One Piece: My code name is Green Bull

Chapter 10: Chapter 10: Headquarters Giant

"What are you thinking?" Dragon asked, noticing Jon deep in thought and unable to contain his curiosity.

"Nothing much. To be honest, I haven't quite figured out what's going on myself."

Jon didn't share his guess. It was only a hypothesis, and he wasn't yet certain if it was accurate. Moreover, he didn't want to reveal his cards too early.

Dragon's gaze flickered. He could tell Jon had likely thought of something, but he didn't press. After all, they were merely roommates, not yet close enough to exchange secrets.

Under Dragon's scrutiny, Jon felt a bit uncomfortable. Knowing what Dragon would eventually go through, Jon wasn't keen on getting too close to him. This guy was destined to leave the Navy someday and become the leader of the Revolutionary Army.

Having come to this world, Jon might also find some aspects of the World Government unpleasant. But when it came to the Navy, he felt a sense of belonging. After all, his father was part of the Navy, and it was within the Navy that Jon had the opportunity to grow.

So, even if the Navy operated under the World Government and had its dark sides, he had never considered leaving it. Naturally, he didn't want to be influenced by Dragon, the eventual leader of the Revolutionary Army.

The dormitory fell into silence once more.

---

At Navy Headquarters, in the Fleet Admiral's office!

As the longtime Fleet Admiral of the Navy, Kong had proven himself a capable leader.

Kong was an immensely strong man with a broad chest. His yellowish-brown skin reflected his toughness. His white hair and beard, combined with his muscular build and the scars on his face, made him look less like an office-bound administrator and more like a fierce warrior on the battlefield.

In the office, besides Kong, there were four others, including Admiral Zephyr, who had just entered.

The five people present represented the current power center of Navy Headquarters. In addition to Kong, the group included Admiral Zephyr, Admiral Sengoku, Vice Admiral Garp, and Vice Admiral Tsuru.

Sengoku, Garp, Tsuru, and Zephyr had all joined the Navy in the same cohort. Sengoku and Zephyr had risen to the rank of Admiral, while Garp and Tsuru held the rank of Vice Admiral, with both being strong contenders for promotion.

These five individuals not only held the highest authority in the Navy but were also among its most powerful fighters.

"Garp, you still refuse to accept the promotion to Admiral?"

Kong asked sternly, addressing Garp, who sat sloppily, munching on rice crackers with a laid-back demeanor. It wasn't the first time Kong had posed this question to him.

Garp waved his hand dismissively. "Nope, not interested. I'm pretty comfortable as I am now. If I became an Admiral, I'd have to deal with all sorts of headaches and risk my life for those guys. I've got better things to do."

"Uh-huh," Sengoku coughed twice, glaring at Garp. "Watch your words."

"Tch," Garp replied indifferently.

Kong was long accustomed to Garp's personality and didn't get angry. He simply felt helpless. Garp was excellent in every way, but his rebellious attitude gave Kong constant headaches.

As the Fleet Admiral, Kong had to consider the future of the Navy. Currently, the standard three Admiral positions were one short.

Looking across Navy Headquarters, Garp was undoubtedly the most qualified to become an Admiral. However, he adamantly refused to take the position and clung stubbornly to his Vice Admiral rank.

Had it been anyone else, Kong would have used every means to convince them to accept the promotion. Having three Admirals carried far more weight in deterring pirates than two.

But considering Garp's insubordinate nature and his origins in the D clan, Kong had decided, after much deliberation, not to push too hard. He hoped Garp would one day voluntarily dedicate himself fully to the World Government.

As for Tsuru, while her qualifications were sufficient, her strength was slightly lacking compared to Sengoku and the others.

Although Tsuru possessed the capabilities of an Admiral candidate, Kong had never seriously considered promoting her. Tsuru herself wasn't interested in the role either.

Kong felt frustrated. The position of Admiral, coveted by countless others, was treated casually by the likes of Garp and Tsuru.

Setting the issue aside, Kong turned to Zephyr and asked, "Zephyr, you've just met with the elite recruits selected from various branches. What are your impressions? Are there any particularly promising individuals?"

Kong was deeply invested in this new batch of recruits. This round of recruitment was far more extensive than usual, and the Navy's future was something he, as Fleet Admiral, had to take seriously.

Sengoku, Garp, and Tsuru also turned their attention to Zephyr, equally curious.

Zephyr replied, "From what I've observed so far, they're excellent. Many of them are very talented—on par with what we had in our cohort."

"Oh?"

Kong was immediately intrigued. Zephyr's cohort had produced two Admirals, several Vice Admirals, and exceptional talents like Garp and Tsuru. That class was considered one of the most outstanding in decades.

Now Zephyr was comparing this cohort to his own, suggesting a similarly high level of excellence. Could this group really be that exceptional?

Zephyr smiled. "I didn't expect this batch to have so many outstanding young recruits. Looks like I got lucky."

Garp laughed loudly. "Hahaha! Zephyr, my son's in this batch. You're probably talking about him, right? Hahaha! You're not wrong—Dragon definitely inherited some of my talent."

Zephyr gave Garp a sidelong glance, clearly unimpressed by his narcissism.

"Dragon is indeed excellent, but I wasn't referring to him."

Garp immediately frowned. "What? Someone's better than Dragon?"

Garp knew his son well. But while he was familiar with Dragon, Zephyr was not. Based on the records alone, Dragon didn't stand out as much as some others.

Zephyr continued, "This cohort has two exceptionally outstanding recruits—one with the Glint-Glint Fruit and the other with the Magma-Magma Fruit. To be frank, these two are far ahead of the rest. They're monsters."

Hearing this, the room fell silent. Garp's expression shifted as he exclaimed, "Two Logia Devil Fruit users?"

Kong spoke in a grave tone. "The Glint-Glint Fruit and Magma-Magma Fruit—both are top-tier Logia abilities with immense potential. To have both appear at once is extraordinary."

As Fleet Admiral, Kong was well-versed in Devil Fruit lore. The Glint-Glint and Magma-Magma Fruits were among the strongest in the Logia category.

Zephyr replied, "According to the records, there's no mistake. But I'm not just impressed by their abilities. Their physical prowess far surpasses the other recruits. Based on my assessment, both have the potential to at least reach Vice Admiral rank, with a high likelihood of becoming Admiral candidates or even Admirals."

Kong nodded solemnly. "If that's the case, these two must be given special attention. The future of the Navy depends on nurturing them."

"Of course," Zephyr agreed.

"Are there any other promising recruits?" Sengoku asked out of curiosity.

"There are two Zoan Devil Fruit users as well. But beyond that, there's one more recruit I find particularly intriguing. He's very unique—unlike anyone I've ever seen before."

Kong noticed Zephyr's unusual expression and couldn't help but ask, "Unique how? What makes him stand out?"

"Born with innate Haki," Zephyr replied.

The other four were visibly shocked, and Kong exclaimed, "Innate Haki? Does he possess Conqueror's Haki?"
