Pokémon: Day Bringer

Chapter 79: Elite Four Part 4

Haru then looked at his Pokeball. "Will Koga, I will give this you finally took down one of my Pokémon, but it took 5 your to go down, to bad you don't have 20 more Pokémon".

As then Haru then sent out Cofagrigus, as Haru then spoke. "Use Trick Room and then uss Shadow Ball".

Haru's Cofagrigus emerged from its Pokéball in a burst of spectral energy, its golden sarcophagus-like form floating ominously. The crowd leaned forward in anticipation as Haru prepared to counter Koga's swift Salazzle.

"Trick Room, now!" Haru commanded.

Cofagrigus's eyes glowed with an eerie purple light as the battlefield shifted. The Trick Room inverted the natural order of speed, giving slower Pokémon the advantage.

Koga's eyes narrowed. "Clever. You're trying to neutralize Salazzle's speed. But that won't be enough. Salazzle, Flamethrower!"

Salazzle unleashed a stream of fiery flames toward Cofagrigus, the intense heat rushing across the battlefield.

"Cofagrigus, take it head-on and use Shadow Ball!" Haru called.

The flames licked at Cofagrigus, but the ghostly Pokémon tanked the hit, its sturdy form barely wavering. It retaliated by forming a sphere of dark, shadowy energy between its hands and launching it directly at Salazzle.

The Shadow Ball hit its mark, slamming into Salazzle with force. The lizard Pokémon hissed in pain, struggling to maintain its footing.

"That Trick Room really turned the tables," Misty said in the audience, impressed by Haru's strategy.

Koga, however, didn't lose his composure. "Salazzle, we're not done yet. Use Toxic!"

Salazzle released another wave of poisonous fumes, but Haru was ready. "Cofagrigus, use your ability to nullify its effect!"

Cofagrigus's Mummy ability activated, negating Salazzle's Corrosion and rendering its Toxic move ineffective. The crowd gasped as the poisonous strategy was completely shut down.

Koga frowned. "Well played, Haru. But this battle is far from over. Salazzle, Venoshock!"

Salazzle fired a powerful burst of toxic liquid at Cofagrigus. While it hit hard, the damage wasn't as significant as Koga had hoped due to the lack of poison on Cofagrigus.

Haru smirked. "Time to end this. Cofagrigus, Shadow Ball, one more time!"

Cofagrigus summoned another sphere of ghostly energy, hurling it at Salazzle with precision. The attack landed directly, and Salazzle let out a final cry before collapsing to the ground, unable to battle.

The referee raised his flag. "Salazzle is unable to battle! Cofagrigus wins! The victory goes to Ethan Haru Bit Harmonia!"

The crowd erupted into cheers as Haru stood victorious once again, his strategic use of Trick Room and Cofagrigus securing his win against Koga. In the VIP rooms, the Elite Four watched with mixed expressions.

Karen smirked. "He's got brains and brawn. This kid might just make it to me after all."

Bruno nodded. "If he can take down Koga like that, he's definitely a threat."

As Haru returned Cofagrigus to its Pokéball, he looked up at Koga with a confident grin. "Good battle, Koga. But I told you—I'm here to win."

Koga gave a small smile and nodded. "You're impressive, Haru. I'll admit, you've earned my respect. But don't let it get to your head. The path to the Champion is still long."

Haru turned to the cheering crowd, raising his hand in triumph. "One step closer," he muttered to himself. "Just wait, Champion—I'm coming for you."

The atmosphere in the Elite Four VIP room was tense, with all eyes on the screen replaying Haru's victory. Will leaned back in his chair, a thoughtful look on his face as he sipped his tea.

"Yeah, I see why he was called the Prodigy of Johto when he was ten," Will remarked, his tone carrying both admiration and regret. "Could have been a lot stronger if he didn't go M.I.A. Imagine what he could've achieved by now."

The room fell silent as his words hung in the air. Lance, who had been quietly observing the replay, turned his head away, his expression darkening. "May we not bring up what I did six years ago?" he said in a low voice, a trace of guilt evident.

Will raised an eyebrow and set his cup down. "Maybe you could've been a bit nicer in your words during the World's Champion match against Haru," he countered. His voice carried a rare edge, making the tension in the room palpable.

Karen smirked as she leaned back, crossing her legs. "Oh, come on, Lance. Don't tell me you're still brooding over that. What you said may have been harsh, but Haru clearly bounced back. Look at him now—he's making waves."

Bruno, who had been silently polishing a Pokéball, finally spoke up. "Haru's determination is undeniable. But Lance, you were his idol back then. Words from someone like you carry weight, especially to someone as young as he was. Maybe you should've chosen them more carefully."

Lance clenched his fists, his cape shifting slightly as he stood up abruptly. "I don't need a lecture from any of you," he snapped. "What I said six years ago was the truth. He lost because he was reckless and overconfident. I thought he needed to hear it. If it pushed him to grow stronger, then I have no regrets."

Karen's smirk widened. "Sure, sure. Keep telling yourself that. But from where I'm sitting, it looks like you regret it more than anyone here."

