Pokémon: Day Bringer

Chapter 8: Meowth your in my team

Haru then went to the pokemon center, as he got his 3 pokemon heal, yes 3 he didn't notice but the net ball actually capture Meowth, as he took the ball to his room

Haru just looked at the net ball. "I thought this one was own by Team Rocket weird".

He sent out the Pokemon, as then coming our of the PokeBall was Meowth, Meowth looked around as he looked at Haru.

Meowth just looked at him, he yalled and then he. "What who are you, where is Jessie and James".

Haru then yaller a bit. "Ahh you can talk, I was not dreaming"

Haru stared wide-eyed at the talking Meowth in front of him, still processing what had just happened. "Okay, okay, calm down," Haru said, trying to steady his nerves. "You can talk. That's... unexpected. So, uh, you're part of Team Rocket, right?"

Meowth crossed his arms and glared at Haru. "Yeah, I was with Jessie and James! Where are they, huh? And why am I stuck in this thing?" He gestured toward the Net Ball with a claw, looking thoroughly annoyed.

Haru scratched the back of his head. "Honestly, I didn't even know I caught you. It was an accident, I swear."

Meowth blinked and tilted his head. "An accident? Ya mean ya weren't tryin' to catch me?"

Haru shook his head. "Nope. I was just defending myself when you and your... uh, team showed up and started reciting that weird motto. You got hit in the chaos, and, well... here we are."

Meowth sighed dramatically and plopped down on the floor, tail flicking irritably. "Great. Just great. First, we get blasted off again, and now I'm stuck with some trainer who doesn't even know what he's doin'. What a day."

Haru raised an eyebrow. "Hey, I may be new at this, but I'm not clueless. And if you're here now, maybe it's a sign you should start fresh, away from Team Rocket."

Meowth looked up at Haru, skeptical. "Start fresh? Away from Jessie and James? Are ya nuts? They're my family!"

Haru crouched down to meet Meowth's eye level. "Look, I'm not saying you have to abandon them. But think about it—how often do you guys actually succeed? Wouldn't it be nice to focus on something that doesn't involve stealing Pokémon?"

Meowth opened his mouth to retort but stopped, clearly conflicted. He muttered something under his breath, then sighed. "I guess ya got a point. But what's in it for me, huh?"

Haru smiled slightly. "How about freedom? You get to decide what you want to do, no orders from anyone. Plus, I'll take care of you, and you can still be your charming, sarcastic self."

Meowth narrowed his eyes. "Hmph. Charming, huh? Well, I am pretty irreplaceable... Alright, kid, I'll stick around—for now. But don't expect me to call you 'boss' or nothin'."

Haru chuckled. "Deal. Welcome to the team, Meowth."

Mudkip and Elekid, who had been watching, let out approving cries as if welcoming their new teammate. Meowth, still acting aloof, simply flicked his tail and yawned.

"Yeah, yeah, don't get too excited," Meowth grumbled. "I just hope ya know what you're doin', kid."

Haru smiled, feeling a strange sense of accomplishment. His team was growing, and even though it was an unexpected addition, he couldn't help but feel like things were starting to come together.

"Alright," Haru said, standing up. "Let's get some rest. Tomorrow's going to be another big day."

Haru stood in the training area, the morning sun filtering through the trees as he held up his Pokédex. Meowth stood beside him, arms crossed and looking as unimpressed as ever. Mudkip and Elekid were nearby, ready for another day of training.

"Alright, Meowth," Haru said, scrolling through the Pokédex. "Let's see what you've got."

The Pokédex beeped to life, displaying Meowth's stats and moves:

Meowth - Normal Type

Ability: Technician

Moveset:

Scratch

Fake Out

Bite

Fury Swipes

Haru nodded thoughtfully. "Not bad. Technician makes your weaker moves stronger, so there's some good potential here."

Meowth smirked, brushing a paw over his whiskers. "Of course I'm useful, kid. What, ya thought I was just here for my sparkling personality?"

Haru chuckled. "Well, your personality is... something. But these moves are solid. Fake Out can give us an advantage, and Bite adds some versatility. Let's see what you can do."

Meowth stretched lazily and flicked his tail. "Fine, fine. Let's get this show on the road. But don't go cryin' if I outshine your other Pokémon."

Haru motioned toward the tall grass. "Alright, then. Let's start with something simple. Mudkip, Elekid, watch and learn."

The grass rustled as a wild Sentret appeared, eyeing Meowth warily. Haru pointed at it. "Alright, Meowth! Start with Fake Out!"

Meowth dashed forward with surprising speed, clapping his paws together in front of Sentret's face. The wild Pokémon flinched, unable to move as Meowth followed up with a swift Bite.

Sentret recoiled, clearly rattled by the attack. Haru grinned. "Great job, Meowth! Finish it off with Fury Swipes!"

Meowth's claws glinted in the sunlight as he unleashed a rapid series of slashes, knocking Sentret out cold. The wild Pokémon scurried away, defeated.

