Paper Paper Fruit In One Piece

Chapter 313: Chapter 313: Seductive Trap and an Iron Will

"Alternating current?"

While steering the Sunny, enhanced by the Float-Float Ability, back to Dressrosa's coastline, Nami explained thoughtfully to Law.

"The trick lies in the attraction between opposite electric fields and the buildup of positive and negative charges."

"The first strike isn't particularly strong, but it delivers a massive accumulation of negative charge to the target. By using the principle of attraction between opposite charges, I follow up with a stronger strike powered by positive charges. The first hit is negative, the second positive, the third negative again…"

"This repeated oscillation of positive and negative strikes builds intensity, powered by the thunderclouds I've prepared in advance. It grows stronger and fiercer, relentless until the opponent is utterly destroyed."

"And so, it's called Infinite Thunder Abyss!"

What's more, this move has an extremely powerful side effect—if the first strike lands, it marks the opponent with a unipolar charge. All subsequent attacks home in on them through the attraction between charges, making escape impossible no matter how fast they are or how strong their Observation Haki might be!

In truth, the first strike was Usopp's contribution—a faint electric current hidden in an Impact Dial. When Doflamingo underestimated the initial Thunder Dragon attack and failed to dodge completely, his defeat was sealed.

Even those with advanced Observation Haki, capable of foreseeing the future, can't predict something that far ahead. This technique was specifically developed to counter top-tier Observation Haki users: mark the target with a charge, then strike them down later.

"Such a brilliant development of abilities,"

Law, a highly knowledgeable doctor, quickly grasped the concept and couldn't help but be impressed. He thought his mastery of the Ope-Ope Fruit was impressive, but compared to this:

"This wasn't my doing,"

Nami replied as she guided the Sunny to hover above the coastal waters. Unlike the original Float-Float, Rumble-Rumble, or Sand-Sand fruits, her use of these powers came at the cost of significant stamina.

Most of the energy expenditure was covered by the *Blood Bottle Pages*, but Nami still had to maintain immense focus and control. So, flying the Sunny across the New World on a whim was currently out of the question.

"It was Roman's idea for developing these abilities. I just brought it to life."

"…Even so, it's still incredible."

Nuclear weapon technology is known to many countries, but how many can actually build one?

As for Roman's inspiration for this advanced use of the *Rumble-Rumble Fruit*, it came partly from his knowledge of his past life and partly from observing the top-tier fighters who came to challenge the Red Line.

If Nami could develop her Armament Haki to cover her entire body and create Thunderfall Abyss, she would be at a Yonko-level of strength! However, her talent for Armament Haki…

Only seems to shine when dealing with the Straw Hat crew, producing shocking displays of Conqueror's Haki.

"Speaking of Roman, why isn't he helping? I'm completely out of energy now."

Wrapped in casts, Usopp grumbled. Meanwhile, Roman was…

---

"The winner of Block A is *Champion Burgess*, first captain of the Blackbeard Pirates!"

"The winner of Block B is *Cannibal Bartolomeo*, captain of the Barto Club!"

"The winner of Block C is a newcomer fighter, *Lucy*! Though small in stature, he overwhelmed his powerful opponents with absolute strength!"

"Since the intense battle between Lucy and Chinjao destroyed the arena, we'll need to change venues. Everyone, take this time to grab some food or visit the restroom to refresh your mind and body for the upcoming Block D matches…"

As the announcer's passionate commentary echoed, Roman, dressed as a magician, turned to Luffy, who was walking over.

"Seems like you had an easy win."

"Not at all, I'm exhausted!"

"Straw Hat, my grandfather wants to talk to you!"

Seeing Chinjao and Abu supporting the recently cone-headed Chinjao—thanks to his punch—Luffy was speechless.

"No way, you still won't give up? I already won!"

Boom!

"Thank you—"

As Chinjao bowed his cone-shaped head, it hit the ground so hard that it cracked for dozens of meters! Luffy instinctively turned and ran—not because he couldn't fight back, but because he always stayed away from meaningless fights like this.

"Wait,"

Splat! A thick stack of Berries was thrown his way, which Luffy caught mid-air. Behind him, Roman's exasperated voice rang out.

"Just take the money and buy yourself something to eat."

Honestly, Roman thought, there were much more convenient recovery methods, like the blood bottle paper, but Luffy refused to use them. He insisted on replenishing his energy through food. Well, fine. Eating meat was Luffy's greatest joy in life anyway.

"Hahaha, meat! Here I come!!"

Watching Luffy disappear with the stack of Berries, Roman rubbed his forehead, feeling like a "legendary arena sucker" had just been born.

Now, where should he kill time next?

"Excuse me, sir,"

A clear, crisp voice made Roman turn his head. In front of him stood a slender young woman. But—

That outfit… are you sure it's not… wait!

Oh, now it made sense. A gladiator's outfit like a swimsuit to distract the opponent's attention. Impressive, even he was momentarily thrown off.

"Are you a magician?"

Rebecca, the girl in front of him, couldn't possibly guess what was going through the mind of the "super expert" she admired. Tilting her head with curiosity, she asked earnestly.

"Can you do magic?"

"...Magic? I know a little."

Roman flipped his wrist and performed the classic trick of making an object appear out of nowhere. A flower materialized in his hand.

"A… sunflower?"

Rebecca stared at the "flower" in confusion. Wasn't it usually a rose in such moments?