Will chuckled softly, breaking the tension. "Well, whatever the case, Haru's made it this far, hasn't he? And judging by his performance today, he might just go all the way."

Lance didn't respond, his eyes fixed on the screen as the replay showed Haru raising his hand in triumph. Deep down, he knew Karen's words weren't far from the truth.

Karen, noticing Lance's silence, leaned closer to the screen, her grin turning mischievous. "Either way, I'm looking forward to my turn against him. He's already got Clair, Whitney, and that Rose girl wrapped around his finger. Let's see if he can charm his way past me."

Bruno sighed, shaking his head. "You're more focused on his personal life than his battling skills, Karen. Focus on the match."

Karen laughed lightly. "Oh, I am, Bruno. But who says I can't have a little fun while I'm at it?"

As the room settled into a contemplative quiet, Lance remained standing, his gaze distant. Haru… show me just how much you've grown.

Later that night, as Haru was eating with Clair, Whitney, Rose, his 7 sister, Casey, Suicune Jessie, James, Ash, Brock, Misty, Diamond and Red, miss Delia had to live today.

"So here you are".

Haru felt the voice was a bit of fermilier as he looked up, and he almost choked on his food, as they was Karen, but it was not he was scared, but because who she looked like as he thought to him self. "Marie". He was shocked to see another one of his past life lover here, he thought Whitney and Rose were the only one.

Karen looked at him as she spoke. "What is wrong Prodigy, taken away from my beauty".

Haru just drinked his water as he looked at her. "Not really, but suprise you are, what you here to check me out".

Karen looked at him as she spoke. "Kinda, but tell do you believe in this word of mine, Strong Pokémon weak Pokémon that is only the selfish perception of people, truly skilled trainer should try to win with there favourite".

Haru looked at her as he spoke. "I mean look at my team, and Another proff is non other then Ash and his Pikachu he used".

Karen smirked, her sharp eyes locked onto Haru's as she leaned against the table, her arms crossed. "Hmm, so you're one of those trainers who believes in the bond between trainer and Pokémon, huh? I suppose that's respectable, considering how far it's gotten you. But I wonder... how far can you really push that belief when you're up against someone like me?"

Haru wiped his mouth and looked at her, his composure returning. "It's not just a belief, Karen. It's something I've proven time and time again. My team isn't just made up of the strongest Pokémon—they're my partners. And we've been through too much to let your 'test' intimidate me."

Whitney tilted her head, glancing between Haru and Karen. "Wait, wait, wait! What's with this weird tension? Do you two know each other or something?"

Haru flinched slightly, avoiding eye contact. "N-No, not really. We just met."

Karen raised an eyebrow, an amused smile playing on her lips. "Oh, we've definitely just met. But it feels like I've seen you before, Haru. Strange, isn't it?"

Suicune, in her human form, narrowed her eyes as she observed Karen closely. "Your energy... it's oddly familiar. Haru, are you certain there's no connection?"

Haru quickly shook his head, brushing it off. "It's nothing. Just deja vu, I guess."

Karen chuckled, clearly enjoying Haru's discomfort. "Deja vu, huh? Well, I'll leave it at that—for now. But you'd better be ready when it's my turn to face you. Let's see how strong your bonds really are, Prodigy."

She turned to leave but paused, glancing back over her shoulder. "Oh, and Haru, don't get too distracted by old memories. Focus on the present... and the battle ahead."

As Karen walked away, Haru let out a deep breath, realizing he'd been holding it in. Marie... no, it can't be. But that look in her eyes...

Clair frowned, leaning closer to Haru. "What was that about? You looked like you'd seen a ghost."

Haru waved her off, forcing a smile. "It's nothing. Just nerves, I guess."

Rose gave him a skeptical look but decided not to press further. "Well, whatever it is, you'd better stay sharp. Karen's not going to make it easy for you."

Ash, meanwhile, grinned as he took another bite of his food. "You've got this, Haru! Just like always. And hey, if you need advice about dealing with people who remind you of someone, I've got plenty of experience."

Brock nodded sagely. "Karen's strong, but she's got her own philosophy about Pokémon battles. It's different from most trainers, but you've faced worse. Just stick to what you believe in."

Haru glanced around at everyone, their support helping ease the weight on his mind. He nodded, a determined smile on his face. "Thanks, everyone. I'll be ready for her."

Still, deep down, he couldn't shake the lingering thoughts. Marie... is this some kind of test, or is the past coming back to haunt me?

Suicune got and grabbed Haru had. "Please don't mind us".

As she took outside in a quite place, as they were in a different place.

Haru looked at Suicune. "Do you need anything".

Suicune looked at him as she spoke. "Ethan, are you a reincarnated person who has his memory of his past life".

Haru eyes Wident seeing her, wondering how before he remembers he was talking to minor gods. "Will, um yes how did you know".

Suicune looked at as she sighed. "Figure's your soul flet old, not like I haven't meet people that have been reborn before, I can also see that Whitney and Rose and even the Karen girls as well, So what time period".

Haru looked at her as he spoke. "600 BA, ancient Unova, I was the brother of Truth who lead the army agent's my brother Cain, I am Able".

