One Piece: Signing In as a Pirate Begins with Roger's Execution

Chapter 68: Chapter 68: Assemble! Demon Slayer Order!

The next morning.

Karl opened his eyes, feeling somewhat fatigued.

His mood was poor, which was why he hadn't slept the entire night, leading to his somewhat haggard appearance.

Yesterday, during dinner, he had exchanged a few brief words with Spandine.

At that time, Spandine had told him that he was the overall commander of the mission, having received special permission from Sengoku, which allowed him to activate this unusual call-up authority.

As for the mission's objectives and events, he couldn't help but reveal a little to Karl.

This mission was to head to the West Blue, with the goal of destroying an island.

Spandine didn't explain why, and Karl didn't press further.

What Karl did know, however, was that Akainu (Sakazuki) and Aokiji (Kuzan) would bring naval warships here for assembly.

But from this limited information, Karl had already connected the dots and arrived at one possibility—the Demon Slayer Order!

[Note: This Demon Slayer Order should be Buster Call, I think. But I'm not sure, so I will stick with this for now.]

If this was truly a Demon Slayer Order, and if it was being activated at this time, then it could only be for Ohara!

Just thinking about it sent a chill down Karl's spine.

At first, he had just been following orders, so there hadn't been any need for further thoughts—this was why he had come to Enies Lobby.

However, now that he was here, the reality of the mission—likely aimed at destroying Ohara—was becoming clear.

This left Karl conflicted. He tossed and turned all night, unable to sleep.

"This is truly unpleasant! Even though I don't have any personal ties to those scholars from Ohara, I never expected this Demon Slayer Order to involve me. Sengoku, old man, are you really this heartless?"

Karl sighed helplessly.

If things went wrong with this Demon Slayer Order, it could have a huge impact on Karl's reputation.

It was because of this very order that Akainu had earned the title of cold-blooded and merciless.

Aokiji, too, had become more laid-back and less passionate because of the Navy's ruthless nature and Akainu's unyielding demeanor.

As a time traveler, the Ohara Incident was the last thing Karl wanted to touch. The intricacies of it were too deep.

One wrong move, and he could easily fall into an abyss.

"Forget it. I'll just take it one step at a time. Those scholars dug their own graves. Even I couldn't save them if I tried. But at least Nico Robin, her mother, and the innocent civilians—they don't deserve to die. If the circumstances allow, I'll save them."

Karl sighed again and casually opened his personal panel.

Abilities:

Superhuman Strength (Perfect)

Swordsmanship (Perfect)

Marine Six Styles (Perfect)

Conqueror's Haki (Perfect)

Armament Haki (Mastered)

Observation Haki (Mastered)

Conqueror's Body (previously translated as Body Enhancement) (Perfect)

Hidden Attribute:

Give me some face!

Title:

Mountain Bandit Slayer (Equipped)

Women's Friend

Currently, Karl had four abilities at a perfect level.

He also had a vague sense that beyond perfect abilities, there was even greater power to attain.

For example, his Conqueror's Haki hadn't yet reached the level of Shanks at his peak, where it could destroy tangible objects.

So Karl speculated that "perfect" merely indicated mastery over the ability, but there might still be an even stronger form above it.

However, this was just speculation. Karl didn't know how to continue leveling up; he could only take it one step at a time.

While Karl was contemplating his abilities, a voice rang out from outside.

"Mr. Karl, General Aokiji (Kuzan) and Admiral Akainu (Sakazuki) will be here soon. Would you like to prepare yourself? Also, breakfast is ready if you'd like to eat."

Hearing Spandine's voice, Karl opened the door and saw his sycophantic smile.

"I'll skip breakfast, I'm not hungry."

With that, Karl left, heading towards the harbor.

Spandine followed behind, eager to flatter Karl in every possible way.

Anyone unaware might think Karl was Spandine's superior, with Spandine acting as the subordinate.

Before long, Akainu and Aokiji arrived, bringing over twenty, nearly thirty, naval warships to Enies Lobby.

However, the ships didn't dock immediately. Instead, only Aokiji, Akainu, and a few officers from the warships disembarked at Enies Lobby.

"Ha-ha, long time no see, Karl."

Aokiji (Kuzan) greeted Karl first, smiling warmly.

Akainu (Sakazuki) simply glanced at Karl, his expression unreadable, devoid of any emotion.

The rest of the naval officers looked at Karl with admiration in their eyes.

The navy personnel who had arrived were all at least Colonels, but they held Karl in high esteem. A few of them even asked Karl for his autograph.

Karl wasn't stingy with his time and easily wrote his name for them.

"Ahem. Now that everyone's here, we can announce the specifics of the mission."

Spandine suddenly became serious, leading them into a meeting room.

Once everyone was seated, Spandine distributed materials about Ohara and their mission objectives.

"This mission's target is the island of Ohara, and all the scholars there!"

"They have violated the World Government's ban by privately researching the Void Century and must be erased!"

"The Void Century is incredibly dangerous. If its secrets are leaked, it could present an irreversible threat!"

"Therefore, we must reach Ohara before they complete their research and eliminate the threat in its cradle!"

Spandine spoke passionately, emphasizing the danger of Ohara, and how the scholars' research into the Void Century could bring about the destruction of the world and humanity.

He laid all the blame on the scholars of Ohara, painting them as demons who must be eradicated.

If they weren't stopped, the world would never recover.

Spandine's pre-battle speech was so compelling that the navy soldiers were stirred up with fervor.

Even Aokiji was somewhat swept up, showing an expression of resigned acceptance.

Had Karl not known the plot in advance, he likely would have been moved by Spandine's impassioned words.

Spandine, despite his lack of personal strength, was truly capable of rallying people. After all, he was the head of CP9, and he managed to manipulate even the top brass of the Navy.
