Chapter 74 - Get down on Your Knees
Chapter 74 Get down on Your Knees
Huai Kebing intended to undermine Ning Tao’s confidence step by step in the way he was best at, gradually infiltrating fear and pain into Ning Tao’s bones before finally completely destroying him. It was just like the way a cat catching a mouse—the cat would bite the mouse to death after playing with it enough. However, it now appeared that Ning Tao, the mouse, didn’t think much of Huai Kebing, the cat, and he tortured his people in front of him!
If he continued to wait and remained unmoved, Dongsun Li would not be able to win back his lost face and prestige even if he stepped on Ning Tao.
Huai Kebing raised his right hand.
It was his signal to his people to act. As soon as he waved down his raised hand, his bodyguards and dozens of thugs would rush up to attack Ning Tao.
Before he could wave his hand down, Ning Tao suddenly looked up at him and threatened coldly, “If one of your guys comes and hits me or my friend, I’ll hit you.”
Huai Kebing’s hand froze in the air. There were still two unconscious people lying on the ground, and another was trampled by Ning Tao, whose hand was bloody. Judging by Ning Tao’s cold, horrible eyes staring at him, Huai Kebing believed that Ning Tao would do exactly what he said. He wanted to get his dignity and authority back, but what Ning Tao said made him lose face again!
“What a big talk!” Suddenly, a powerful, resounding voice came from the gate.
The thugs in the doorway parted to make way. An old man in Chinese Tang costume strode this way with a brisk gait.
The old man had gray hair and a braid. He was not tall, but he had a large waist and big arms, appearing muscular and strong, especially his hands with knuckles full of thick calluses. Anyway, He gave the impression of a martial artist who had been practicing martial arts all his life.
This old man was Dongsun Li, the guardian of the Huai family.
Huai Kebing’s hand slowly put down as a sneer played across the corner of his mouth. He knew what Dongsun Li was capable of, so he believed that Ning Tao would soon be beaten to the ground!
Ning Tao lifted his foot from the thug’s hand. The hand was mangled, with finger bones exposed in the air, no longer like a hand, as if it had been ground by a stone mill!
Ning Tao rubbed his blood-stained sole on the chest of one of the bodyguards who lay on the ground before he turned to look at Dongsun Li who was walking toward him.
Dongsun Li stopped three steps away from Ning Tao and looked him in the eye. His eyes were as sharp as an eagle’s eyes.
Ning Tao also looked Dongsun Li straight in the eye, his eyes devoid of emotion, and calm as two pools of stagnant water.
“Disable him,” Huai Kebing ordered.
Dongsun Li’s body, which had just come to a standstill, suddenly moved and went toward Ning Tao like a cannonball. Almost immediately, his right fist landed on Ning Tao’s chest.
Bam!
With a muffled sound, Ning Tao stepped back three times in a row and covered the area where he was hit.
Dongsun Li’s attack seemed to be simple, but it actually locked Ning Tao’s dodge route. No matter Ning Tao ducked left or right, he couldn’t get rid of Dongsun Li’s attack. The second he made his judgment, Dongsun Li hit him with his fist.
The greatest truths were the simplest. This was the ultimate truth of Taoism, and it also applied to martial arts. No matter what martial arts one practiced, his ultimate goal was to defeat the opponent! A genuine martial artist rarely fought with others, but when he took part in a battle, his performance would be awesome and they would combat an outrance!
“I thought a powerful man was running amuck here. I didn’t expect you to be so weak,” Dongsun Li stated nonchalantly. “Lie down. Your ribs are broken.”
Zhao Wushuang gave a cry of surprise and intended to rush to Ning Tao.
Fan Huaying pulled her over and held her hand tightly.
“That’s not enough,” cried Huai Kebing, his eyes flashing with malevolent hatred.
Dongsun Li nodded and said, “I’ll put him in a wheelchair for the rest of his life.”
Huai Kebing’s mouth curved into a cruel smile. That was what he wanted—to destroy Ning Tao’s confidence and his life little by little in front of everyone! He wanted everyone to know this was what happened to the man who challenged his authority!
But at that moment Ning Tao suddenly dropped his hand over his chest and said, “Who do you think you are? You said my ribs are broken, so my ribs are broken? A man like you said the same thing to me, but he is still avoiding me.”
His tone and words were not like from a man with broken ribs.
Dongsun Li startled slightly. Apparently, he didn’t expect Ning Tao to be strong enough to endure being beaten and dared to speak to him in such a contemptuous tone.
“Dongsun Li, what are you waiting for?” Huai Kebing roared.
“Hum!” Dongsun Li gave a cold snort, and his still body moved again. In a flash, he was in front of Ning Tao. The next second, his right leg kicked Ning Tao’s left leg!
His trousers were full of wind because of his rapid movement. His blow could have bent a street lamp by the side of the road!
Ning Tao, instead of dodging, kicked Dongsun Li’s left leg.