Suicune just sighed and looked at him. "Will, your older then, I mean your soul, I am more of newers god, seeing how the story of the 3 legendary Dog's goes".

Haru leaned back against the tree behind him, letting Suicune's words sink in. His expression was a mixture of surprise and realization as he spoke softly. "So, you figured it out. I didn't think anyone would. I've been trying to keep it low-key... but I guess you're more perceptive than I gave you credit for."

Suicune crossed her arms, her expression calm but curious. "It's not just perception, Ethan—or should I say, Able? I've been around long enough to feel the weight of an ancient soul when I meet one. You carry something different. It's not just strength; it's... resolve. Like someone who's been through battles far greater than any one lifetime."

Haru nodded, his gaze distant as he stared into the night sky. "You're right. In my past life, I was a general, a leader, a protector. I fought to defend what I believed in, what I loved. But... in the end, it wasn't enough. Cain... my brother... he was consumed by ideals, and our clash tore everything apart."

Suicune tilted her head slightly. "And now? Do you still carry the weight of those choices?"

Haru sighed deeply, rubbing the back of his neck. "Honestly? Yeah, I do. Every step I take, every battle I fight, I'm reminded of the people I couldn't save back then. But this time... this time, I want to do things differently. I want to protect the people I care about, not just as a trainer, but as someone who's learned from their past mistakes."

Suicune gave him a small smile, her normally stoic demeanor softening. "That's admirable, Ethan. But you know, you don't have to do it alone. The bonds you've formed in this life—Whitney, Rose, even Clair and Karen—they're all here for you. You're not the same person you were so many years ago. You're more than Able; you're Haru now."

Haru chuckled lightly. "You're right. It's just... hard to let go of that old identity sometimes. Seeing Karen tonight brought back so many memories. She reminds me of someone I lost back then... someone I couldn't protect."

Suicune placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder. "You can't change the past, but you can shape the future. And from what I've seen, you're doing a pretty good job of it so far. Just... don't lose yourself in the process, okay? You're stronger now, not just because of your Pokémon but because of the person you've become."

Haru nodded, a small smile forming on his lips. "Thanks, Suicune. I needed to hear that."

Suicune stepped back, her usual composed expression returning. "Good. Now, let's head back before the others start wondering why we disappeared. You've got a big battle coming up, and I expect you to give it your all."

Haru smirked, his confidence returning. "Don't worry. I'll give Karen a battle she'll never forget."

As they walked back to rejoin the group, Haru felt a renewed sense of purpose. The past might still haunt him, but he knew he wasn't alone anymore. With his friends and Pokémon by his side, he was ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead.

Suicune then looked at Haru. "So how did you get your memory back".

Haru looked at her as he spoke. "I got hit by lighting point blank in my head, yes the irony of me being the one choice my Zekrom Ans then getting hit by Lightning is not lost in me".

Suicune raised an eyebrow at Haru, her lips twitching as though she was suppressing a smile. "Lightning to the head? That's... certainly dramatic. Fitting for someone who was chosen by Zekrom, I suppose. The irony really is impossible to ignore."

Haru chuckled, rubbing the back of his neck. "Yeah, tell me about it. One moment, I'm in a normal battle, and the next, I'm literally struck by my own element. When I came to, everything from my past life just... came flooding back. It was overwhelming at first, but over time, I've learned to live with it. Even use it to my advantage."

Suicune tilted her head, her curiosity piqued. "Use it how?"

Haru smirked. "Well, my past life gave me a unique perspective on strategy and leadership. Turns out, leading armies and commanding Pokémon battles aren't that different. I've been able to think ahead, predict opponents' moves, and adapt in ways most trainers can't. It's helped me a lot—especially in battles like the one with Koga earlier."

Suicune nodded thoughtfully. "I see. That explains your composure and ability to stay two steps ahead. But it also explains something else—your drive. You're not just fighting for the sake of battling, are you?"

Haru's smirk faded slightly as his expression grew more serious. "No, I'm not. I've always believed that power should be used to protect, not to dominate. That's what I fought for back then, and it's what I'll keep fighting for now. I won't let history repeat itself—not with me, not with the people I care about, and not with the world."

Suicune's gaze softened as she regarded him. "You've truly carried the lessons of your past into this life. I admire that, Haru. But remember—your past doesn't define you. It's part of you, yes, but it doesn't have to dictate every step you take. You're not just the Prodigy of Johto or the reincarnation of Able. You're Ethan Haru Bit Harmonia, and you're forging your own path."

Haru nodded, her words resonating deeply with him. "Thanks, Suicune. I'll keep that in mind."

Suicune smiled faintly. "Good. Now, let's head back. You've got a long journey ahead of you, and I'm curious to see how far you'll go."

As they started walking back, Haru couldn't help but chuckle to himself. "You know, for a Legendary Pokémon, you're surprisingly good at giving pep talks."

Suicune smirked. "Well, someone has to keep you grounded. And besides, you're not the only one carrying the weight of responsibility, Haru. We all have our roles to play."
