Phoenix Power: The True Colors of the Empress

Chapter 7. Give me your hand.

The soft sunlight filtered through the dense canopy of leaves in the Dark Moon Forest, painting the ground with patches of gentle light and shadow. Its warmth felt soothing rather than intense.

A peaceful mist wrapped around the entire forest, creating a serene haven undisturbed by the outside world.

The Dark Moon Forest was steeped in myths and legends, which draped it in an air of mystery that deterred most from venturing into its depths.

Sunbeams peeked through gaps in the leafy ceiling, casting a warm glow over the sky and forest floor below.

In a sunlit meadow, a pack of wolves had just roused from slumber, leisurely pacing across the grass. Nearby, a lake shimmered like crinkled silk in the gentle breeze.

In the sunlight, it appeared to be shimmering like a crystal.

Cang Ling Ye had slept for an entire night. The howls of the wolves outside woke him up, making him feel glad that he was still alive.

His head hurt a little, but he could vaguely remember being chased by extremely vicious assassins last night.

After ensuring Mo Fan and Nangong Yu’s safety, with their safety in mind, he faced all the killers alone. In his last moments, he only remembered that he had jumped off a cliff and lost consciousness.

Cang Ling Ye shook his head, finding himself inside a cave. The wound was still throbbing, proving that he was still alive.

Using his elbow for support, he sat up and noticed a young girl lying beside him. She looked remarkably different from the girls he had encountered before.

Recalling the events of last night, Cang Ling Ye remembered jumping off the cliff into the extremely dangerous Dark Moon Forest below. He had resigned himself to certain death, yet, against all odds, he somehow managed to survive.

After seeing the little girl in front of him, he knew that she must have saved him last night by bringing him to a safe place.

Otherwise, even his bones would have been eaten by the wolves outside.

However, Cang Ling Ye now had some doubts. How could this little girl live in these perilous woods and even save him? Could it be that the wolves outside would not harm her?

Cang Ling Ye leaned over and carefully looked at the little girl sleeping beside him.

Despite her ragged fur robe, which made her look prehistoric, she had a clean face and did not appear dirty.

At this moment, the little girl suddenly woke up, her eyes staring straight at Cang Ling Ye who was looking at her. Her eyes were filled with vigilance, but there was no trace of fear.

“Did you save me?”

Cang Ling Ye asked gently, his smile warm and his eyes kind as he looked at the wolf girl who had just woken up.

“Wu … Wu …”

The little girl didn’t answer Cang Ling Ye, but she didn’t show any signs of nervousness or uneasiness. Her face showed a hint of distress as she called out twice, as though she were responding to Cang Ling Ye.

The wolf girl had never been taught how to speak, so all she could do was make noises like a wolf.

“Don’t you know how to speak?” Cang Ling Ye looked at the girl curiously, his eyes full of shock and astonishment.

“Wu, wu …” It was the same sound, and the wolf girl used the same method to answer Cang Ling Ye’s question.

The wolf girl wanted to communicate with Cang Ling Ye, but she didn’t know how to express herself like he did.

Seeing her struggle, Cang Ling Ye understood the situation. He felt a mix of concern and a deeper, unexplainable connection with her.

He sensed that this girl had grown up here, likely since childhood, which allowed her to live peacefully with the wolves outside but also meant she could not speak.

Cang Ling Ye thought they were pitiful but, at the same time, fortunate to be alive and well. As long as they were alive, anything was possible!

“Thank you, thank you for saving me!”

Once Cang Ling Ye understood the situation, he let down his guard, showing sympathy and tenderness towards the wolf girl, smiling warmly at her.

After seeing that Cang Ling Ye had settled down, the wolf girl’s own emotions gradually calmed down as well. She was no longer as flustered as before.

Cang Ling Ye instantly felt a sense of empathy and even experienced a twinge of sadness, realizing that there was another person who had the same pitiful experience as him in this world.

He instinctively reached out to gently pull the wolf girl closer. He felt a sense of compassion for her. Perhaps if they leaned against each other, they could bring warmth and comfort to each other.

“Don’t worry, I won’t hurt you!” Cang Ling Ye’s eyes revealed a rare gentleness. It was like the sunlight shining on the grass outside, making one feel warm.

When the wolf girl saw Cang Ling Ye’s hand reaching over, she felt nervous and uneasy. She instinctively wanted to hide, as though she were avoiding his outstretched hand.

However, Cang Ling Ye didn’t seem to notice the girl’s actions. She didn’t reject Cang Ling Ye’s good intentions either, so their hands were gently held together.

Two people who lived in the cold, as long as they leaned against each other, would feel the warmth.

A faint smile tugged at the corner of Cang Ling Ye’s mouth, softening his features. His once austere countenance now seemed less forbidding, touched by warmth.

Similarly, the wolf girl’s face gradually warmed, her eyes softening from their earlier severity to a gentler expression.

They both felt a mutual attraction to each other, so they let down their guard.

Even without spoken words, they could communicate spiritually.
