Inside the fourth level, Blazing Hell, near the passageway to Freezing Hell, the two titans of Impel Down—the legendary "bronze wall and iron wall"—stood face to face.
Magellan, the administrator, glared at Shiryu of the Rain, the warden, his expression grim.
"Shiryu!" Magellan's voice carried the weight of authority and fury as dark purple venom surged around his body.
Three massive, serpentine poison dragons took shape, their fanged maws snapping menacingly as they coiled around Magellan, ready to strike.
Shiryu, however, remained unfazed. He puffed his cigar arrogantly, his infamous blade Thunderstorm resting casually on his shoulder.
"You planned to defect all along, didn't you?" Magellan demanded, his eyes sharp with suspicion.
Shiryu grinned. "That's right. I've had enough of this suffocating prison. No freedom, no future—just endless monotony."
He exhaled smoke, his tone dripping with sarcasm. "What's the point of being the second-in-command of the greatest deep-sea prison? The youngest warden in Impel Down's history? To the World Government, I'm nothing more than a glorified watchdog!"
Magellan's frown deepened. "So that's why you slaughtered those prisoners? But why so many Devil Fruit users?!"
Shiryu chuckled, his grin widening.
"Other than a few scum I killed out of frustration, there's a deeper reason," he said darkly, his tone laced with malice.
Magellan's eyes narrowed.
"Have you ever heard the theory?" Shiryu continued. "When a Devil Fruit user dies, their ability reincarnates, randomly appearing somewhere in the world. But the closer the death is to the new fruit, the higher the odds of its reappearance."
"You're insane!" Magellan barked, his voice tinged with disbelief.
Shiryu's smirk deepened as he nodded. "Insane? Maybe. But it's a gamble I'm willing to take."
Under Magellan's horrified gaze, Shiryu elaborated, his voice calm yet dripping with madness.
"Sure, the ability might not rebirth nearby. Even if it does, I might not find it first. Maybe another staff member will stumble upon it... but as long as they don't eat it immediately, I'll just take it from them. After all, who's going to stop me? My strength, my authority—everything is in my favor."
Magellan's fists clenched, venom dripping to the floor.
"This is madness," he said through gritted teeth.
"One Devil Fruit may not work," Shiryu continued, his voice rising with twisted enthusiasm. "Five may not work. Ten may not. But what about twenty? Thirty? Forty or more? Impel Down has no shortage of prisoners for me to test this theory on!"
Shiryu licked his lips, his eyes gleaming with unrestrained bloodlust.
Magellan shuddered at the sight. The man before him was no longer a warden—he was a monster.
"Shiryu of the Rain," Magellan snarled, venom surging in waves around him. "You've committed unspeakable atrocities, and yet you feel no remorse. You've fallen beyond redemption!"
The three venom dragons roared, their massive forms lunging at Shiryu with terrifying speed.
"You'll spend the rest of your life in Eternal Hell!"
Shiryu smirked, unbothered by Magellan's wrath.
"That's not going to happen," he said coldly.
In a flash, an ornate pistol appeared in Shiryu's hand.
"Momo: Thirtyfold Gun!"
With precision, he pulled the trigger three times.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The bullets shot out like streaks of lightning, expanding mid-air into shells the size of human heads. They collided with the venom dragons, exploding on impact.
Boom!
Flames erupted, and smoke filled the air, mixing with splashes of venom. The shockwave rippled through the room, shaking the very walls of Impel Down.
"Director Magellan! Warden Shiryu!"
A large group of heavily armed guards arrived, their eyes widening in shock at the sight before them.
They stared, dumbfounded, as the two figures stood locked in a deadly standoff amidst the chaos.
"What... what's happening?!" one guard stammered, his voice trembling.
The rest stood frozen, unsure whether to intervene or retreat as they bore witness to the confrontation between Impel Down's two most powerful forces.
"That was... how could it be?!"
Magellan's pupils narrowed sharply. His eyes widened in disbelief as he stared at Shiryu of the Rain, who stood confidently with a sword in one hand and a pistol in the other. Cold sweat dripped from his brow.
"Could it be...?" he muttered, his mind racing.
The sudden burst of power—the bullets that had grown exponentially in speed and size—was unmistakable. There was only one Devil Fruit that could explain it: the Paramecia Momo Momo no Mi, the power of the infamous World Destroyer, Byrnndi World, a prisoner held in frozen stasis for over a decade in Eternal Hell.
As the pieces clicked together, Magellan's expression darkened. A chill ran down his spine.
"What did you do to the prisoners of Eternal Hell, Shiryu?" he demanded, anger and shock mingling in his voice.
Shiryu chuckled, the sound cruel and mocking.
"Hehehe... I failed again and again, searching all of Impel Down for a reborn Devil Fruit," he admitted. "Even the staff found nothing. I was ready to give up."
He aimed the still-smoking pistol at Magellan, grinning wickedly. "But fate... fate chose me, Magellan."
Shiryu glanced at his pistol. "This beauty? Specially crafted by Dr. Hawkins to amplify my new abilities. These bullets? Explosive rounds with terrifying power. And when enhanced by the Momo Momo no Mi, their range and destruction become unparalleled."
Shiryu smirked and continued, his voice dripping with sadistic glee.
"Dr. Hawkins even prepared armor-piercing rounds—designed specifically for those with strong Haki. Unlike that clunky Gatling gun, this pistol is elegant. Perfect for a swordsman like me. It's small, deadly, and perfect for taking enemies by surprise."
Magellan's venom began to surge again, his body trembling with fury. "You... bastard!"
Shiryu's eyes gleamed with malice. Without hesitation, he aimed at Magellan and fired.
"Momo: Thirtyfold Gun!"
Bang! Bang!
The sharp, armor-piercing rounds flew through the air, their size and speed multiplied thirtyfold. They tore through the space between them with terrifying force.
Magellan's instincts screamed danger. His venom surged outward, condensing into a roaring, Haki-infused dragon, which lunged at the incoming projectiles.
Boom!
The collision was devastating. Explosions rocked the room as venom splattered everywhere, but the armor-piercing rounds were relentless. They tore through the venom dragon, spinning at high speed and carrying a horrifying impact.
One round grazed Magellan's arm, leaving a deep gash that sprayed blood. He gritted his teeth, narrowly avoiding a fatal hit.
The bullets continued their destructive path, punching massive holes through the reinforced walls of the prison. Smoke and dust filled the air, and the screams of unlucky prisoners caught in the crossfire echoed through the chaos.
Some prisoners were obliterated instantly, while others lay wounded, writhing in agony. The scene was carnage—blood and destruction everywhere.
Shiryu lowered his pistol, his expression calm yet menacing.
"I'm done here," he said coldly.
Momo: Tenfold Speed - Shave!
With a single stomp, Shiryu activated his Devil Fruit ability. His speed became blinding, transforming him into an afterimage as he vanished from the scene.
The guards who had rushed to the area stood frozen, staring in disbelief.
"W-Where did he go?" one guard stammered, his voice shaking.
"Damn it..." Magellan growled.
Ignoring the blood dripping from his wound, he unleashed more venom. It formed a twisting, cylindrical tunnel—a makeshift path that shot toward the elevator shaft like a serpent.
Magellan propelled himself through the venom tunnel, chasing after Shiryu like a predator hunting its prey.
"You won't escape!" he roared, his voice echoing through the halls.
Boom!
The hunt was on.
