinderace.

''Perhaps, perhaps not.'' She raised her shoulders.

''W-Wait, Mr. Shinka t-told me to follow you.'' He said trying to get up.

''And why do you think he told you that?''

''Because he cares about you.''

''No, it's because he wants to control me!''

''What do you mean?''

''Genta, everyday is the same, I get up, I work out til I break my bones, then I go to sleep, I can't even get out of the Stadium!''

''That's just your training.''

''Just training?! For what?! Take over Galar?! It's never enough for him and I never wanted to be a Gym Leader to begin with!''

''Being a Gym Leader is a great honor, Miss, I if were a Gym Leader I would be very proud of my position.''

''No offense, but life has to be something more than staying in the same spot waiting for some random 10-year-old to beat me.''

''Oh, come on, don't put it like that, stop being so childish.''

''CHILDISH?! I'll show you childish!'' She was about to punch him but was stopped by her Pokemon.

''So, that's why you escaped?''

''I just...I just want to take my own paths, make my own decisions, I want to choose what I get to be, is it really that bad?'' She said calming down.

''No, no, it's not...'' The man looked conflicted, she has always cherished her, but he couldn't disobey orders, could he?.} ''But this won't make your father happy.''

''As if anything I do will ever make him happy.''

''...Fine, I'll tell your father I lost track of you by the north, that should give you time.''

''You will? Why?''

''What you said is right, people should get to choose what they get to be, I never really got a chance to do that, but if this is really what you want then go ahead, I won't stop you.''

''Thanks, Genta.''

''I'll leave you then, please be careful.'' Genta put his mask back on. ''You better make all this worth it.'' He said as he started jumping between trees and disappearing from their view.

''I will...''

After all that, the girl was preparing to sleep, she settled up the tent and entered with cinderace.

''That was a pretty rough first night.''

''Yeah, you were also pretty lucky that your father sent Genta, He's the most calm out of them all, anyone else would have probably tried to drag you back home.''

''I guess so, that makes me wonder what kind of people I'll meet during my travel, I mean, I don't have any friends, Maybe I could make some.''

''Just friends?''

''What do you mean?''

''Who knows? Maybe you could even find that special someone.'' Said the Pokemon with a smug smile.

''... Don't talk like a mom.'' She pulled up their sheet and closed her eyes.

''Hehe, sorry. Sleep well.''

''Good night, Cinderace.'' she took off her hairband and put it aside to sleep.

Meanwhile back in Kanto.

''Alright Pikachu, all done'' Said the boy closing his backpack, he has been preparing the whole night after he read the letter and was about to leave his house.

''Ash, are you sure you want to leave today? Why don't you stay a little longer?'' His mom asked since this two months had been the most time he had spend with him since he first started his journey.

''Sorry Mom, but I'm really excited, I'll get to enter a league with lots of important trainers, I'll sure see some familiar faces too.''

''Yep, That sounds just like my son'' She sighed yet smiled, she was a little sad, but of course she was happy for him.

Mother and son shared a hug before he left.

''Goodbye Ash, Pikachu take care of my boy.'' she said to his son as he started walking away.

''PIKA!'' The mouse waved his hand.

''You and Mimey take care too, Mom!'' Ash said from the distance as he waved goodbye too.

''You know, Pikachu? it's not just seeing old friends'' He looked up to the sky. ''I wonder what kind of people and pokemon we'll meet there too.''
