Chapter 4: Chapter 4:Elikid!
Ace sat cross-legged in the tent, the glow of a small lantern illuminating the cozy interior. Smeargle and Mankey were happily munching on the food he'd prepared, their sounds of contentment making him smile.
"Looks like you guys are enjoying that," Ace remarked, leaning back slightly. He watched as Mankey gobbled down his spicy portion, his tail wagging furiously with satisfaction. Smeargle, on the other hand, took more delicate bites of his sweet meal, his eyes lighting up with each taste.
'I'm glad they like it,' Ace thought, recalling the lessons he'd learned from Professor Cerise. 'Good food keeps them happy and healthy. Plus, it builds trust. A strong team isn't just about battles; it's about the bond we share.'
Ace reached over to his bag and pulled out his Pokédex. Flicking it open, he navigated to the catalog of Pokémon commonly found in this area. He tapped his chin thoughtfully as he scanned through the list.
"Let's see... Rattata, Pidgey, Pikachu... Hmm, some solid options, but not exactly what I'm looking for." His eyes darted across the screen, scrolling through the entries until one particular Pokémon caught his attention.
"Elikid," he said aloud, the name rolling off his tongue with excitement. The Pokédex displayed the entry for the tiny Electric-type Pokémon, showing its energetic figure and evolutionary line.
'An Elikid, huh?' he thought, leaning closer to study the details. 'They're rare around here, but if I can find one, it'd be a fantastic addition to the team. Electivire is a beast, and it looks so cool too. Plus, having an Electric-type will give me a good advantage against Water and Flying types.'
He glanced at his two Pokémon, who had nearly finished their meals. Mankey was licking the bowl clean, while Smeargle was already lying on his back, satisfied and relaxed.
Ace chuckled. "You guys better get ready because we're going on a hunt tomorrow. We're finding ourselves an Elikid."
Smeargle's ears perked up at the sound of his trainer's voice, and he let out a small, cheerful bark. Mankey, on the other hand, puffed out his chest, looking as though he was ready for any challenge.
Ace smiled warmly at their reactions. "That's the spirit. We'll need to be sharp if we're going to find one. Elikid aren't just rare—they're tough to catch too."
He closed the Pokédex and leaned back against the tent wall, deciding to sleep as tomorrow was gonna be hectic.
The morning sun peeked through the forest trees as Ace packed away his tent. He brushed off his clothes and tidied up his small campsite, making sure everything was in order. His Pokémon, Smeargle and Mankey, were already awake and ready for the day ahead.
"Alright, guys, it's time to find us an Elikid," Ace said. Mankey stood up first, stretching its limbs before sniffing the air.
"Mankey, lead the way," Ace instructed.
Mankey's nose twitched as it took a deep sniff, its large nostrils flaring. "Mankey!" it grunted before scampering off toward the trees. Ace and Smeargle followed closely behind, keeping an eye on the surroundings. Mankey was relying on its acute sense of smell to track down the Electric-type Pokémon.
'Elikid generates electricity when eating berries and roasting them. The burnt smell should be pretty strong, so we'll know when we're close,' Ace thought, keeping his eyes sharp for any signs.
They wandered deeper into the forest, pushing through dense undergrowth and over rocks, the quiet chirping of wild Pokémon filling the air. The search dragged on for nearly two hours, with Ace starting to feel a bit frustrated.
'I'm starting to think this might take longer than I thought,' Ace mused, wiping the sweat off his brow. 'But I won't give up. We'll find it.'
Just as Ace was about to call it a day, Mankey let out a low growl from up ahead. It dropped from a tree, landing with a thud on the forest floor, and beckoned Ace to follow.
"Mankey, what did you find?" Ace asked, his voice tinged with excitement.
Mankey's nose twitched again, and it pointed towards some bushes. Ace and Smeargle moved in cautiously. Then, from the underbrush, an Elikid appeared, munching on a roasted Leppa Berry. Its electric horns crackled with power as it looked up, noticing the trio.
'There it is!' Ace thought with a grin. 'This is it, the Electric-type I've been searching for.'
