One Piece: Ultimate Villain

Chapter 28: 28. Supernova!

The next morning, after spending the night in his open-air room, Marsh finished freshening up and walked over to Gion's door, knocking lightly.

"Who is it?" Gion's voice came from behind the door, sounding slightly fatigued.

"It's Marsh."

A brief silence from inside.

"Come in."

It was a typical navy office, not very large, but filled with stacks of files on the desk and bookshelves.

At his first glance at the desk, Marsh couldn't help but think back to his vivid simulation with Ain.

"What are you standing around for?" Gion poked her head out from behind a mountain of documents, irritated.

"Oh, right." Marsh shook off his stray thoughts and stepped forward.

It was then he noticed how pale Gion's face looked.

Could it be some kind of after-effect from the Devil Fruit power?

In truth, Gion hadn't slept all night after listening to Sadi's report.

It wasn't that Sadi had reported anything drastic, but every time she closed her eyes, she dreamt of herself as the Blood Rabbit, leading her crew of pirates in acts of pillaging and destruction!

The scenes were so vivid that she didn't dare close her eyes.

"There's a mission for you." She put down her pen and looked at Marsh.

"Oh? What mission?"

As soon as Marsh spoke, Gion pulled a box from under her desk.

It was the same one that Kiri had wrested from the giant gorilla's hands earlier!

"The mission is to deliver this box to Marineford."

What?!

This couldn't be real!

It was his first day, and before he'd even had a chance to meet half the people on base, they were sending him off on a mission?

And to Marineford?

Noticing his expression, Gion's lips curled in a mischievous smile.

Since she couldn't quite figure out what to do with him, the farther he was, the better!

"Ma'am, I've never been to Marineford! And what's in this box? If it's something valuable…" Marsh started.

"As a Marine! Others dream of going to Marineford and here you are, hesitating! Are you feeling apprehensive?!" Gion slapped the desk, feigning anger.

Marsh mentally rolled his eyes.

Fine, it was his first mission, better to get it over with than risk facing endless trouble later.

"Understood! I'll get it done!" Reluctantly, he took the box and instinctively tried to open it.

"What are you doing?!" His hand had barely touched the clasp before Gion's sword was halfway drawn.

"I was just going to take a look!" Marsh said, feigning innocence.

"This is classified information! You're only responsible for handing this box to the recipient. Don't meddle in anything else!"

"And who is the recipient?"

"Admiral Zephyr!"

An hour later, a single-person boat left the port.

After waving goodbye to Kiri and Sadi on the shore, Marsh took out a log pose and started examining it.

He sighed deeply. What a hassle!

He hadn't even had time to pack extra clothes, and Gion had already sent him off to sea!

He hadn't had a break in ages!

Was he destined for a life of endless tasks?

Maybe he should follow his simulated self and…

No!

Marsh, that's dangerous thinking!

Slapping his face to shake off his thoughts, Marsh refocused and began paddling the boat using his Hidden Snow.

"Boom!"

Thunder rolled continuously in the purple-black sky.

The salty sea breeze was filled with a nauseating stench of blood.

Smoker leaned against the cabin wall, his whole body trembling.

The once-lively warship had become a hellish scene!

Blood and dismembered limbs were strewn across the deck, staining it a dark, rusty red. The shouts of his comrades and the wild laughter of pirates filled his ears.

And because of that cursed fruit he'd eaten, Smoker couldn't even hold a sword!

Four days earlier, their fleet had received a distress call.

It came from a fellow fleet guarding the adjacent sea.

The message was just three words:

"Supernova."

That term alone explained everything.

Only young pirates with bounties over a hundred million could be called supernovas.

They were brutal, ruthless, and killed without hesitation!

Their fleet commander didn't hesitate for a moment and led the entire fleet to respond!

But the supernova known as Black Vulture had set a trap!

Nine pirate ships surrounded them, forming a tight blockade!

Within moments, two naval ships were obliterated by cannon fire!

The battle quickly turned into close combat.

In less than an hour, the scene had transformed into something resembling hell on earth!

"For justice!!"

Through his blurred vision, Smoker watched as his squad leader, who had been with him since enlistment, charged toward the pirates.

Blood sprayed everywhere as his squad leader's blood splattered onto his face.

Gurgle... Gurgle...

The familiar head of his squad leader rolled to Smoker's feet.
