One piece :I open the locks of the heart

Chapter 19: Chapter 18: Premise of a Myth

After spending two days taking care of Léa, making her laugh, and watching over her, I'd made a decision. I entrusted a significant sum to the village clinic to ensure she would lack for nothing, and I'd also asked Makino to visit her from time to time to bring her a bit of warmth and familiarity.

That morning, a light mist floated around the docks of Fuschia. The sea seemed still half-asleep, its waves gently gliding over the sand. I had taken Luffy and Nami a bit away from the village, where no one would come to disturb us.

"Luffy, Nami!" I called firmly, capturing their attention.

They turned to me, visibly intrigued. With a fluid movement, I took our ship out of my storage, deploying it into the water with an ease that I knew always impressed Luffy.

"I have something to show you," I added, smiling as I felt a rush of excitement. "I recently unlocked a new ability, and I think it could change a lot for us."

Without waiting further, I activated the royal necklace around my neck and immediately felt a wave of power flow through me. My appearance began to shift, my features reshaping, my clothes changing to take on a more familiar look… though not my own.

Before their eyes, I took on the appearance of Sora, dressed in his iconic combat outfit, a bold gleam in his eyes and a determined expression on his face. Even my voice seemed altered—sharper, more precise than usual, yet still tinged with Sora's innocent spirit.

Luffy's eyes widened, both impressed and confused. "Whoa! You can transform?! That's awesome!"

Nami, on the other hand, seemed more observant. "Is it just a change of appearance?" she asked, a glimmer of interest in her gaze.

I shook my head, smiling. "With this new ability, I can not only take on Sora's appearance and skills, but I can also release Sans-cœur on islands without associating them directly with our crew. This will allow us to avoid leaving traces that could lead back to us."

My voice, though sharper, kept certain intonations that still betrayed me a bit. Luffy stepped closer, his eyes sparkling with excitement. "Jordan, you're really incredible! You'll be able to realize your dream without totally hiding!"

Nami looked at me, both surprised and impressed. "With this ability, we'll be able to protect more people without bringing trouble down on us… This is perfect. You could even release Sans-cœur in my village without drawing Arlong's wrath on me."

I took a deep breath, looking at my transformed hands. "Yes. This power opens up a world of possibilities. And I intend to use it to bring us closer to all our dreams."

We set sail, and thanks to Nami's navigation skills, we quickly headed toward a densely populated island, located not far from Dawn Island but in the opposite direction from the route Luffy and I had taken when we first left. We arrived quickly on the island, and there were no pirate ships in sight at the port. To avoid any trouble, we circled around the island, and I stored the ship in my chest.

As we made our way, I explained to them, "I could open a dungeon out at sea, but honestly, it would be risky. At sea, we could be caught off guard, and if our crew grows in the future, it would leave part of us vulnerable."

Luffy shrugged with a grin, clearly not concerned about any danger as long as there was a challenge, though he furrowed his brow at my second concern about future allies.

"Alright, Jordan, for now, we'll stick to making stops to enter your dungeons," Luffy declared, taking on his role as captain seriously. "Nami, do you have any info on this island?" he asked, turning to her.

"The problem on this island isn't pirates but the black market and bandits," Nami explained as we walked toward the town. "Despite the large size of the island, there's only one major city, Lamini, and a few nameless villages. Pirates don't dare cause havoc here because of the Marine base at Shell Town on the neighboring island and the armed forces of the governor. They say he can turn into a gorilla," she finished as we approached one of the so-called nameless villages.

"Probably a Devil Fruit user," Luffy remarked, a hint of anticipation in his voice.

"You're not planning to fight him, are you, Captain? We came here to raise money for Nami by unlocking the keyhole on this island," I said, choosing to refer to the Sans-cœur release mission discreetly.

"The Sans-cœur will probably attack him anyway since he's in league with the bandits and the black market," Nami said simply, with a smile.