He did not learn kung fu or combat skills, but he was a practitioner with the protection of spiritual power. Moreover, his spiritual power was different from ordinary practitioners’ but was the special spiritual power of the healing power of the go-between of good and evil. His endurance to being hurt was far beyond ordinary people’s imagination. So, even if he didn’t learn kung fu or combat skills, he could learn from Dongsun Li on the spot and attack him back. He attacked Dongsun Li the same as the way Dongsun Li attacked him!
“You’re killing yourself!” Dongsun Li ignored Ning Tao’s counterattack and let out a furious yell. As he spoke, his right leg had kicked on Ning Tao’s left leg hard.
At that point, Ning Tao’s right leg also kicked him hard on his left leg.
Thump!
Crack!
The sound of broken bones resounded in the banquet hall.
Everyone heard it with horror with the hair stand on end.
Dongsun Li and Ning Tao staggered out of balance, and fell to the ground with one to the left, the other to the right.
Thump! Thump!
Dongsun Li and Ning Tao hit the ground at the same time.
Whose leg was broken?
None of the onlookers knew.
However, no one believed that Ning Tao could still stand up.
Huai Kebing waved his hand and a crowd of thugs rushed toward Ning Tao, who was on the ground. When Ning Tao stood, they felt so much pressure that no one dared to walk towards him, but now they were not afraid of him anymore because Ning Tao was lying on the ground, like a tiger with claws and teeth pulled out.
However, before they could get near, Ning Tao suddenly got up from the ground and walked over to Dongsun Li, who was still lying on the ground. Throughout the whole process, Ning Tao didn’t even look at those thugs, completely ignoring their presence! He looked as if a muscular professional fighter passing in front of a group of schoolchildren! The thugs’ feet felt like lead, and no one dared to move on.
“You just said you’d put me in a wheelchair for the rest of my life. I’ll give it back to you,” Ning Tao said nonchalantly.
“You…” Dongsun Li seemed to realize what Ning Tao wanted to do, and the idea instantly struck a little fear into his heart.
“Don’t you dare!” Huai Kebing raised his hand to Ning Tao. “Wounding with intent is against the law. How dare you do that in front of so many people?”
Ning Tao looked back at Huai Kebing and said, “You disfigured Wushuang, but how dare you stand here and talk to me about the law? It makes me sick to hear it from someone like you. I said heaven doesn’t punish you, but I will punish you!”
With that, Ning Tao sprang to his feet and stepped on Dongsun Li’s right leg.
Dongsun Li rolled to avoid it but lost his mobility because of a broken leg. Finally, he was less than a second slower than Ning Tao. He was just about to roll over when Ning Tao’s feet stepped on his right leg!
Crack!
The sound of broken bones once again stimulated the eardrum of everyone present, making them creepy!
“Ah—” Dongsun Li could barely contain himself from shouting when his left leg was broken, but this time Ning Tao did it even harder. When he landed on the most fragile kneecap, Dongsun Li cried out in pain.
Ning Tao lifted a foot and kicked Dongsun Li in the lower abdomen.
Thump!
Dongsun Li’s body curled up, like a bowling ball sliding off the slippery floor for a few meters, and finally stopped at Huai Kebing’s feet.
“Poof…” Dongsun Li opened his mouth as if to say something, but spat out a mouthful of blood. Then, darkness came over his eyes, and he passed out.
“Is this the best you’ve got?” Ning Tao asked. “I gave him back to you. Is there any better martial artist in your family? Get them all over here. I’ll make them all lie on the ground like dogs! I said heaven doesn’t punish you, but I will punish you!”
His tone of voice sounded like that the Young Master Huai was just a little bully who collected protection money from primary school students in his eyes, and that he could beat and scolded him at will. Ning Tao despised Huai Kebing to the point where he was nothing in his eyes as if he could do as he pleased in front of the gate of the famous Huai family on the rich list!
People like Huai Kebing were, of course, towering figures in the eyes of ordinary people. People didn’t dare provoke him but had to flatter and avoid them. However, as a go-between of good and evil and the owner of the Sky Clinic, Ning Tao’s practice was to enforce justice on behalf of Heaven. He didn’t care about who he was, his family’s wealth, or his connections. Once he met the wicked, he would do justice for Heaven. Even if the ledger of bamboo slips wrote him a “black account”, he did not care!
Huai Kebing wanted to kill Ning Tao right now. He had never been so insulted. If Ning Tao was the son of a larger family with higher status and more power than he was, he would accept the bad luck but Ning Tao was clearly a nobody, an obscure doctor. How dare he do this to him!
However, this was only the beginning.
Ning Tao walked toward Huai Kebing with an irresistible pressure. “Will you kneel down to Wushuang, or shall I get you down on your knees?”
Huai Kebing was really pissed off! He turned to Chen Tiansheng, who looked stunned, and shouted, “Bastard! Where’s the police you called!”
The guests in the hall all stared at each other. The Huai Kebing they knew actually asked the police for help! They could not help wondering if the world was still the one they knew.