Ace stepped forward confidently. "Hey, Elikid! I challenge you to a battle! If I win, you'll be joining my team!"
Elikid smirked mischievously, raising its arms as sparks flew from the plug-like tips of its head. Its body crackled with energy, eager for a fight.
"Let's do this," Ace said, stepping into battle stance. "Mankey, you're up!"
"Mankey!" Mankey shouted, excited to battle.
Ace gave his instructions clearly. "Mankey, dodge the Thunder Shock and use Leer!"
Elikid let out a quick burst of electricity, sending a stream of Thunder Shock toward Mankey. The Fighting-type Pokémon swiftly leaped to the side, evading the attack with ease. Mankey's eyes narrowed as a blue aura flickered around Elikid, lowering its defense.
'Nice, Mankey,' Ace thought, watching the move land. 'That should give us an edge.'
Elikid, now visibly irritated, launched a Shock Wave toward Mankey. The electric attack spread out in a circular pattern. Mankey wasn't quick enough to dodge and took the full brunt of the attack, his body shaking with the shock.
"Mankey!" Ace called out, concern creeping into his voice. "Get up, and use Night Slash!"
Mankey gritted his teeth, rising to his feet with a burst of determination. The air around his paw flickered with dark energy, and he rushed at Elikid with the glowing dark blade.
Elikid tried to dodge by using Quick Attack, but Ace wasn't about to let that happen.
"Focus Energy, now!" Ace ordered.
Mankey's body glowed with a white aura, his critical hit ratio significantly boosted. Elikid fired a Charge Beam in retaliation, but Mankey didn't flinch. With precision, Mankey slashed through the Charge Beam with Night Slash, cutting the attack in two. Ace found this scene quite amazing as he thought about some animes and wondered if he could implement them here.
"Now, hit it!" Ace shouted, his eyes gleaming with focus as he decided to think about that later.
Mankey rushed forward, striking Elikid directly with a critical hit. Elikid let out a screech of pain as it was knocked back, reeling from the powerful blow.
'This is it,' Ace thought, watching with anticipation. 'I've got Elikid on the ropes now.'
Elikid's arm glowed a deep reddish-brown as it prepared to counter with Dynamic Punch. Ace's eyes widened, knowing the move was powerful.
"Mankey, use Counter!" Ace shouted quickly.
Mankey's body glowed with a brownish aura as Elikid rushed forward, delivering a devastating punch. The force of the hit sent Mankey flying back, but the Fighting-type Pokémon unleashed a surge of energy, doubling the damage back onto Elikid.
Elikid collapsed to the ground, unconscious from the massive hit. Ace didn't hesitate for a moment, throwing a Pokéball. The ball flew through the air, striking Elikid and sucking it in with a red light.
As the ball wobbled, Ace held his breath. One... two... three... Ding!
"Yes!" Ace exclaimed, fist-pumping the air as the Pokéball clicked shut. He hurried over to Mankey, who had picked itself up with a grunt.
"Mankey, you did great!" Ace said, offering an Oran Berry to his Pokémon. Mankey took it gratefully, munching on the berry.
Smeargle, ever the supportive teammate, patted Mankey on the back, causing the Fighting-type Pokémon to blush slightly in embarrassment.
Ace picked up the Pokéball and scanned it with his Pokédex.
[Name: Elikid, The Electric Pokémon.
Description: It rotates its arms to generate electricity, but it tires easily, so it charges up only a little bit.
Type: Electric
Ability: Static
Gender: Male
Moves: Leer, Quick Attack, Charge Beam, Thunder Shock, Shock Wave, Dynamic Punch (egg move)]
Ace smiled widely. "This is awesome! Elikid's got some great moves. Static for its ability is perfect too. With that ability, it'll definitely be a powerhouse down the line."
He looked at Mankey, who was now eating the Oran Berry happily. "Thanks, buddy. You did awesome today."
Smeargle barked in agreement, and Ace chuckled. "Alright, let's head back to the camp. You've earned a rest."
With a contented grin, Ace carefully placed Elikid's Pokéball on his belt. This was one step closer to building his dream team.
