One piece :I open the locks of the heart

Chapter 20: Chapter 19: Panic in Lamini

In the opulent yet chaotically disordered office of the governor of Lamini, a thunderous crash shook the walls as the governor, now transformed into a gigantic gorilla, smashed his massive fist down on his own desk. The wood splintered, sending fragments flying and causing his terrified assistant to step back. In this imposing form, with taut muscles under his glossy black fur, the governor looked wild and formidable.

"But where on earth is André with the money?" he growled, his rough voice resonating through the room. His heavy gaze drifted into the void as he slowly returned to his human form, his features tense with irritation. "I'm going to end up with a bounty on my head if these men aren't paid on time…"

A sigh escaped his lips, and he rubbed his temple, muttering, "What an idiot I was to take that Devil Fruit on credit," clenching his fists. "500 million Berries for a basic Zoan… and I've barely managed to repay 50 million."

A sharp knock on the door pulled him out of his dark thoughts. "Enter," he barked irritably, straightening up.

The door cautiously opened, and a guard stepped into the room. He paused briefly, taken aback by the state of the office, but quickly regained his composure, accustomed to the governor's fits of rage.

"Sir, we've lost contact with all the island's bandit teams," announced the guard, his eyes fixed forward. "The reconnaissance teams we sent out have also stopped reporting."

The governor slowly shifted his heavy gaze to the guard before sighing, his face creased with frustration. "Call the Marines," he ordered with an irritated wave of his hand. "Inform them of these disappearances and let them handle matters outside the city."

The guard bowed and left, leaving the governor alone with his assistant, a small, nervous man who observed the scene silently.

"What do you think of all this, Bobby?" asked the governor, raising an eyebrow, trying to mask his own nervousness behind a facade of control.

The assistant cleared his throat, then pulled a wanted poster from a pile of papers. "From what I've heard, in the Goa Kingdom and at the pirate base on Oykot, someone is releasing dark creatures to hunt down certain individuals. Rumor has it he even faced off against Vice-Admiral Garp before fleeing."

The governor frowned, a glimmer of fear in his eyes. The assistant handed him the wanted poster. The governor took it and stared at a sketch of a young man with spiky hair and determined eyes, wielding some kind of key, with a bounty of 50 million Berries below it.

"The report mentions that Garp was aided by another young man, or he might have been injured," the assistant continued. "They say he uses a mysterious power capable of transporting enemies to a place filled with his monsters and even briefly blocking the vice-admiral's attacks."

The governor gulped, his face slowly crumbling as he read the note. "Someone who stood up to that Marine demon… and managed to escape…" He let out a groan, burying his head in his hands, his shoulders slumping under the weight of fear.

"Let's hope he doesn't come here..." he murmured in a weak voice, revealing the cowardice hiding behind his imposing stature and the power of his Devil Fruit.

Outside the city

"Luffy, Nami, I'll leave it up to you to decide what to do once inside, but there are two rules to follow. First, wait until the Sans-cœur have completely overrun the city. Second, Nami, don't go to the black market alone. Go to the governor's mansion with Luffy first, then you can head to the black market together. This will give me time to clear out the place a bit," I said, shifting into Sora's appearance. I then summoned four Darksides and two Armures Gardiennes, their imposing silhouettes towering over us in the dim light of the woods.

"Okay, we'll wait around in a quiet spot," Luffy declared with a slight smile, while Nami nodded, a sly smile on her face.

I turned to Luffy, a slight grin on my face. "Oh, and Luffy, if you manage to beat the governor, prevent the Sans-cœur from transforming him. I'd like to do it myself to see if the result is different with someone who has a Devil Fruit."

"No problem," he replied calmly, walking away with Nami. I really appreciated this version of Luffy—more level-headed. The aftermath of the last difficult-mode dungeon seemed to have tempered his impulsiveness. I watched my companions' figures disappear into the distance before turning to my massive summons.