Mudkip and Elekid cheered, clearly impressed. Meowth turned to Haru, smirking triumphantly. "Told ya I'm a natural. What'd ya expect?"

Haru smiled. "Alright, I admit it. You're pretty impressive. Let's keep this momentum going."

They continued training for the rest of the morning, battling various wild Pokémon and refining their teamwork. By the time they took a break, all three Pokémon had made noticeable progress. Haru sat under a tree, handing out berries to his team.

"Good work, everyone," Haru said, leaning back against the trunk. "If we keep this up, we'll be ready for the Gym in no time."

Meowth, chewing on a berry, glanced at Haru. "Gym battles, huh? Sounds like a lotta work. But I guess it beats chasing after Pikachu all day."

Haru laughed. "Don't worry. With all of us working together, we've got this."

Mudkip and Elekid let out enthusiastic cries, and even Meowth seemed to relax a bit, his usual sarcasm replaced with a hint of determination. As the sun climbed higher in the sky, Haru felt a renewed sense of purpose. His team was coming together, and for the first time, he truly believed they could handle whatever challenges lay ahead.

Haru then looked at Meowth. "Hey I have question, from what I learned from the internet, Team Rocket was destroyed in September 12th 1998, By Red so how are you guys doing your job".

Meowth looked at him and spoke. "Will yes Team Rocket is dispanded, but it got a new manger, he is an Executive and will his name is Archer".

Haru just looked at him. "Let me gess, your new team rocket mission is to find your old boss".

Meowth sighed, scratching his head with a paw. "You ain't wrong, kid. Team Rocket's been in shambles since Red wiped the floor with Giovanni back in '98. But Archer, he's a stubborn one. Claims Giovanni ain't gone for good and that it's our 'mission' to bring him back."

Haru raised an eyebrow. "Seriously? That sounds... desperate. You're telling me all of Team Rocket's efforts are just about finding one guy?"

Meowth nodded, his tail twitching. "Pretty much. Archer's got this big idea that if we find Giovanni, Team Rocket'll rise again, bigger and badder. Problem is, most of the grunts ain't exactly competent—heck, look at Jessie and James! They're more interested in stealing snacks than actually succeeding at anything."

Haru smirked. "And yet, here you are, captured by a random trainer."

Meowth crossed his arms, glaring. "Hey, that was a fluke! You got lucky, alright? I wasn't exactly at my peak performance. Besides, if I'm bein' honest, I ain't exactly thrilled with how things are goin' back at HQ."

Haru tilted his head, intrigued. "What do you mean?"

Meowth hesitated, looking away. "Well... Archer's obsessed. Everything's about Giovanni this, Giovanni that. Meanwhile, the rest of us are stuck running around like headless Dodrio, chasin' after rumors and wild goose chases. It ain't exactly glamorous."

Haru leaned back, thinking. "So, what's stopping you from leaving? I mean, you're not exactly tied to Team Rocket anymore."

Meowth rubbed the back of his neck. "Yeah, well, old habits die hard, y'know? And truth be told, Jessie and James ain't so bad. They're like family, in their own weird, dysfunctional way. I guess I just don't wanna leave 'em behind."

Haru smiled softly. "Sounds like you care about them more than you let on."

Meowth scoffed, waving a paw dismissively. "Don't get all mushy on me, kid. I'm just sayin' it's complicated."

Haru nodded. "Fair enough. But you've got a choice now. You're not stuck chasing Giovanni or anyone else. You can chart your own path."

Meowth looked at Haru for a long moment before shrugging. "We'll see, kid. We'll see."

Haru got up and looked at Meowth. "Ok so just like we talked, your not allows to talk to other people like a Human, people will be scared and will try to steal, I am supirse no tryed to capture you before".

Meowth laughed at that and looked at him. "Yeah, I know right but ok".

Haru then looked at and spoke. "Also I am teaching you to use Iron Tail, we need type coverages, sure you have Bite but still".

Meowth's ears perked up at the mention of Iron Tail, and he looked at Haru with a mix of skepticism and curiosity. "Iron Tail, huh? That's a pretty tough move. You really think I can learn that?"

Haru nodded with a confident smile. "If you're willing to put in the work, absolutely. It's all about control and focus. You've got the potential; you just need to channel it properly."

Meowth flicked his tail, then stood up and stretched, ready to get started. "Well, I'm not exactly one to back down from a challenge. Show me what you got, kid."

Haru grinned. "Alright, let's start with the basics. First, you need to get your tail to feel the energy. It's like any other move, but you have to focus on the metal in your tail, as if you're turning it into a solid piece of iron. You don't have to perfect it right away, just try to get a feel for it."

Meowth turned around and swished his tail a few times, focusing hard as Haru instructed. At first, nothing happened. Then, as he concentrated more, a faint metallic gleam flickered along the tip of his tail. It wasn't much, but it was a start.

