Chapter 44: Chapter 44: The Strategic-Level Admiral’s Meeting

"A truly perfect masterpiece." Vice Admiral Tsuru examined the golden crystal intently. "Wright, explain this little creation in detail. We've all heard what Garp relayed, but the three of us remain... skeptical."

"Ah, Tsuru, how can you not trust me?" Garp exclaimed dramatically, feigning indignation. "Sengoku, didn't I explain it clearly to her? I laid everything out perfectly!"

"Shut up, Garp!" Sengoku barked. "You're making a scene in front of Fleet Admiral Kong!"

"...Haha, carry on. I'm listening," Kong said with a faint chuckle.

Wright stood by in silence, a touch exasperated by the banter. It seemed even Tsuru had a humorous side.

"Yes, Vice Admiral Tsuru!" Ignoring the exchange, Wright began his explanation. "As you all know, my abilities allow me to heal injuries rapidly. No matter how severe the wounds, as long as the person is alive, I can save them."

"Because of my abilities, my subordinates have maintained a perfect record of zero casualties. However, this is only feasible in isolated cases. Given the increasingly dire global situation, it doesn't provide a comprehensive solution."

The admirals nodded lightly, indicating their agreement. Wright continued, "While joking with Vice Admiral Garp, I considered a possibility: could I infuse my abilities into objects to achieve similar effects?"

"This idea wasn't without precedent—my sword, Ashes, has undergone remarkable changes due to the unique nature of my abilities." Wright unbuckled Ashes from his waist and placed it on the table. The legendary weapon, more famous than Wright himself, immediately drew the commanders' attention.

"Unlike weapons, which are carefully crafted companions for battle, what I aim to create are disposable, single-use items with much weaker effects. Therefore, I believe this approach is feasible."

Wright then produced a piece of synthetic white crystal. "After extensive material experiments, with Vice Admiral Garp's assistance, I identified this material as ideal. It's inexpensive, mass-producible, and compatible with my abilities. With it, I created what I call the Lightcast Crystal."

"These crystals activate automatically when the wearer sustains life-threatening or severe injuries. They heal the user just enough to keep them alive, buying time for medical treatment. Essentially, they function like an auto-triggered healing potion, but without side effects."

"For minor injuries or non-lethal severe wounds, the crystal doesn't activate on its own. Instead, it can be manually crushed to release its healing power."

Wright demonstrated the process, crushing a crystal to release a faint glow. "Crushing multiple crystals amplifies the healing effect—roughly five crystals are equivalent to a single healing session from me."

"Incredible! A stroke of genius!" Sengoku murmured, astonished. "And you came up with this while joking with Garp? For once, that man has done something worthwhile…"

"Oi! Sengoku! I heard that!" Garp retorted, clearly annoyed.

Kong, speaking up with gravity, added, "On the battlefield, treating the wounded is always a monumental challenge. I've witnessed countless subordinates and comrades fall, unable to receive timely medical attention."

"Even if medics reach the wounded quickly, multiple critical injuries can stretch their efforts thin. But with these Lightcast Crystals, this problem may become a thing of the past. Wright, you've accomplished something remarkable."

"Thank you, Fleet Admiral!" Wright replied. "Because the crystals require mental focus to infuse with my ability, I experimented with utilizing my Observation Haki while imbuing them. I believe this enhances their auto-activation feature by detecting fluctuations in the user's life force."

"During this process, I discovered something extraordinary." Wright retrieved a crystal with a golden core. "This particular crystal is unique—it has a special inner core, a golden light."

"Oh? Wright, you've been holding out on us!" Garp exclaimed in surprise.

"This is a recent experiment aboard my ship," Wright explained, his tone turning serious. Noticing this shift, the commanders grew attentive. Sengoku asked, "What's the function of this special crystal, Wright?"

"I call it the Lightcast Beacon Crystal," Wright declared solemnly.

"Beacon…" The four admirals exchanged looks, a shared sense of astonishment in their eyes. "Are you saying…"

"Yes!" Wright raised the golden-core crystal. "This crystal retains all the capabilities of a standard Lightcast Crystal, but it also possesses a 'resonance' feature."

Wright demonstrated by taking a standard crystal and infusing it, creating another Beacon Crystal. When placed together, the two crystals began emitting synchronized, intermittent flashes of light.

"The resonance is a unique interaction between my ability and Observation Haki. When two Beacon Crystals are near each other, they emit flashes at the same frequency. And if one is crushed…"

"…I can immediately sense its location!" Wright concluded. "By following the direction of the signal, I can pinpoint the crystal's exact position."

A brief silence followed, broken by Sengoku's incredulous voice. "This is extraordinary… It's the perfect tool for distinguishing friend from foe and for emergency signaling. Wright, this could revolutionize our intelligence operations."

"However," Sengoku added, his tone measured, "this Beacon Crystal must remain classified. Your support abilities are already unparalleled. If these crystals guide you to critical battlefields, your presence could shift the tide of war."

"I understand, Admiral," Wright replied.

Tsuru then asked, "What about production? How taxing is it to create these crystals, Wright?"

Wright leaned back thoughtfully. "For standard Lightcast Crystals, the burden is minimal—I can produce 600 to 700 per day. However, Beacon Crystals require far greater precision. I can only make five or six of them daily."

"Excellent!" Kong exclaimed. "Wright, begin by producing 500 standard crystals today. Sengoku, coordinate with Wright to procure sufficient white crystals and organize volunteers for testing. Tsuru, analyze battle damage statistics from the past year to identify optimal deployment scenarios."

"As for you, Garp, assist Sengoku with testing. Your expertise with… unconventional methods may prove useful. I'll personally oversee the confidentiality measures."

"Every moment counts," Kong concluded gravely. "Delays mean more lives lost. If we have a chance to save them, we must seize it with all our strength!"

"Yes, Fleet Admiral!" the room replied in unison.
