Percy Jackson: The Cursed Hunter

Chapter 1: Pilot

Some quick things ig:

After having reached 15 chapters, I've realized that the action in this fic will be pretty backloaded. It's been mostly healing game + fluff genres for the chapters I've written. If you wanna read brainrot action (like I find myself wanting when I'm doomscrolling WN), please read another fic.

On another note:

I read the entirety of the two series back when I was in elementary school, and so I barely remember the personalities any of the 7 demigods from the second series except for Percy, Annabeth, and Leo, so the fanfic might be a bit scuffed when we reach the events of the second series.

I'm pretty confident in my knowledge on the first series tho due to the ungodly amount of PJ fanfic I've read.

I got inspiration from this story after having read my 100th PJ fic and realizing that I really really didn't like how they portrayed PJ himself. He was basically reduced to just doing things for no absolute reason whilst capturing the hearts of the FML by being such a good boy.

Idk, I just feel like Percy is a much deeper character than that.

On the other hand, I also don't like Percy that much because of his overbearing nature, hence why he won't exist in the fic.

Basically, I'll be replacing him with what I would say is a much more realistic child who seems to have actually grown up in a world wherein they could be killed any day by even their best friend.

I also have an intense dislike for Annabeth, just cause she was my least favorite character in all of the two series when I was merely an elementary schooler huffing, I mean, reading what felt like coke to me at the time.

That's all, enjoy the story!

More disclaimers after the story has released:

The MC is a MALE. He will get them back later, there will be romance after all. So don't get your knickers in a twist, alright? Everything will be explained within due time.

---

Time seemed to have slowed down as I watched the arrows as it neared my head.

Sure, I could have ducked away from it, yet I chose to remain still.

I was tired, too tired.

I was sick and tired of being sick and tired, and today would be my last day in this world.

Welcoming the cold glint of the steel as it entered my forehead, I welcomed the embrace of death.

In the end, the last thing I thought was,

'To die to an arrow... how ironic.'

~~~
The [Divine Archer],
That was what I had been called in my past life.
As the world blew up and World War III descended, I alone had made a name for myself amongst the billions of killers that graced the battlefield.
When people first saw me, they would scoff and immediately think,
'Look at this dude, bringing a bow to a gunfight, pft!'
Of course, before they could ever react, an arrow had already pierced their skull.
Yes, World War III ended in a complete U.S. victory not because of their tech, their gunpower, nor was it their nukes.
It was the other country's fear of the weight of the name of the [Divine Archer] that had allowed them to win this war.
No matter whether it was an underground base, an underwater base, or a base under the sky, the [Divine Archer] had been able successfully eliminate every single one of his targets.
The perfect assassin who held the world within one hand, a bow in the other.
That was who the [Divine Archer] was.
Unfortunately, after the war, there was no more use left for him.
And, burdened by visions of those that he had killed, he had set to killing himself.
An arrow that had perfectly ricocheted more than 100 times within the confined of an abandoned parking garage eventually found it's mark.
That, was the end of the life of the [Divine Archer].
'Huh, it really does feel weird, narrating the story of your life in third person.'
But, I couldn't help but feel disconnected from that person.
Maybe it was due to the fact that death had released, maybe it was due to the fact that I had no more ties to that world anyways, either way, I felt free, liberated almost.
That was, until a god appeared in front of me.
"So let me get this straight, due to the accumulation of an immense amount of negative karma, similar to the amounts of negative karma that the worst of the evil gods have, I will now be forced to reincarnate?"
I mean, I was familiar with the concept, I was still a man with cultured hobbies after all, mostly used to pass the time in between missions...
...definitely not to distract me from the voices COUGH cough...
"Isn't reincarnation supposed to be a reward?" I asked the god.
"Well, seeing as to how you wished for your own death, I'd say that living a second life would be worse for you."
Welp, he did have a point.
"Touche."
"..."
"So, have you decided on what you want your powers to be yet?"
If it wasn't obvious already, the god had offered me the three powers thingy that all reincarnated fanfic protagonists get, yet I was still stuck after having thought for what the god told me was 20 Earth years already.
"Fine fine, you sure the world will just be the canon Percy Jackson world?"
Irritably, the god replied,
"Yes, only after you've entered the world will the butterfly effect force events to change, haven't I already said this before?"
I merely shrugged to this. I mean, he had to cut me some slack no? I had been thinking about this for way too long now (even I wouldn't be afraid to admit that), and it was probably time for me to make a decision.
"Sigh... I guess I'll wish for the ability to use cursed energy, the fact that I will be the ONLY one to be able to used cursed energy, and for attacks of any kind from immortals to be ineffective against me."
Raising an eyebrow at me, the god said,
"You do know that that last wish is pushing it right?"
I only looked at him expectantly in response to this.
"It should be fine though, especially since your second wish was such a meager wish."
"Thank you!"
Knowing what was about to happen, I quickly bowed to the god and gave him a show of my appreciation.
"Yea yea, now begone from my sight."
A wave of his hand was the last thing I saw before darkness engulfed me.
~~~

"FUCKKKKKK YOOUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!"

Pointing a middle finger up to the sky, I couldn't help but gutturally shout with everything in my soul.

Yet, I received no reply, as a started gasping for breath after having burned through all the oxygen in my body.

Anyways, let me explain to y'all why I was in such a state.

Or well, why I was yelling at the god who had reincarnated me.

"grrrrrrrrr..."

Damn, he even got me growling like a wolf.

Cough cough...

I mean, what?

Anyways, basically, I had only just regained full control of my body a few seconds ago.

And by god did I want to kill something.

I had never killed anybody "for fun" before, but goddamn did I feel a certain urge right now.

'Am I sure I ain't one of Hades' children?'

Banishing the above thought from my head, I finally calmed down due to my joke and reigned my thoughts in.

Yet, they exploded out a second later as I looked down at my poor self.

"WHY AM I A FUCKING EUNICH NOW????"

Letting out one final, weak, pitiful shout, I collapsed onto the forrest floor, slowly losing consciousness, quietly sobbing to myself due to the loss of my precious family gems.

I mean, who wouldn't cry out in horror if they awoke only to find themself crudely castrated.

Sob...

Okay okay, lemme actually explain to y'all what had happened.

~~~
I had been a passive observer in my body for the past 13 years of my life.
The... well, I guess I would just call him "Boy" for now, had awoken to find himself drifting down a river, barely keeping himself afloat without drowning, cuts and bruises dotting my entire body
Oh yea, we were 6 at the time (I also first regained consciousness when the Boy was 6, yet I could only watch him do things).
Eventually, we had been picked up by a Hunter of Artemis, Phoebe to be exact.
Therein, the Hunters had mistaken us for a woman due to our unearthly beauty that surpassed even that of the gods (that handsome dude on the cover is me btw), and had inducted me into the hunters without so much as a second glance at my uhh... private bits to check if I was indeed what they had assumed I was.
And well, it didn't take a genius to figure out how I got to my current point.
Raising my hands up in a act of surrender, I gestured towards an unknown audience.
"Fine fine, I'll recount my story in detail up to this point."
"..."
'I really am schizophrenic, aren't I?'