"Hey, I felt something!" Meowth said, excited. "It's not much, but it's a start."

Haru smiled. "That's the first step. Keep practicing that sensation, and soon you'll be able to use it in battle."

Meowth nodded. "Alright, alright, I get it. Let's do this!"

The next few hours passed with Haru and Meowth working together, Haru patiently guiding him through the process of learning Iron Tail. The progress was slow at first, but Meowth was persistent, determined to master the move.

Meanwhile, Mudkip and Elekid practiced their own moves nearby, with Mudkip refining his Water Gun and Elekid working on improving his Thunder Shock. Haru glanced over at them, making sure they were doing well.

After a while, Meowth finally gave a determined swing with his tail. It wasn't perfect, but it definitely had a metallic quality to it.

"I think I've got it!" Meowth exclaimed, grinning. "It's not quite Iron Tail yet, but I can feel the power building up."

Haru gave him an approving nod. "That's the spirit. You're on the right track, Meowth. Keep practicing, and it'll become second nature."

Meowth beamed, his confidence growing. "Heh, I'm gonna show everyone what I can really do."

Haru chuckled. "We'll get there. You've got potential, Meowth. Just trust in yourself."

Meowth's eyes sparkled with determination as he kept working, knowing that with time and effort, he'd be able to master Iron Tail and become a valuable member of Haru's team.

"Thanks, kid," Meowth muttered quietly, more to himself than anyone else. "Maybe things aren't so bad after all."

The following days passed in a blur of training and traveling, with Haru continuing to bond with his Pokémon. Mudkip had become more confident in his abilities, and Elekid, though still a little wary, had started warming up to Haru, even managing to use a few Thunder Shocks with precision. Meowth, on the other hand, was improving steadily with his Iron Tail, although he still needed a lot of practice to make it truly powerful.

As they traveled through the forest towards the nearest town, Haru noticed Meowth practicing his tail technique more often, swishing it in the air and occasionally making small sparks. It wasn't exactly like Iron Tail, but the energy was building. Haru could tell that Meowth was beginning to feel the rhythm of the move.

One evening, as they set up camp by a clear stream, Haru noticed Meowth sitting off to the side, his tail twitching as he focused on something. Curious, Haru approached him.

"Hey, Meowth," Haru said, his voice calm. "What's going on?"

Meowth looked up, his golden eyes bright. "Just trying to refine it, you know? The more I practice, the more I feel like I'm getting closer to it. It's just—it's a lot to focus on."

Haru smiled. "You're doing great. Progress takes time, and you're already ahead of where I expected."

Meowth let out a huff. "Heh, well, I don't like to admit it, but I actually enjoy training with you. You're different from the others I've met. Most trainers expect me to be their little grunt, but you actually help me grow. I respect that."

Haru nodded. "That's because I don't see you as just another tool to use. You're a teammate. That's what a bond should be between a Pokémon and their trainer."

The words hung in the air for a moment, and Meowth seemed to consider them seriously. His usual cocky demeanor softened just a little, as if the weight of Haru's words was sinking in.

"Yeah, maybe I am starting to see that," Meowth said, a small grin forming on his face. "Alright, enough sappy talk. Time to work on this Iron Tail."

Haru chuckled. "That's the spirit. Let's make sure you can hit something this time."

Meowth stood up and positioned himself in front of a large rock. He took a deep breath, his tail swishing back and forth in preparation. Then, with a concentrated focus, he swung it forward, making a loud clang as the tail hit the stone. Haru's eyes widened slightly as the tail left a dent in the rock, but it wasn't as sharp or clean as it should have been.

"Not bad," Haru said, his voice filled with praise. "It's still not perfect, but it's a huge improvement from last time."

Meowth grinned proudly, wiping a bit of dirt from his fur. "Yeah, I felt that. I think I'm getting the hang of this."

Meanwhile, Mudkip and Elekid were practicing nearby, taking turns running through their moves. Elekid had improved in his Thunder Shock, and Mudkip had gotten more control over his Water Gun. The teamwork between them was coming together nicely, and Haru couldn't help but feel a surge of pride. His team was growing stronger every day.

Later that evening, as they gathered around the campfire, Haru looked at the three Pokémon by his side. Each one had come so far in such a short time, and Haru couldn't help but feel grateful for their trust in him.

"I'm proud of you all," Haru said quietly, his gaze shifting between Mudkip, Elekid, and Meowth. "You've come a long way. Keep pushing yourselves, and we'll be ready for whatever comes next."

Meowth, who had been lounging lazily by the fire, raised an eyebrow. "You really do have a way with words, don't you?"

Haru smiled. "I just speak the truth."

As the night wore on, Haru couldn't help but think about what lay ahead. The Gym challenge, the mysteries surrounding his new life, and the adventure that was unfolding in front of him. He didn't know exactly what the future held, but he felt ready to face it head-on, with Mudkip, Elekid, and Meowth by his side.

And that was all that mattered.
