Pokémon: A Trainer Who Masters the Six Powers from the Start

Chapter 41: Chapter 41: The Champion-level Trainer

The aura of a Champion-level Pokémon, fused with the intimidating presence unique to Dragon-types, caused the group of high-level Pokémon at the center of the commotion to freeze in place, paralyzed with fear.

A fierce Charizard stood at the ready, its piercing gaze fixed on a spot behind the opposing Pokémon. Beside it stood a bald, burly man with a chiseled physique and exposed, muscular arms.

"Come out. You know as well as I do that your minions are no match for us," the bald man, Marlon, said firmly.

As his words echoed, the ground began to tremble faintly. From the forest's shadows, a massive Rhydon emerged, standing face-to-face with Marlon.

The moment Rhydon appeared, Charizard shifted its gaze to meet it head-on. The two Champion-level Pokémon immediately began a standoff, their auras clashing fiercely.

Even standing off to the side, the nearby rangers felt an overwhelming pressure, as though their very thoughts had slowed. One could only imagine how suffocating the tension was for the Pokémon caught in the epicenter of this battle.

"I didn't come here to fight you," Marlon said calmly. "Although it was humans who provoked you earlier, you must understand—I'm not like them. Whatever grievance you have, you can tell me. I'll do my best to help you."

When both Charizard and Rhydon finally retracted their auras, Marlon seized the moment to speak.

From the fresh wounds on Rhydon's rugged body, Marlon, an experienced trainer, quickly deduced that it had likely been targeted by Pokémon poachers.

The outcome of such an attack was self-evident. However, the assault had enraged this Champion-level Rhydon, sparking the current Pokémon riot.

Rhydon's intense gaze bore into Marlon. Despite its immense power, Rhydon was capable of understanding human speech. However, it couldn't simply let go of the fact that humans had attacked it without cause.

Had Rhydon believed it could overpower Charizard, it wouldn't have hesitated to attack Marlon outright.

"Roar!" Rhydon bellowed furiously at Charizard.

Marlon sighed in relief. The lack of an immediate attack signaled that Rhydon had calmed down somewhat. Now, all he needed to do was diffuse its anger completely to end the riot.

With Charizard acting as an interpreter, the two shared an unspoken bond forged in years of battles. Through Charizard, Marlon quickly understood Rhydon's demand: it wanted the human who had attacked it handed over for judgment.

"Apologies, but I don't know who attacked you, let alone where to find them," Marlon said, furrowing his brow. "However, if you give me some time, I promise I'll get you the justice you deserve."

Marlon's earlier sense of relief was quickly replaced by mounting frustration. Rhydon's request was reasonable, after all.

The Pokémon League's stance on poachers was unwavering: capture or kill. If delivering the culprit could quell the riot, it would serve justice and bring peace.

Unfortunately, Marlon had no leads on the poacher's whereabouts, leaving him unable to satisfy Rhydon's demand.

Although Rhydon was a Champion-level Pokémon, its thoughts remained relatively straightforward.

As the victim, Rhydon believed its demands were already a concession. Making a second request would suggest fear, which would tarnish its reputation among the Pokémon under its command.

Moreover, in the Pokémon world, strength was the ultimate measure of authority.

If Marlon wanted to end the riot, he'd have to prove his worth in battle.

With this in mind, Rhydon launched an attack, forcing the high-level Pokémon nearby to retreat to avoid being caught in the crossfire.

Rhydon's Stomping Tantrum shattered the ground around it in an instant.

Taking to the skies, Charizard evaded the attack and retaliated with Air Slash.

Negotiations had failed—there was no choice but to settle this with strength.

Rhydon countered with Earth Power, nullifying Charizard's attack. Sharp stones formed and shot toward Charizard in a barrage of Stone Edge.

"Charizard, use Dragon Claw and Shadow Claw—dual strike!"

Marlon's command rang out. Charizard's claws glowed with draconic energy and shadowy power, slashing through the incoming stones with precision.

Compared to wild Pokémon, even those at the Champion level, trained Pokémon boasted far greater versatility in their movesets.

Aside from its Stone Edge, Rhydon lacked significant options for airborne opponents.

Recognizing Rhydon's disadvantage, Marlon capitalized on Charizard's aerial mobility to launch a relentless assault.

Air Slash, Air Cutter, and Heat Wave followed in quick succession. Rhydon was soon on the defensive, struggling to keep up.

Despite the apparent upper hand, Marlon played cautiously, refusing to let Charizard overextend.

Champion-level Pokémon possessed tremendous endurance. Even if Rhydon appeared to falter, its battle prowess remained formidable.

Additionally, Marlon remained vigilant for the poachers. He doubted they would abandon their prize so easily.

As the battle wore on, the sun dipped below the horizon. The once-ferocious riot began to dwindle.

The wild Pokémon in the area had largely been subdued, and without access to healing, most chose to retreat after being defeated.

In contrast, the rangers and trainers gradually turned the tide, aided by their ability to heal their Pokémon.

Marlon's Charizard, having fought extensively, received well-earned rest as other trainers cycled into the fray.

Meanwhile, in the shadows beyond the battlefield, a group of figures quietly gathered, their intentions shrouded in secrecy.