We continued walking until we reached a small village on the island's edge. But as we neared the central square, an unusual commotion caught our attention. In front of a group of silent townspeople, a contingent of soldiers stood in line, looking menacing.

Before taking action, I gestured quickly to Luffy and Nami. "Both of you, hide," I murmured, before shifting into Sora's form and discreetly moving toward the group of soldiers, my gaze dark.

In the village square, the villagers had gathered, their faces tense and fearful. In front of them stood a contingent of soldiers, their uniforms gleaming in stark contrast to the worn clothes of the locals. The officer, a stout man with a hard gaze, faced an elderly man hunched over, supported by a simple cane, his back marked by years of toil. His trembling voice broke the silence:

"But... we already paid this month…" he murmured pleadingly, a faint glimmer of hope flickering in his eyes.

The officer raised an eyebrow, a sneer spreading across his lips. "Don't make me use another method of collection, old man," he said with a menacing tone that made the crowd shudder. "It would be a shame if your little granddaughter had an... accident at the hands of the bandits roaming around here."

The little girl in question shrank back, trembling, behind her mother, whose face was pale with worry. The soldiers eyed the mother and daughter with lecherous glances, exchanging complicit and indecent smiles. Each look, each smirk, seemed to drain the villagers' hope, their faces turning to one another in despair.

Anger surged within me, boiling over. In an instant, I summoned hundreds of Shadows that rose from the ground, encircling the soldiers in a writhing black mass. Then, with firm steps, I stepped out from the ranks of the Sans-cœur and faced the soldiers, my Keyblade in hand, my gaze burning with determination.

"So, these are the famous soldiers of this kingdom? Not so different from bandits, from what I see," I said, my voice laced with an icy resolve.

The soldiers instinctively stepped back, their arrogance quickly crumbling in the face of the massive number of Sans-cœur surrounding them. Their laughter faded, replaced by faces filled with fear and confusion.

The officer, trying to regain his composure, furrowed his brow and stepped forward, attempting to hide his own discomfort. "Who are you?" he asked in a shaky voice. "Do you know who we are? I am…"

He didn't get a chance to finish. My Keyblade plunged into his heart without hesitation, cutting off his words before they could leave his lips. His body began to twist, his face contorted in terror as he transformed into a Bandit Sans-cœur, a creature that immediately joined my ranks. The dark orb containing a portion of his energy flowed into me, merging with my aura.

The sight terrified the remaining soldiers, their faces drained of all color. Some fell to their knees, their weapons slipping from their trembling hands. They tried desperately to find an escape, but the Shadows closed in around them, blocking every exit.

As for the villagers, they had retreated from the scene, watching with a strange glint in their eyes. They didn't dare rejoice at the end of their oppressors, but a mix of relief and fear shone in their gaze, reflecting the impact of this act on them.

One by one, the soldiers were defeated, transformed into Sans-cœur without resistance. I no longer needed to lift a hand; the Shadows were enough to finish what they'd started.

When it was all over, I straightened up, casting one last look at the village. Without a word, I turned and walked away, leaving the villagers murmuring among themselves in the shadow of the square, half-relieved, half-terrified.

Turning away from the villagers, I walked toward Luffy and Nami, resuming my usual appearance. They were waiting at a cautious distance, their eyes fixed on me.

"Luffy, I have a request," I said as I approached. "I want you and Nami to head into town, to Lamini, grab something to eat, and take a walk. It'll give you a solid alibi while I clean up this island of bandits and other scum."

Luffy took a moment to consider, his eyes sparkling with anticipation. He finally grinned. "Alright, Jordan. But if it ends up in a fight with the governor, that's my battle." His words were firm, his voice full of conviction.

I nodded, amused by his determination. "No problem, Captain. Anyway, a duel with him will get lost in the chaos if I unleash a wave of Sans-cœur on the island."

