There were five warships in total, with the flagship in the center being Vice Admiral Akainu's warship.
Akainu stood on the deck, his gaze locked on O'Hara in the distance. His fists clenched tightly, exuding a commanding presence.
"Increase the firepower!" he ordered, his tone unwavering.
A hesitant officer beside him attempted to interject, "But Vice Admiral Akainu, didn't the Fleet Admiral instruct us to only probe the situation? If we—"
Before the officer could finish, Akainu interrupted sharply. "Justice cannot be compromised. The very existence of this island is a sin, and it must be eradicated!"
His stern declaration silenced the soldiers around him. Akainu's fierce expression left no room for further discussion. Orders were orders, and they had no choice but to comply.
Cannons roared to life, bombarding the defensive wall made of the Tree of Omniscience's roots. The air filled with the acrid scent of gunpowder, while the shells whistled through the sky, crashing against the seemingly impenetrable barrier.
Within the Island
Roja stood near Robin and Olvia, cloaking himself and Weevil in illusions with the power of his Fantasy Fruit. His figure and Weevil's were entirely concealed beneath the magical shroud.
Gently ruffling Robin's hair, Roja said softly, "Robin, let me give you a lesson today. Watch closely; this is a rare opportunity to observe a real battle."
With those words, Roja placed both hands on the ground.
"Wood Release: Birth of the World of Trees!"
The technique unleashed an immense surge of vitality into the ground. The roots of the Tree of Omniscience, previously forming the island's defense, began to shift and retreat underground, as if obeying Roja's command.
Turning to Weevil, Roja gave a simple yet decisive order: "Weevil, destroy every warship in your path. Kill anyone who dares to oppose you."
"Understood!" Weevil replied, charging toward the approaching warships without hesitation.
The performance had begun.
On the deck of his flagship, Akainu's eyes narrowed as the defensive wall of roots collapsed, revealing two cloaked figures. His fists tightened, but he remained composed.
His gaze shifted between the two figures. The normal-sized man—he recognized him immediately. It was the mysterious warrior who had defeated both him and Aokiji with a single strike. The other figure, towering like a mountain, was new to him—a behemoth radiating sheer menace.
Despite the odds, Akainu showed no sign of retreat. His resolve burned hotter than his magma.
"The Navy does not retreat!" he declared. "Only absolute justice can prevail against the darkness!"
With that, Akainu launched himself into the air using Geppo (Moonwalk), taking the high ground. His arms transformed into molten lava, rolling and seething with heat.
"Feel the wrath of Great Eruption!" Akainu roared, unleashing a ferocious barrage of molten fists at Weevil.
The attack tore through the air, burning it in its wake, and struck Weevil with devastating force. Two deep wounds opened on Weevil's body, magma searing his flesh. Yet, in moments, his body began to regenerate—the injuries sealing themselves as if nothing had happened.
Akainu froze momentarily, stunned by Weevil's monstrous self-healing ability. But before he could react, Weevil closed the distance, his immense frame moving with shocking speed.
Weevil's fists, wrapped in Armament Haki, came crashing down on Akainu. However, Akainu anticipated the attack, partially transforming his body into magma to evade damage. He smirked.
"You think such a crude attack will work on me? I've endured hellish training for this moment!" Akainu retorted, his confidence unwavering.
Summoning a surge of magma, Akainu unleashed his signature move: "Hellhound!"
His arms morphed into enormous, snarling magma hounds, their searing jaws snapping as they tore toward Weevil. The scorching heat radiated off the attack, causing the air itself to shimmer.
"Face justice and be consumed by the flames of righteousness!" Akainu shouted as the magma beasts lunged at Weevil.
But then, something shifted. Akainu's instincts flared—a primal warning that made his heart race. A sense of impending doom gripped him. Weevil's muscles bulged grotesquely, veins pulsing with raw power. His blood-red eyes burned with ferocity as he obliterated the magma hounds with sheer brute force.
Before Akainu could recover, Weevil moved faster than before, his fist, coated in Armament Haki, colliding with Akainu's head with thunderous impact. Akainu reeled from the blow, his vision blurring as dizziness overtook him.
From the shore, Roja observed the clash calmly, shaking his head in mild disappointment.
"Akainu hasn't changed," Roja muttered to Robin. "He's strong, no doubt, but he lets his overconfidence blind him. Always spouting justice, yet unable to adapt when it matters most."
Robin nodded thoughtfully, soaking in Roja's analysis. Her gaze remained fixed on the battle, her mind racing as she tried to anticipate the next moves. This was more than a battle—it was a priceless lesson.
Nearby, Olvia watched Roja with gratitude. She understood the significance of what he was doing for Robin. By exposing her to such high-level combat and guiding her analysis, Roja was shaping her into a true survivor of this dangerous world.
Back in the skies, the clash between Weevil and Akainu raged on, their battle shaking the very air. The soldiers aboard the warships were frozen, their eyes wide with fear and awe.
"That guy… he's a monster!" one soldier whispered.
"And the man on the shore hasn't even lifted a finger yet," another muttered, trembling.
"That's the guy who destroyed the Buster Call fleet with one swing of his sword," someone added.
"If he decides to step in, we don't stand a chance," another concluded, their voice barely audible over the chaos.
Realizing the gravity of their situation, one of the officers barked an order. "Contact Fleet Admiral Sengoku immediately! We need reinforcements!"
"But bypassing Vice Admiral Akainu… won't that be seen as insubordination?" a soldier hesitated.
"Do you think it matters if we're dead? Send the message now, or we won't have another chance!"
The officer's words lit a fire under the crew, and they scrambled to send the distress call. The battle for O'Hara had reached a tipping point.
