Despite Treecko's burns, it wasn't seriously injured and recovered quickly, regaining its energetic spirit.

Back at the hotel, Kalia announced their next training plan, which involved more practical combat sessions by challenging Trainers.

This would be even more challenging than battling in the wilderness. Wild Pokemon lack Trainer guidance, whereas confronting other Trainers could introduce type advantages or disadvantages, making defeats quite common.

However, this is what true Trainers face; no one remains undefeated. By recognizing shortcomings through failure, one can continuously improve.

Over the following days, Lian and Kalia spent most of their time at the Pokemon Center's battle arena. With each match, showcasing their robust skills, they won significantly more battles than they lost. Even when facing beginner trainers, defeats were rare.

Six days later...

Lian couldn't keep track of how many Trainers he had challenged during this period, perhaps over twenty, excluding repeat encounters. Their routine consisted of morning challenges, followed by lunch and brief rest before resuming, with evening battles continuing until late night before returning to the hotel for sleep.

It felt like revisiting his days in the Kana Mountains, except now, the Pokemon from Trainers at the Pokemon Center were considerably stronger.

However, Lian has also grown stronger. With his current strength, engaging in battles against higher-level opponents is generally not an issue, provided they don't have Pokemon that significantly counter his team. Even evolved Pokemon pose little challenge.

Six days of continuous combat training rapidly elevated Lian's level to fourteen. Treecko remained at level fifteen but was expected to evolve soon.

Beyond leveling up, Lian accumulated a substantial amount of Combat Points. After battling with Treecko, he had already amassed over 800 points. Over these six days, Lian consistently aimed for flawless victories in each day's first battle. Although occasional mistakes occurred, on average, he earned more than four hundred Combat Points per day, resulting in a total accumulation of over three thousand points so far.

However, when Lian checked his Ability last night, the plus sign remained grayed out. Despite having over three thousand Combat Points, it still didn't unlock, leading him to suspect that the issue might not be related to Combat Points but rather because Treecko hasn't yet evolved.

Apart from leveling up, reaching level fourteen finally unlocked the long-awaited move Dragon Rage in the moveset list, which instantly became available.

As a Dragon-type move, Dragon Rage's strongest attribute is its ability to bypass the opponent's defense and deal fixed damage directly. However, Lian has yet to test this move.

Today would be the perfect opportunity to test Dragon Rage. If it indeed deals fixed damage, it would be incredibly powerful, as it bypasses defense entirely, making it highly effective at lower levels.

After breakfast, Lian accompanied Kalia back to the Pokemon Center, ready to challenge various Trainers.

Many people now recognized Kalia and even gave her the nickname "Battle Maniac" due to her relentless enthusiasm for combat, engaging in battles day and night without pause.

Despite her intensity, Kalia's dedication earned respect from numerous Trainers. With such frequent battles, most Pokemon would likely sustain injuries, but Kalia's Pokemon consistently achieved easy victories. Newbie trainers generally stood no chance against her.

As Kalia entered the battle arena at the Pokemon Center, surrounding Trainers knew she was about to issue another challenge. Currently, apart from beginner trainers, few newcomers were willing to face potential defeat.

Just as Kalia prepared to begin, a new Trainer approached her. It was Rosa, someone she had previously defeated. Despite his loss, he often sought advice from Kalia due to his decent battling skills.

"Kalia, be cautious these days; several Trainers in Falcon City have reported their Pokemon missing," Rosa cautioned with a serious expression.

Kalia nodded, as she had already heard about it. With the Extreme Speed Conference approaching, a group specializing in capturing rare Pokemon emerged unexpectedly, leading to multiple Trainer's Pokemon going missing.

During this time, Kalia took extra precautions. Apart from keeping Treecko inside its Poké Ball, she closely monitored Charmander, ensuring he never left her sight.

"I wonder when they'll catch that gang. Living under constant fear is unbearable," Rosa expressed his concern. Due to this situation, many Trainers had left Falcon City, but most participants of the Extreme Speed Conference remained.

Kalia also deeply despised those who profited by selling stolen Pokemon. Unfortunately, despite efforts, such individuals continued to persist and were hard to eliminate completely.

Upon hearing their conversation, Lian realized why Kalia had been so closely attached to him lately. It was akin to Team Rocket from the anime, making money through illicit Pokemon trading.

Suddenly, Lian spotted Julian approaching, looking visibly upset and disheartened.

"Kalia," Julian greeted her with a forced smile, which appeared more like a grimace.

Sensing that Julian was not in good spirits, Kalia realized something troubling must have occurred and asked, "What's wrong?"

Before Julian could respond, Rosa interjected, "Julian's Charmeleon has also gone missing."

With Pokemon disappearing at this time, it was highly likely they were captured by the illicit trading group. Although not impossible, the chances of finding them back were slim.

Currently, Falcon City had little recourse against these individuals, leaving Trainers with no choice but to remain vigilant and keep their Pokemon securely inside Poké Balls, always close at hand.

Hearing about Julian's lost Charmeleon, Kalia didn't know what to say. It was undoubtedly distressing, and she empathized with his feelings; if her own Pokemon went missing, she too would be extremely anxious and worried.

"I want to find my Charmeleon. Can you help me?" Julian pleaded, revealing the purpose of his visit. He hoped Kalia and Rosa would assist him in searching for his missing Pokemon.

Already, several Trainers whose Pokemon had disappeared were gathering together, preparing to search for their lost companions.

"Absolutely," Kalia agreed without hesitation. Although she had been cautious, one cannot remain perpetually vigilant against potential threats. By the time it happens to her, it would be too late.

The best course of action was to anticipate and act proactively, apprehending this Pokemon-trafficking group swiftly before they could cause further harm.

Hearing about Julian's missing Charmeleon, Lian recalled the chubby creature being captured, likely destined for sale, which ignited his anger.

"I've long wanted to catch these culprits," Rosa concurred without refusal, sharing Kalia's sentiment that prevention is key; they couldn't allow this gang to continue unchecked in Falcon City.

"Thank you all so much. Many Trainers have already organized themselves, and I firmly believe we'll find my Charmeleon." Julian expressed his sincere gratitude, touched by Kalia and Rosa's willingness to help despite not being close friends, merely acquaintances at best.

"Do we have any leads on this criminal group yet?" Kalia asked, emphasizing the need for a strategic plan rather than acting like headless flies.

"Yes, not all missing Pokemon incidents were due to lack of supervision. Some Trainers witnessed their Pokemon being abducted by individuals skilled in Hypnosis and Smokescreen techniques." Julian shared his findings, which he had gathered from questioning other Trainers.

"I suspect they're hiding underground; otherwise, Falcon City wouldn't have searched for so long without finding any trace of them," Kalia suddenly interjected.

Pokemon capable of using Smokescreen typically belong to either Fire or Poison types. However, Poison-type Pokemon rarely thrive in urban areas, as many Trainers avoid them due to the risk of accidental poisoning.

Fire-type Pokemon are already scarce, making it unlikely that these criminals would rely heavily on them for creating smokescreens. On the other hand, Poison-type Pokemon, though less active above ground, could operate effectively underground without issue.

While this was merely Kalia's speculation, the likelihood seemed high. The challenge lay in locating the entrance to their hideout; without knowing its location, access would be impossible unless employing Ground-type Pokemon to dig tunnels.

"It's very possible," Julian's eyes lit up, realizing that the underground indeed might have been overlooked.

Indeed, Falcon City had already started investigating underground, but without knowing the entrance to the hidden spaces, it was impossible to gain access. Given the vast size of Falcon City, locating a concealed underground entry point proved extremely challenging.
