Petunia Evans & A Witch

Chapter 4: Chapter Four - First Impressions

Dear Petunia, from what you've written to me, your best choice of house would be Ravenclaw since both Gryffindor and Slytherin have a senseless feud, and Slytherin is full of children who believe in their parents' ideals and even though you're a half-blood you wouldn't be treated well there.

Gryffindor is the most volatile house as we have strong personalities, and you can imagine what happens.

Hufflepuff is too cheeky, and you'd be forced to socialize - let's face it, yellow was never your color.

Ravenclaw, on the other hand, has a lot of introverted and studious students, and you can stay there all the time with a book in your face and no one will think it's strange, besides being the quietest house.

I wanted to go there, but it was Gryffindor or Slytherin for me, what time will you be at the station?

Petunia smiled reading the letter, the weeks passed quickly, Aster came from a wizard family, and he gave her all the advice she needed not to feel lost in the magical world, she knew who the teachers were, the legends witch stories, who the current minister of magic was, and things about the general culture.

He advised her not to try any spells without supervision since if something happened she would have no one to turn to, she read all the books from end to end, practiced her writing with a quill, she sewed wand pockets in her clothes.

On the first of September, they left early Lily was sad that she couldn't go to the station, I promised her that the next day she would receive a detailed letter.

The journey to the station was silent as they both didn't want to talk to each other, when they arrived at the station the two said goodbye, and she walked alone until she met Aster who was waiting for her.

He started walking, and she followed him it was strange to pass through a wall, but she was a witch, and she would see stranger things, the platform was deserted, and the two got on the train and chose a carriage, when they got on Aster locked it and cast a silencing spell, and she closed the windows.

The two of them hugged each other and began to cry the two of them spent a long time hugging (and would have kissed if Petunia hadn't been in an eleven-year-old body) both of them were very happy to have six hours alone together.

- How about I teach you a spell? - That question was like music to the ears of Petunia, who had been wanting to try a spell ever since she bought her wand.

He didn't even need to hear the answer, as her smile already gave it away.

- Let's start with Lumos, it's the first one taught and the easiest.

Having read the spell book three times, Petunia had a good idea of the basics.

Aster explained to her that the most important part was focus and concentration, and if she didn't believe in herself, the magic wouldn't happen.

The Lumos could be a simple ball of light, but with the right intention, the witch could make the light have any color she wanted, and it also helped that Aster was a good teacher.

Under his guidance, she learned the lumos spell and the scouring spell, which was very useful for cleaning things, but it was recommended that it not be used on hair.

She was upset at being separated from him and was seriously considering joining Gryffindor.

When she got off the train, she and the other first-years walked along the muddy path. When she got into the boat, she did the spell and felt enormous satisfaction when she saw the astonished eyes of her fellow passengers, the castle was clean it was full of light and it was a magical sight.

She could hear several voices of surprised or thrilled students and at that moment she realized something Aster had told her, magical children waited their whole lives to come to Hogwarts and the wizarding world was small, and even though they were only seven years, the school shaped their whole lives.

The other side of the lake was less dirty, but most of the students had muddy feet. For a moment she felt sorry for those who had to clean it up, but there was magic, one wave of a wand, and the floor would be clean, the ceiling of the hall was like the starry sky, it was beautiful in a medieval style of architecture.

All the first years were seated at a fifth table most of them were nervous since there was a tradition of not telling how the selection was made, so much anxiety for a hat thought Petunia who was looking for Aster who was sitting at the Gryffindor table she could stare at him all night, but it would be awkward she counted the number of students, and it was about sixteen so she expected the whole process to be long.

When the first name was called and everyone saw that it was a hat there was general relief, she wondered what kind of thing their family told them, she wouldn't tell Lily, but she wasn't going to make up some crazy story just to scare her into thinking they were going to have to fight a troll.

Most of the children didn't stay long, some stayed for no more than a minute. When her name was called, she got up and walked over without hesitation or nervousness.

- How interesting, two people reincarnated in less than a century, you know Miss Evans, you'd do very well in Slytherin.

- Although I'd be fine in uniform, I want to be a Ravenclaw, and from what I've heard, Slytherin cares a lot about blood and conceptions, and those are things I don't have, and I'm over fifty, so it's going to be hard to deal with children, so let me be with the quieter ones.

- Ravenclaw!

The hat shouted, and she went to the table that clapped politely, she sat down and followed the rest of the students being selected, it was a rich feast that had meat soups pies had a lot of meat, and she had to fish the few vegetables they had, she tried pumpkin juice and hated the thing, it was very heavy food to be eaten at night by children but although after eating all this food the children would sleep like stones.

After dinner, all the students were guided to the Ravenclaw dormitories, where they had to climb a getaway of stairs.

Petunia will not need to do any leg training.

- The door to our dormitory will only open if you answer the question correctly, so don't worry about getting stuck on the outside

- If you can't answer the question, just wait for someone to open it.

The head girl spent a long time talking and then led them into the room, it was beautiful with all the gray marble, the portraits, the shelves of books, and the many sofas and tables, it was a study room.

But what Petunia liked most was the bedroom, the bed was huge, and they had a bathroom with a toilet and shower and the mattress was very comfortable.

And on her first night in the castle, Petunia slept very well.

Petunia's family is lower middle class, on the verge of poverty, and they don't have the comfort and convenience that she was used to.