Nami, who had been listening carefully, frowned. "The alibi is fine, but what about the money? The goal is also to fill the treasury. When do we get the Berries, Jordan?" she asked, her gaze sharp and clearly interested.

I smiled, having anticipated the question. "I'll send out Sans-cœur to do a thorough sweep. They'll find every Berry hidden by the bandits and the governor. The villagers' money won't be touched, but the black market and the governor? They'll lose everything."

Nami smirked, clearly satisfied with the idea. "Good, that's all I wanted to know. As long as we don't scare too many civilians." She looked out toward the plains leading to Lamini, a small smile on her face. "Shall we head out, Luffy?"

Luffy nodded, his fists clenched with determination. "Yes! We'll catch up later, Jordan. Do your cleanup, and we'll handle the eating and stocking up."

I released several contingents of Sans-cœur composed of Rondouillards, Soldat, and Ombres to clean up the island quickly. As for obtaining strength through transformations, I'd focus on quality over quantity, unless it was as easily accessible as with that group of soldiers earlier—I wasn't about to pull a Cell and hunt down each person individually.

Spending the morning clearing the island, with the exception of Lamini, had been more exhausting than expected. I couldn't help but think about how astonishing it was to find nearly five hundred bandits on such a small island. Most of the Sans-cœur I gained were familiar forms, so there weren't any major surprises.

As the afternoon approached, I had my Sans-cœur deployed to discreetly surround the city, hiding them so they would only target the wrongdoers. Resuming my normal appearance, I slipped into Lamini, looking for my companions. They were eating on a terrace, looking relaxed, each absorbed in their plate.

I snuck up and swiped a waffle directly from Luffy's plate, swallowing it before he realized what had happened. "Hits the spot," I joked, licking my fingers with a playful smile.

Luffy turned around, pretending to be annoyed but mostly amused, a wide grin lighting up his face when he heard my voice. He gave me a friendly punch on the shoulder before taking another bite, as if to make up for the lost waffle. "You owe me one," he laughed.

I sat down next to him, crossing my arms with a satisfied look. "Don't worry, you'll get your fight soon, Captain. The keyhole of the island is right at the governor's place."

His face lit up instantly, excitement building in him like an explosion. Just before he could shout with joy, I placed my hand over his mouth to muffle his cheers.

"When do we start?" Nami asked, looking intrigued and eager, her eyes sparkling with anticipation. She knew there'd be a reward in it.

I shrugged, thinking aloud. "Tonight. In the meantime, we could do a dungeon on Normal mode to kill time and earn a few items. Or, we could find a hotel and take a nap."

Luffy and Nami exchanged a glance, and without hesitation, they said in unison, "Dungeon!"

We all burst into laughter, thrilled at the synchrony. Feeling exhilarated, we left town, heading to an isolated spot to enter Traverse Town in Normal mode again. It had almost become routine for us, and once again, we completed it without too much trouble. Traverse Town had this familiar atmosphere, but our enemies fell quickly under our attacks.

At the end of the dungeon, Luffy just received a few potions, which he looked at with a disappointed expression. Nami, on the other hand, scored two ethers and a Bague Brasier (reduces fire damage by half and slightly boosts fire spells), which made her smile in satisfaction. "This ring's going to come in handy," she murmured, slipping it onto her finger, her gaze shining with contentment.

As for me, I'd gathered another contingent of Sans-cœur, strengthening my army, ready for what was to come once night fell.

(Author's Note: As you've noticed, I plan to use the FFX version of accessories, so:

- Bague Brasier = half fire damage received and fire damage *1.5

- Bague Brasier + = nullifies fire damage and fire damage *2

- Bague Brasier X = absorbs fire damage for healing and fire damage 3.

No worries, I won't make these items easily available to avoid overpowering the crew and spoiling the storyline. Also, I won't be sticking to the actual timeline of Eiichiro Oda's work. Think of it like an RPG, with Grand Line as the main quest; events will happen, as if by magic, whenever the crew arrives on an island.)
