One piece: Without a system, I have to survive!

Chapter 5: Chapter 5: The Taste of Survival

The smell of roasting meat filled the air.

I sat near the small fire, watching the flames flicker and dance, their warmth a welcome comfort against the cool night air. The jungle around me had become eerily silent, as if the creatures lurking in the shadows were watching, waiting.

For the first time since waking up in this world, I felt a sense of control.

Survival wasn't just about enduring—it was about taking action. And right now, I was making progress.

The meat sizzled over the fire, its juices dripping onto the burning wood, sending up small bursts of smoke. My stomach growled loudly. I hadn't eaten since arriving, and hunger gnawed at my insides.

Across from me, the black wolf sat still, eyes locked onto the cooking meat. Its ears twitched slightly, but it made no move to get closer.

I chuckled. "You sure are patient."

The wolf didn't respond, only tilting its head slightly.

After a few more minutes, the meat was finally done. Carefully, I pulled it off the makeshift spit and blew on it before taking a bite.

The texture was chewy, the flavor slightly gamey, but to my starving body, it was the best thing I had ever eaten.

I let out a satisfied sigh. "Not bad."

The wolf continued to stare at me, its tail flicking slightly.

I raised an eyebrow. "Oh? You want some too?"

It didn't respond, but the way it licked its lips told me enough.

I smirked. "Alright, fair enough. You did help with the hunt, after all."

I tore off a chunk and tossed it over. The wolf caught it mid-air and swallowed it whole without hesitation.

"You don't waste time, huh?" I muttered, shaking my head.

It simply licked its lips and looked at me again.

I finished my share, savoring every bite. My stomach finally felt full, my body warmer, and for the first time in hours, my mind was clear. Food. Water. Fire. Shelter.

The basics of survival.

I leaned back against a tree, staring up at the sky. The stars were different.

The constellations I once knew—gone. The arrangement of the celestial bodies, the color of the night… all unfamiliar.

A hollow feeling settled in my chest.

I wasn't on Earth.

I had no idea where I was, no idea how I got here, and no clue if I would ever return.

I exhaled slowly, pushing those thoughts away.

Survive first. Figure things out later.

The wolf lay down beside the fire, stretching its body before curling up.

A small, tired smile crossed my face. At least I wasn't completely alone.

I tightened my grip on my branch-club and let my eyes close.

Tomorrow… I would explore.

Tomorrow… I would find out more about this world.

Tomorrow… I would get stronger.

Because if this place was anything like the world I suspected—I couldn't afford to stay weak for long.