"Oh, because my girlfriend likes them."

What?

Rebecca was speechless. How was she supposed to respond to that?

"Ahem, there's still some time before the match. Do you… want to come to the gladiators' quarters for a bit?"

What?

Now it was Roman's turn to be stunned. What kind of situation was this?

"Sure."

As Roman followed Rebecca, mocking laughter came from the other gladiators.

"Hah, the 'Undefeated Girl' is finally looking for a man?"

"After that match earlier, her legs are probably too weak to stand anymore!"

"That magician is one of Lucy's crew, right? I bet it's not just her legs that went soft… maybe everything else too…"

"Hehehe, what a shame, what a shame~~~"

The vulgar comments filled with innuendos made Rebecca stiffen. She bit her lip hard, her wide eyes refusing to let the tears fall.

"What's wrong?"

Hearing Roman's question, the hoarse-voiced girl simply shook her head.

"Nothing."

The two walked in silence until they reached a row of dimly lit iron bars. Rebecca, now composed, wiped a bench near the bars clean and invited Roman to sit. Then she removed her helmet, revealing her pink braided hair and delicate face.

"This is the gladiators' quarters, though most people call it a 'prison.' Outsiders aren't allowed in here."

Whoosh!

Suddenly, several bandaged arms shot out from the bars, grabbing Roman's neck, arms, waist, and legs. In an instant, he was pinned firmly to the bars by seven or eight burly men.

"Quick! Do it, Rebecca!!"

The pink-haired gladiator girl, panting heavily, clenched her teeth and swung her sword fiercely toward Roman's neck!

Clang!!

"Wait a second,"

The sword struck his neck with a loud metallic clang! Beneath Roman's mask came a calm yet puzzled voice.

"What's going on here?"

Think about it carefully. Isn't this the part where Luffy should fall for a food trap and get ambushed by Rebecca? So why am I the one falling for a beauty trap instead? It doesn't make sense… whatever. Being stuck like this isn't ideal either.

"Rebecca, don't hesitate! Strike hard!"

Whoosh!

At that moment, Roman's body suddenly turned into fluttering white paper and scattered. The sound of people falling to the ground came from behind him.

At the same time:

"Trouble, it's a Devil Fruit user…"

"Run, Rebecca!!"

"You're behind me—"

*Swish!*

As the warning came from the other side of the fence, Rebecca had already spun around. Her longsword swept out in a flash of silver! But—

*Clink.*

In the next moment, the lightning-fast blade came to an abrupt stop, caught between two fingers. Rebecca's arm trembled, and the weapon slipped from her grip.

"With sword skills that soft, you can't kill me."

Staring at Roman, who held her weapon effortlessly between his index and middle fingers, Rebecca clenched her fists, then let them fall to her sides.

"If you want to kill me or punish me, just do it. This is the price I deserve to pay!"

Even her best sword skills couldn't touch him—what else could she fight with?

"Rebecca, run!!"

"As long as the staff are here, he can't kill you—"

"We're the ones who came up with this idea! We wanted to help you take down a strong enemy! If you've got the guts, come after us instead!!"

"Well, this doesn't really matter to me either way."

Roman waved dismissively.

"What I'm more curious about is why you chose me as your target."

His strange attitude stunned Rebecca, and even the people behind the fence, who had been loudly shouting, went quiet.

"Look at that guy, Lucy—he easily defeated Chinjao, a pirate with a 500-million bounty. If you were going to use a beauty trap… no, a food trap, wouldn't he have been a better target?"

Roman saw himself as just a low-profile bystander. Why would Rebecca pull this stunt on him? It made no sense!

After a brief pause, Rebecca finally spoke honestly.

"It's because you're his companion and have been taking care of him all this time. I figured you must be stronger and more dangerous than he is!"

"No, no, no. If it's a tournament fight, I'm definitely not as strong as Luffy… I mean, Lucy."

If Luffy went into Gear Fourth in such a confined arena, Roman doubted he could hold out for ten minutes. Maybe he could kite him… wait, no, this conversation was getting off track.

"Alright, I understand the situation now. That's that—"

As Roman handed the hilt of the sword back to Rebecca, still holding the blade between two fingers, she looked completely confused.

"You're not going to kill me? I just tried to kill you!"

"First, you were aiming to knock me out with the flat of the blade."

After Rebecca took the sword, Roman turned to leave. *What a waste of time! I thought there'd at least be something interesting to pass the time.*

"Second, you don't have the strength to kill me."

"You're not going to strike back?"

Roman stopped and looked back, puzzled, at Rebecca. She was holding her sword, pointing it hesitantly at his back, but couldn't bring herself to stab him. Roman briefly wondered how to train her to be more decisive… no, no, no, wrong thought again!

The time as a Straw Hat crew trainer and the two years spent as a Marine instructor had left him with occupational habits that were hard to shake.

"No matter what it takes, I will win today's tournament, claim the Flame-Flame Fruit, and defeat Doflamingo…"

Rebecca's trembling voice carried a mix of conviction and self-doubt as she pointed her sword at Roman, her pink hair swaying slightly. Even under his mask, Roman couldn't help rolling his eyes.

"First, the Flame-Flame Fruit belongs to *us*."

"Second, instead of hoping to defeat Doflamingo—"

Roman walked away, his words echoing through the dormitory, which felt more like a prison.

"You might as well look forward to seeing him get utterly crushed."
