Atop a giant tree, two young children had gathered. They seemed around 8-9 years old and were quite skinny. Their clothes were covered in dust but that didn't stop their eyes from shining with the hope of living their dreams.

One of them had round eyes, a missing tooth, and short curly blond hair. He wore a large black top hat with a pair of blue goggles wrapped around it, a blue jacket with the sleeves rolled up, a cravat, and a pair of light blue cyan shorts held up by a belt with an elaborate flower-design buckle.

The other one had jaw-length curly black hair. He also sported childish freckles. The child was wearing a t-shirt with knee-length shorts and a black elbow guard on his left arm.

"Let's drop it all here," One of them said while putting down the bag he was holding.

"Yes, we got quite a haul today too!" The other one smiled happily.

"No. This is not enough. We need more money to buy a Pirate ship."

"I know that. At least let me be happy for a moment, you bastard!"

"Shishishi... I just heard something very interesting."

However, just at that moment, a playful voice came from behind them startling the two youngsters.

The two of them grabbed the metal pipes lying beside them and turned around to face the enemy but when they looked behind them, they found nothing.

"Hmm... that's some decent amount of money. Just how many people have to steal it from...?

The voice sounded again and this time again from their behind.

The two fellows could not help but shudder as they robotically turned their heads around.

"Boo!"

Luffy was standing very close to the two of them and scared them.

"Aahhh!" The two young fellows jumped in shock and cried out in horror.

"Shishishishi... Scaredy Cats!" Luffy stuck out his tongue and laughed at their reaction.

On the other hand, the two of them were dumbfounded. They clenched their grip on their pipes and shouted.

"Who are you?! Do you want to die?!"

Pfft-!

Luffy could not help but chuckle. He raised his eyebrow at them and asked. "And you think you can kill me?"

Swoosh-!

Peng!

"Then Come!"

Luffy burst forth with a small Conqueror Haki's blast, directly scaring the new brats.

The two young children shuddered as the metal pipes slipped from their hands and slid down the tree as the two of them instantly went on their knees, scared of the monster.

"Shishishi... you guys are not strong enough to lay a hand on me." Luffy laughed proudly.

"What kind of monster are you?" The blonde boy asked.

"Hey, that's rude!" Luffy furrowed his brows and complained. "My name is Luffy, Monkey D. Luffy. I will become the King of the Pirates!"

His words dumbfounded the two of them as they looked at each other and grumbled. If not for him being stronger than them, they might have jumped on him.

"Anyway, what do you want from us, Luffy?" The blonde boy asked again.

The black-haired boy followed. "If you want to get your hands on our stuff, then don't even think about it. I will fight you to the death."

"I... I am not a thief, okay?" Luffy complained before he crossed his arms in front of his chest and asked. "Aren't you going to introduce yourselves? Or should I call you Scradey Cats?"

"You!..." The black-haired guy clenched his fist and grumbled with an annoyed face.

"Hahaha... don't make her more angry. Anyway, My name is Sabo." The blonde boy scratched the side of his face.

"Wait a minute!" Luffy quickly stopped him and tilted his head in confusion as he asked. "You just said 'her'... But isn't he a boy?"

"Ahahaha..." Sabo listened to his words and laughed happily, covering his stomach.

On the other hand, the black-haired young man grumbled in annoyance. He grabbed the collar of Luffy's shirt and roared angrily.

"Why do you have a problem with that? So what if I am a girl? You dare to look down on me. I will beat your ass."

"Ehh?"

Now, it's Luffy's turn to be left flabbergasted. He could not believe it as he stared at him... ah no, her with an unbelievable expression.

'W-Wha... What the hell...?!'

Luffy cursed inwardly while outside he regained his cool and apologized.

"I am sorry. It's just you dress and act like a man so it's a little difficult to judge."

"Hmph!" She flushed red and waved her hand, releasing his collar.

Sabo laughed and patted her shoulder. "Come on, Ann. Don't be so angry. His apology is sincere. And you cannot blame him since anyone can make such an honest mistake."

"I don't want to talk with him." She snorted and climbed down the tree before running away.

"Ahaha... Sorry about her outburst. But she gets angry when someone looks down on her. Anyway, she is not a bad person. Her name is Portgas D. Ann. We both are 8 years old." Sabo laughed apologetically and quickly explained.

Luffy smiled and waved his hand. "It's alright. I can feel that she has no bad intentions."

Even though he said that but he still kept a few words a secret, his brows were locked together.

'But I sure feel some embarrassment and her heart throbbing rapidly. Could it be...?'

Luffy and Sabo chatted as the former learned everything about the two poor fellows who robbed others to gather money and had a beautiful dream of going on an adventure.

On the other hand, Ann ran into the forest until she was at least dozens of meters away. She was finally away from Luffy and gasped for breath, clearly tired from continuously running.

'Why? Why?... Why am I feeling so weird? This... This is not possible. How can I...? What is this feeling? My chest... It is tightening so hard... Am I going to die? Is that bastard did something to me?!'

Boom!!

At this moment, the jungle suddenly shook, and an extremely huge saber-toothed tiger rushed out from inside the jungle.

Ann was startled by the voice and turned her head around, only to break out in a cold sweat.

"Oops! It's the saber-tooth tiger, the overlord of the forest, run!"

She wanted to jump around and run away but no matter how fast she would run, she could not outrun the massive tiger.

"Fuck!" She quickly climbed the tree while cursing loudly.

However, before she could run away, something unexpected happened again.

Bang!
