Chapter 7: Sirius Discussions
It was a quiet morning to say at the least. Harry went about his usual routine of having breakfast with his family and then going up to his room to research his magic wards. Harry was eager to get his research done fast as tomorrow he would be leaving for Hogwarts. While he came downstairs to sneak some apple pies that Petunia that cooked for tonight's dinner. There was a knock at the front door. Harry went to answer it and there stood Sirius Black. The man was dressed in a black suit, but looked incredibly pale and frail. His face looked more tired than Remus's, but his eyes had a grieving more sad and confused look to them.
When Sirius saw who opened the door, he almost couldn't believe his eyes. It was James, a child James, his best friend. Then he looked at his eyes, emerald like Lily's. Harry, it was his godson. He could hardly hold back his tears. He wanted to bawl his eyes out, but he reminded himself that he has come to meet Harry and talk to him.
"Harry, I am Siri...."
Sirius could hardly finish his words when Harry ran and hugged him. "Welcome back Sirius" Harry smiled. (How did Harry know? Well Harry can now instinctively feel magic around him, which helps him identify everything. That's how he came to know that it was Sirius).
"I am back Harry", Sirius smiled as a tear escaped his eyes. Harry welcomed him inside. Sirius came in. By this time Petunia had come downstairs hearing the voices at the front door. She looked at Sirius and then smiled.
"Lord Black", she bowed courteously. "To what do we owe this pleasure?"
"None of that Petunia, I am here to meet my godson"
"Godson? Harry is your godson? I had no idea, Lord Black"
"Oh please Petunia, since when have you started calling me Lord Black. Call me Sirius like old times"
Petunia chuckled, "Sorry Sirius but I was just getting back at you for some of the pranks you pulled at me back in the days."
Hearing voices this time it was Abigail who climbed down from her room. She looked at the pale man in the suit, not knowing what to do, she instantly went to Harry and tugged at his arm. Harry smiled at this, as his sister chose him and not Petunia when she was afraid. He could feel his protective nature, he wanted to protect his fluffball of a sister forever. Sirius noticed the little girl and turned to Petunia with a questioning look.
Petunia smiled, "Abigail, come and meet Sirius. He is Harry's godfather"
Abigail peeked at Sirius from behind Harry. Sirius smiled and kneeled down to her height.
"Hello Abigail, My name is Sirius. Nice to meet you"
"H-Hello, Uncle Sirius. I am Abigail and mummy says I am a good girl."
"Are you now? That's good then? Wait, I had something for you", Sirius magically popped up a bag of Bertie Bott's Every flavor beans and a box of chocolate frogs. Abigail's face instantly lit up as she took the candies. She hugged Sirius to thank him, which shocked him even more. Petunia smiled, berating Sirius that he shouldn't have done that, to which Sirius waved his hand in a dismissal way.
Sirius then turned to Harry who was looking at him.
"You know when you opened that door, I thought it was James. Then I saw your eyes. You have your mother's eyes Harry"
Harry smiled.
"Which reminds me Sirius, you have to stay for dinner. Tomorrow Harry is going to Hogwarts, and we were planning on having a feast to celebrate. You have to come to drop him off too"
"Well I can't stay Petunia because I have to go to Gringotts to sort out some matters. But I'll be back for dinner I suppose. I only wanted to see Harry today"
"Just be back for dinner Sirius"
Harry thought of something and he turned to Petunia.
"Can I go with Sirius too mum? I have to buy some books from Diagon Alley. I already finished all my books"
Petunia looked at Sirius, who was at loss for words as Harry wanted to spend time with him. She smiled at this and nodded to Harry.
"Just be back for dinner young man"
Harry looked at Sirius, "You don't have any problem with that do you? I mean if you don't want I can stay back"
"Blimey, Harry. By no means, I have a problem. Let's get going now" Sirius said with a smile. Sirius turned towards the floo.
"Are we going by the floo Sirius?"
"Yes, I am not supposed to Apparate alongside you since you are a child Harry"
"You don't have to Sirius. I know how to Apparate" Harry smirked. Sirius was flabbergasted. Harry was just 10. How did he know how to apparate. He looked at Petunia, who smirked at his shock.
"Your godson is a magical prodigy, Sirius. He can already do Auror-level magic, that too wandless. And he can apparate and disapparate without a sound too. Much more than a prodigy if you think about it. More like a prodigy of prodigy"
Sirius looked at Harry shocked at the news. Harry smirked to see Sirius's face. It was funny to see Sirius like that.
"Well if that's the case then I guess I'll have to see it for myself Harry"
"Sure Sirius, where are we apparating to?"
"I think Gringotts entrance should be good. I have to sort out somethings before we can buy your books"
Harry nodded and disapparated to Gringotts entrance. Sirius was astonished when he saw Harry disapparate without a sound. Petunia chuckled at Sirius's face as she remembered how, she had a similar face to him when she saw Harry apparate into the kitchen.
"Go on. Harry would be waiting on you Sirius"
Sirius just nodded and disapparated to Gringotts. Harry was waiting in front of the white building. Harry smiled at his godfather.
"Bloody hell, Harry! How did you get started with all this?"
"I just get magic, Sirius. I read about it and instinctively get it." Harry smirked.
Both of them made their way into the building. They walked past the row of goblins to the Goblin head, who greeted Sirius and took them to a separate room. The meeting was to decide the inheritance of the Black family. Harry thought he was rich until he heard about the Blacks vaults. It was Harry's turn to be flabbergasted. He couldn't understand the full talk, as he was busy trying to feel and guess the charms and wards at Gringotts, but he did catch the word, "133 million galleons". Harry tried not to think about it, as he was currently doing his best to figure out the wards at the bank. As he let his magic spread, he did feel certain magical creatures down, deep down in the bank and then suddenly his magic sense was cut off.
"We do not appreciate poking around Mr. Potter", the goblin head looked at him sternly.
"I'm sorry I was just curious about the wards you have hear. They are very interesting. Also the waterfall has some kind of magic negating effect"
The goblin looked at him in a curious manner. He had felt Harry's magic sense, which he allowed at first thinking it was involuntary, then when he felt that Harry's magic sense reach almost the deepest vaults he had cut it off.
"As much as we should always satisfy our curiosity, sometimes it's better to exercise control Mr. Potter"
"I'll keep that in mind, sir"
Harry didn't do anything for the rest of the meeting. He just theorized about the charm and wards in Gringotts inside his head. By the end, Sirius made a withdrawal of 15000 galleons and was about to leave when Harry stopped him.
"Sirius, I have to make a withdrawal to buy those books as well"
"And what made you think I'll let you pay for those books, Harry? You are my godson, I haven't met you for 10 years. You are not paying for anything from now on, I'll be buying you everything you need", Sirius said.
"Let me spoil my godson a little"
Harry blushed at that. Sirius smiled and they both made their way outside to get Harry his books.
