Chapter 25: 25. Moon Breathing
Not far away in a two-story building…
"Die! You! Just! Die!"
With a furious shout, Gion woke up from her dream, drenched in sweat.
Her eyes were bloodshot, filled with anger and resentment.
But in the next moment, she froze.
"Where… am I?" Looking around the small but cozy room, she noticed the closet full of Navy uniforms, and a hint of confusion flickered in her eyes.
Had she somehow become part of the Navy?
She clearly remembered that, after being wronged by a certain scoundrel, she had to drop out as a junior cadet and leave Marineford with her family!
However, this version of Gion was not Lieutenant Commander Momousagi.
She was, in fact, the Captain of the Blood Rabbit Pirates in Marsh's simulation!
Why a simulation character had appeared in reality was still unknown.
But one thing was clear, Blood Rabbit Gion was filled with a burning desire to skin alive the scoundrel who had ruined her life!
"Could it be a dream?" Looking in the mirror, Blood Rabbit Gion saw her smooth, pale skin, a stark contrast to the roughness caused by years of exposure to the harsh sea.
The desk in her room was piled with documents, some processed, others still waiting for attention.
On the bottom of each processed file was the signature Lieutenant Commander Gion.
Even in the drawer, there were love letters from fellow Navy officers.
Blood Rabbit Gion's eyes misted up.
If… if she had never met that scoundrel, if her life had never been shattered…
Would this have been her true path?
She slowly opened the door.
Before her was the Navy base under a starlit sky, and even the sea breeze felt gentle.
How long had it been?
How long since she had felt such peace?
No one understood better than her how hard it was for a woman, especially a beautiful woman to survive in this world.
Could she still dream of something other than bloodshed?
Even if it was just a dream, she had at least achieved her Navy dream in some form.
Expanding her Observation Haki, she attempted to savor this long-lost sense of serenity and calm.
The sea breeze, the moonlight, justice.
Wasn't this what she had always dreamed of?
Wait!
That aura?!
Impossible!
She had killed that scoundrel with her own sword!
How could he possibly be nearby?
Blood Rabbit Gion grabbed the finely crafted katana from the shelf and dashed out!
Clang!
With the ringing of a blade, Marsh opened his eyes to see the moon.
Huh?
Why the moon?
Shouldn't he be seeing the ceiling?
"Marsh! Die for me!"
With a growl like something from the depths of hell, a blood-red sword energy came slashing toward him!
"What the fuck! What's going on?!"
Marsh was suddenly wide awake.
He grabbed the bamboo sword by his bedside and barely managed to deflect the sword energy heading straight for his legs.
When he saw who it was, he frowned.
"Lieutenant Commander, what's going on? Attacking me in the middle of the night and tearing down my roof again?"
"Die!"
Two more waves of sword energy followed!
Marsh sighed.
Moon Breathing: First Form - Dark Moon, Evening Palace!
Clang!
A purer, clearer sound than before echoed.
Marsh instantly drew his sword, delivering an iai slash with blinding speed.
Countless crescent-shaped slashes shattered the incoming sword energy.
Gion was shocked. When had this scoundrel learned such sword techniques?
Though surprised, her hands didn't pause.
One-Sword Style - Blood Rabbit Strike!
She leapt high, holding her katana horizontally as she unleashed a torrent of sword energy!
The energy waves merged into a massive blood-red rabbit, jaws open to devour Marsh!
Marsh sheathed his sword, his body spinning rapidly.
As he spun, a vortex of cutting wind surrounded him, grinding the approaching blood-red rabbit to bits!
Moon Breathing: Fifth Form - Moon Spirit Calamitous Eddy!
"Stop, stop! You can't beat someone to death like this!"
After completely neutralizing Gion's attacks, Marsh waved his hands in surrender.
"You!"
Hearing that, Gion clenched her teeth in rage, ready to strike again.
"Come on, Lieutenant Commander, you just demolished my room the other day over a misunderstanding, and now you're back? Is this a callback?"
Marsh dodged repeatedly, clearly annoyed.
Gion's attacks were relentless, her swordsmanship formidable.
But not once did her strikes land on him.
Finally, after half an hour, Gion, hands on her hips, stopped to catch her breath. Marsh simply looked at her, innocent as ever.
"Lieutenant Commander, what's going on?"
Gion, now calm, paused.
"You called me Lieutenant Commander? Are you saying you're my subordinate?"
"Yes, didn't you make me your personal guard?"
"I made you my personal guard?!"
At his words, Gion furrowed her brows.
Wait!
This is a dream!
People say dreams are the opposite of reality.
The fact that she was now a Navy officer instead of a pirate, and the fact that the scoundrel who destroyed her family was now her subordinate, both were opposite of what she knew!
"Hahahaha, so that's how it is?" Gion chuckled darkly, feeling as though she understood.
"Well, things are about to get interesting."