"You four, call in some Ombres," I ordered the Darksides. Then, turning to the Armures Gardiennes, I added, "As for you, wait for my command here, then head toward the city with me."

The Darksides obeyed immediately, their massive hands stretching toward the ground to summon dark pools. Shadows began to ooze from their palms, spreading in thick, oily waves beneath our feet. Five pools of darkness appeared simultaneously, and within moments, Ombres emerged from these wells of darkness, their wavering, furtive shapes multiplying rapidly.

Each hard-mode Darkside could generate about ten Ombres per minute, and in just ten minutes, five hundred had taken form. But I didn't stop there and decided to produce five hundred more. The shade of the surrounding trees provided ideal terrain, and soon, a thousand Ombres stood in silence, ready to swarm the city.

I flew up to one of the Darksides and landed on its massive head, surveying the dark army that stretched out before me. "You, come with me," I commanded the Darkside, which rose to its full height, towering above the surrounding treetops, its head turning toward me obediently.

I glanced back at the others. "You three, keep generating Ombres," I said, and they complied without hesitation, their slow, repetitive gestures continuing to increase our numbers.

Finally ready, I raised my Keyblade in the air and called out in a loud voice, "Forward, to the city!"

The thousand Ombres started to move, an undulating black tide flowing through the woods, their small blue eyes glowing in the darkness. They were followed by the two Armures Gardiennes, their mechanical, heavy movements setting the pace for the army, while the Darkside I was riding advanced in silence, its footsteps resonating in deep vibrations through the ground.

As we neared the city, a cold excitement ran through me, watching the Sans-cœur army advancing like an unstoppable force, ready to descend on Lamini. The city walls were illuminated by torches and lanterns, casting flickering shadows on the ramparts where the guards began to panic, their silhouettes running frantically along the walls, their eyes wide with terror at the sight of the black tide spreading toward them.

The Ombres glided into the ground, spreading out in a vast dark blanket and slipping beneath the gates and through the alleys, flooding the city like a creeping shadow. The guards who tried to block the gates quickly found themselves surrounded by these creatures with their glowing blue eyes. One of them, trembling with terror, backed up against the wall, his sword shaking in his hand.

"Mama, I wanna go home!" shouted a soldier, tears streaming down his cheeks. But before he could take a step, an Ombre sprang at him, diving toward his heart with chilling speed. His scream died in his throat as he transformed into a Soldier Sans-cœur, immediately joining the ranks of the army.

Panic-stricken screams erupted throughout the city. Residents rushed to their homes or took refuge behind locked doors. Families ran through the streets—mothers clutching their children, fathers shielding their loved ones with their arms. A man, carrying his young daughter in his arms, came close to a group of Ombres. He stopped short, ready to defend himself, but the creatures passed by him without a glance, focusing instead on the corrupt guards and bandits hiding in the alleys.

A silence settled around these innocents, those whose hearts were untouched by greed or cruelty. They looked at each other in surprise, realizing they hadn't been attacked. The mother of a young boy looked up at the sky, whispering a prayer of thanks, while another woman, tears in her eyes, held her child tightly.

Amidst the chaos, rumors spread quickly: "The creatures only go after the wicked!" "They ignore good people!" A glimmer of hope began to form among those who had hidden away in their homes, and faces appeared at windows, watching the dark wave sweeping through the city with a careful and relentless purge.

The guards and bandits, however, did not share this sense of hope. The alleys were littered with discarded weapons and fallen helmets, evidence of desperate attempts to escape. A group of soldiers, trapped in a small square, tried to put up a fight. They brandished their weapons, but their hands visibly trembled.

"Stand back!" shouted their captain, his voice laced with panic. But a tide of Sans-cœur surrounded them in silence, their blue eyes gleaming like flames in the night. One by one, the creatures launched themselves at the soldiers, absorbing their corrupted essence and transforming them into additional Ombres that immediately turned against their former comrades.

From my perch, I watched as Nami and Luffy slipped into the shadows, following a group of Ombres and Soldiers Sans-cœur toward the entrance of the governor's mansion. To reinforce my troops' presence in the city, I released the two Armures Gardiennes in the central square after storing them, ensuring they were ordered not to touch any buildings to avoid unnecessary destruction. Outside the city, my Darkside stood on guard, ready to intercept any corrupt fugitives.

With a determined stride, I headed toward the black market. As I approached, I saw a group of Soldiers Sans-cœur scratching at a wall, trying to force open a locked door. With a fluid motion of my Keyblade, I struck the lock, unlocking the door. Instantly, the Sans-cœur and my Rondouillards surged inside, joining the Ombres that had already infiltrated, and a chaotic melee broke out in the vast underground of the market.

The black market operatives, unlike the city guards, proved to be more resilient and experienced. They held their ground, even managing to fend off and take down some of the Ombres. But gradually, the sheer number of my Sans-cœur forced them back. Shouts of panic and fury echoed as the black market became a scene of shadow and chaos.

Suddenly, an explosion sounded, scattering the Sans-cœur attempting to approach. A large man, armed with a saber and a belt filled with small bombs, entered the scene. He threw a series of grenades toward my Rondouillards, and in a flash of light, several were obliterated. His movements were swift for someone of his build, and he cut down the Sans-cœur with calculated precision.

I smirked, realizing I had finally encountered a worthy opponent. Raising my Keyblade, I began casting an ice spell, sending sharp icicles flying toward him. The man dodged, parrying with a deft swing of his blade, then fixed me with a furious gaze.

"Get out of here, you filthy creatures! This place is under my jurisdiction!" he roared, slicing through a Rondouillard with a vertical slash, his determined eyes undeterred by the constant influx of Ombres.

"This place will be purged by me, Dark D. Sora," I replied coldly, launching another volley of ice spikes that shattered against the walls around him. The entire room seemed to chill as I kept up the pressure.

The man managed to fend off several of my attacks, but under the relentless onslaught of the Sans-cœur, he began to falter. Spotting an opening, I quickly cast a "Stop" spell, freezing him in total stillness, his eyes wide with surprise and fear. Wasting no time, I approached and plunged my Keyblade directly into his heart, absorbing his remaining strength. His body twisted, transforming into a mass of shadows, and in his place appeared a Darkside and an Assassin Simili that immediately merged with my Keyblade.

I let out a satisfied laugh, then turned to survey the chaos in the room. The members of the black market had all been defeated, transforming into Ombres and Soldiers, filling my shadow with an additional contingent. But in the center of this scene of devastation, one figure still stood, unmoving.

Curious, I approached and observed the man who was trembling, surrounded by my Sans-cœur. His terrified eyes stared at me, but he remained silent.

"You're not part of this band of criminals, are you?" I asked, scrutinizing him with curiosity.

The man gulped but finally replied in a trembling voice, "Lieutenant De Gaulle, intelligence officer of the Marine."

I narrowed my eyes, intrigued by the situation. "Do you have a photosnail?" I asked, crossing my arms with a smile.

The man nodded and pulled out a small camera snail, handing it over cautiously.

Settling comfortably, I posed on the massive knee of a Darkside. "Take a photo. It'll be good for my bounty poster," I said, giving him a wink.

De Gaulle took the photo, visibly perplexed, but he made no comment. Rising, I observed the black market now completely emptied of opposition, then turned back to him. "Go on, get out. Leave the city and report back to your superiors."

The man nodded, quickly slipping away as I gathered my troops, raiding various hidden stashes and collecting journals, log poses, and, most importantly, treasures. At a glance, I estimated I had gathered around 120 million berries and even came across a red Devil Fruit shaped like a gourd, though I didn't know its attributes.

I stored it in my vault with the rest, thinking, I'll wait to get an encyclopedia on Devil Fruits before I investigate further.

(NDA: The first person to comment will get the bounty poster photo ^^ I'll also be sharing a few that I've generated with the AI.)
